Hello Everyone,
As you can probably tell I am new to this site. I have been vaping for nearly a month now, and I am so happpppyyyyy to say that I no longer smoke!!!! I have been a smoker for about 5 years, usually about a pack to a pack and a half a day. I started out with the blu cig which is about to just be a back up. I have my 901 on the way and I am hoping it is as good as the reviews that I have seen. I love me some Johnson's Creek smoke juice especially the vanilla. I am 23 years old and I watched my mom die from lung cancer when she was just 36. She went in to the emergency room having trouble breathing and did not come back out of the hospital until she was buried. I've seen what cigarettes do and it hit way too close to home for me to continue to ignore the facts. I am so glad I found this alternative to smoking. It may not have been proven as healthier yet, but after a month of vaping instead of smoking, my body is telling me that it is healthier. Any advice or comments or questions would be welcome.

Welcome Amanda. Glad you found ECF as well as vaping. I too know all to well the dangers first hand. Watched my Dad suffocate to death for years, and watched my MIL die of cancer @45. I`m 40 and hoping I found vaping soon enough, I smoked for 27 years 2 PAD. I don`t have to tell you how much better it feels after over a month.

This is a great place, and can be as addictive as cigs or vaping, so don`t say I didn't warn you!

Welcome to ECF Amanda, Sry to hear about your mother... like you we all have our reasons to quit smoking and that is what will keep us vaping :D (that and it tastes so much better :D haha..) im glad you are feeling healthier, and hope you return to 100%
Happy Vaping!!

Something somebody told me recently and its really helped me out too, "count the analogs avoided, not the ones you've smoked"

All of my grandparents, both sides of the family, and 5 of my great uncles have died from cancer caused by tobacco. The first one in 1986. Nothing has gotten me to put down the cigarettes until the day I picked up my first PV.

Matter a act I was smoking a cigarette at the cemetery after I carried my grandfathers to the lowering thing. He died of lung cancer also.

P.S. you like my Avatar, or are you a WAR EAGLE??

Wow, Amanda, I can't begin to imagine what it's like to lose your mom in that way. You're so young. I feel for you girl.
The 901 worked for me after 40 years of smoking. It's been 5 months a few days ago since I touched my last tobacco cigarette. It will work for you too.
Flavors are great on the 901. That's it's real strength. I suggest having plenty of batteries though (at least 4) and a couple chargers because the batteries kinda suck. I had 4 batts rotating and 2 chargers going at all times when I was using stock 901 batteries. I vape like a steam engine.
I only use battery mods and big batteries now. You'll figure out what's right for you. Good luck and welcome.

Hi Amanda,

For me, a very graphic example of smoking analogs was brought to my attention by (believe it or not) ... my computer.

I didn't build my computer, but I did specify brands and types of components and then had it built by a local shop. It has a clear lucite case with blue lights inside it and is very handsome. The cooling fan is side mounted and faces the monitor and keyboard and sits in its own transparent casing and also has blue LED lights.

It was this fan that first caught my attention. It was nearly clogged with gunk from my chain smoking. Then I examined inside the computer case and it was the same. I had to take the unit in to have it completely cleaned before I lost the whole thing!

Health is certainly the primary consideration, but smoking analogs ruins a lot of other things around us too, some that we never even think about - like the computer.

I've been vaping for nearly a month now and I cannot see any effect on my computer and I honestly am breathing easier and can walk further without huffing and puffing!

I to am new to the ecig community, but have over the last month experienced the cost and associated enjoyment associated with ecigs. I started with a Revolver Elite, which is a good smoke with short battery life, then moved to the Modern Vapor 902 which has longer battery life, but lighter vapor, then I really got the bang with the VPYR and a DSE801 atty. This is probably the closest thing to analogs that I can imagine. I am 6 weeks without a Vantage and I love it. Over 40 years of analogs, and I cannot believe that I have finally found a way to quit.

@Amanda - I'm so sorry for your loss. Watching my own mother's health deteriorate over 27 years (while I slowly smoked myself along the same path) was a big factor in my own decision to switch to ecigs. My mother is quickly approaching end-stage COPD, and every violent coughing fit of hers made me wonder when it would happen to me, too. Well, in the last 2 mos, I began coughing almost as badly as she's been. When the doctor gave me an inhaler during an ER visit in June, I got really scared. I hope I can convince my mother to at least try the ecig (knowing it's probably far too late to make much difference for her)...I'm becoming all-too aware of the severity of her condition.

@Ron - For me, it was seeing the state of our furnace filter and the look on the faces of the HVAC guys who showed it to me. OMG, I can't believe my husband and I have created that much filth. Embarrassing and sobering for sure.
