I weaned myself from caffeine many years ago by switching to Caffeine-Free Diet Coke and restricting my coffee intake to two cups in the morning.

I no longer have the crippling panic attacks that I went through with frightening regularity.

I'm hoping vaping works in a similar way to my tobacco habit. For the most part I'm vaping but I still have a cig or two daily.

I can't let go of that damned crutch yet.

I cant understand how you can. I would not get a puff from a cigarette whatever they give me. In the street my wife did not have a lighter asked me to ask someone. I lighted her cigarette I would almost twrow there. Try to increase your nic level. And always think How the ones you did not smoke helped you to good health.

We are all different. Some people quit right away, others don't. :)

Just saying.

I know. Everyone is different. Some people try e-cig out of curiosity and never look back, others intending to quit are sceptical what ifs. I did not fight with them I found them detesting. I think it has to do with liquids or nic levels

Took me the better part of 6 months to get to Solo Ecig. Used Ecigs for 2.5 years. Feb 6th was my last vape. So, 3 years for me to break my 53+ years of smoking tobacco habit. Now, I happy enough not to do either. Don't mind being around people vaping. . .can't say the same for smokers. That's just not pleasant anymore. Feel some guilt subjecting wifey to the unpleasantness for 44 years. That's true love on her part. :)JMHO

Cheers,

I didn't say it was a rational fear...lol But it IS a huge psychological terror for me. Smoking has been one of the main sources of comfort for me in my lifetime and it's extremely difficult to let go.

I'm giving myself every advantage I can to make this work, though. If I feel pressured in any way I know I'll quit quitting and I don't want to do that. I have to work around the way my mind works. Outsmart MYSELF, as it were.

I'm just not right in the head, y'all...hehehehe

Caffeine varies from one person to the next.

I used to drink about 5-8 energy drinks per day, 1-2 pots of coffee and take Stacker diet pills on top of it all. If we added that up, that's over 2-2.5 grams per day of caffeine and I never had an issue. On the other hand, if someone who is sensitive tried that, they'd probably end up in the hospital if they didn't have a heart attack from the surge.

The recommended maximum is 500-600 mg, so I was easily 4-5x what one average person should take in per day.

That said, Nicotine is the same. Some people can chain-vape 24mg all day long because some of them used to smoke 2-3 packs per day. Me on the other hand, I stick with 12-18 and have reduced how much I vape to a few ml's per day because I was never more than a pack a day smoker. Only on occasion did I break into the 1.5 pack / day and that was only when I was on vacation or out with friends at the club or a bar.

Katya, in case you didn't catch it, I have high blood pressure. I'm pretty sure that caffeine and nicotine are not good for me in any quantity. I said nothing about not having decaf coffee though.

Hi Holly! I am not a doctor and I do no play one in summer stock. However, I have read of many folks that have had their blood pressure go down when they replaced smoking with vaping. Some of them were using 24 mg nicotine. That leads me to believe that nicotine is either 1. less in the vaping than smoking or 2. the other nasty chemicals in smoking are more of a culprit than just nicotine for raising blood pressure.

My blood pressure has come down about 10/8 points since I started vaping. I am pleased with the result and hoping I can decrease my BP meds as time goes on. I can say that my heart rate has really come down and I am just as pleased with that!

You must make your own decisions based on your health and your doctor's advice. I would not give up on vaping unless you have another healthy(er) way to quit smoking. I think vaping has shown significant benefits for me.

As a college student myself~ your teach may not accept a paper using a strongly opinion based forum, unless you're writing about various opinions; however, I've found a lot of threads on the forum that leads you the right resources. You may want to check it out. It's unfortunate to be writing a paper on the industry because the information out there could be so inaccurate. Even government agencies that are considered to be reliable sources for essays, are making up their own b.s.

Yes Just think they allow cigarettes to be sold provided it labelled it is harmfull. And try to ban e-cigs (Cant find anything to write on liquids to blame any ingredient)

Hehehehe...

Welcome to ECF, Dex!

As soon as you get more posts, just run an advanced search for Prue Talbot--one of the most despised and ridiculed people here. :D

This "study" has been analyzed and discussed at length here...

I would post some link for you but you won't be able to open them yet.

Journal of Internet research my foot.

Oooh, I'm looking forward to this one.
