Hi guys,

I've been vaping for roughly a year now and I'm looking to "upgrade" my experience per se.

I've been using the generic fairly cheap kits but I've just bought myself a Hana Modz DNA-20 along with a Vivi Nova tank.

Reading through the reviews online on the Hana Modz DNA-20 has made me believe that this is a great bit of kit, but the taste of my liquid is just not right at all, it tastes so burnt and my throat hurts so much using it.
I'm unsure as to whether its the tank or whether it is the liquid itself - I've changed the wick etc. and the taste is still the same.

I've also read reviews that are pointing me to believe that the lower the OHM on the wick would give a better vape.

In regards to the horrendous taste, I've tried the usual - cleaning the wick - dry burning etc etc.

Can somebody please help!

Many thanks

Craig :)

Your APV doesn't down regulate power, it puts out a minimum of 4v on the lowest setting.
So if the delivery device resistance is 2 ohms you are actually vaping at 8 watts no matter what you set it to because of the 4v minimum output. .
This may or may not be too much power for the delivery device you're using.
You could try heads in a higher ohm range 2.2 ~ 2.4 .

4v / 2.2 = 7.27w
4v / 1.8 = 8.88w
4v / 1.6 = 10w

Then it is mostly likely a wicking issue or a juice pg/vg, nic% or flavorings issue.
You have to keep the wicks wet, fully saturated, tip / tilt / swirl to keep them wet.
Thoroughly clean the 510 connection.

If you're chain / rapidly vaping a top coil clearo is gonna have a hard time keeping up. I assume your vivi nova is the regular top coil variety.

What do you mean by "the voltage is roughly 4.6-5.2v." ?
4.43v / 2.8 = 7.00w ~ your APV's minimum using a 2.8ohm head.
4.6v / 2.8 = 7.55w
5.2v / 2.8 = 9.65w

The Vivi Nova tanks are terrible. My son has one and it is just garbage. Burnt hits and restrictive airflow. Nautilus or Naut Mini. Some will pimp the Kanger products. Anything but that vivi nova (well almost). It was pretty much a waste of my 12 bucks.

Kayfun\ Fogger\ Aqua\ Squape clones would be a great option if you want to try the rebuildable route. some 28 gauge Kanthal and a bag of organic cotton will run you around $10 online, and you would have coils and wicks covered for a year.
