Hi and welcome- congrats on trying to quit cigarettes! Finding the right eliquids can be tough, especially if you think they are going to taste like cigarettes! Eliquids do not taste like a burning cigarette. If you can get to a vape shop, many that I go to have a sample station, where you can try flavors that will appeal to you. Find a flavor that you enjoy like candy or gum or peppermint, fruits, bakery. I was a menthol cig smoker and started with eliquid peppermint flavor and Cinnamon Fireball, I went to a vape shop and tried many liquids- none tasted like a cigarette!
I have not smoked a cigarette since Dec 1, 2014 after a 30+ year cig habit! Ecigs and Will Power helped me end my smoking addiction!
Best Of Luck!

Thank you for the warm welcome, your story is very inspiring!. I've been smoking for around 20+ years and seriously considering to quit.

Welcome! For me the cigs just went away after a few weeks. Not uncommon around here.

For flavors, I ended up with using unflavored. Nothing really comes close to combustion, and it leaves a light tabbacco taste.

That, with a squirt of menthol might suit you fine.

Anyways, nice to have you join us here

I just decided that I was sick of cigarettes running my life, and bought 2 Mistic Bridge kits some Haus eliquid and some menthol cartridges, just to see if I could do it! I stepped down my cigarettes for a few weeks before I set my quit date and just toughed it out! It was tough for me in the beginning, but day by day it got easier, I have since moved onto better gear!
I tried to get my hubby to quit too- he vapes at work but will smoke cigs in the garage, he just won't quit! I have tried everything, but at least he has gone from 2 packs a day to 4-5 cigarettes per day! Small victory and some day I hope he does quit cigarettes!

Few weeks kind of really fast!.
Unflavored means like it's only PG/VG and Nic?
Kind of make sense to me, like giving a 'neutralizer' effect probably, i imagined.

2 packs are quite something :) I only smoke around 10-12 cigs per day max (now reduced to around 7-8 after vaping). Just tried it for couple days only but it feels quite great especially in the morning.

Hope your hubby can quit like you did!

I spent my first 2 years of vaping trying to find a tobacco juice I liked enough to reorder. Many brands and types of tobac juices I tried and ended up disappointed all the time or got sickly after a while. Many juice makers interpretation of tobacco juices varies very widely and a I thought a lot are YUK. I didn't find happiness until I began to DIY my juice with Hangsen concentrates. Everybody tastes are different but Hangsen Highway was one of few tobacs I did like, began to make it and still making it 2 years later. As for the menthol, your better off buying a menthol concentrate and adding it to your juices as you see fit for your own preference and liking.

    Interesting!
Which Hangsen do you usually use? Any way to share at least a glimpse of the recipe? :)

My 3 main(only) Hangsen tobacco concentrates are Desert Ship, Highway and No5. I also like Elder Captain, Virginia but not as much as the first 3. RTS Tobacco Absolute and INW Garuda I mix into the HS tobacs and occasionally INW Virginia TA but its a bit sweet so its very low percentage. I'm not a menthol fan but I do add mint(Loranns Cream Du Menthe)so I get the mint flavor without the coolness.
I mix very simple 4% of my HS tobac and 3% usually RTS TA or Garuda. Sometimes .5% of acetyl pyrazine to add a bready/nutty flavor. Been vaping this for just over 2 years now and no sign of me getting tired of the taste.
What turned me off on a lot of the commercial juices was they were super sweet to the point of sickening. I couldn't live with the drymouth and drinking gallons of water every day anymore. My DIY Hangsen blends aren't sweet so my day to day activities don't require me carrying a water bottle just to survive.
My wife vapes a 4% HS Desert Ship and .75% Cotton candy, same with her 2 years vaping that blend and she won't vape anything else.

And yes i totally agree that some juices are overly sweetness of , left me dry and even 'numbed' at certain point. Probably similar to you, i'm not really into sweet stuff (occasionally for variation, i might).

Will try to make my recipe based on yours then.
    Thank you!

Welcome @mamamiaw ! If I could kick a 40+ year habit, you can do this!

I and many others wanted a juice that was "just like a smoke" when we started vaping and that did work obviously even though none were. Just wanted to suggest that you not close the door to everything else. I've always preferred a variety of juices each day and one of my favorites now is a flavor (grape/watermelon) that hearing about or reading the label I never would have even tried. Thankfully I have a great vape shop that knows me well and will just say "you've gotta give this a try" and hand me their vape.

So, by all means, find a good tobacco or two. But don't be afraid to broaden your horizons. Try it! You might like it!

Hello, @mamamiaw, and welcome to ECF! Glad you found us.

Like others have said, you probably won't find a juice that tastes exactly like a cig as there is no combustion/burning of anything, i.e., tobacco, paper, chemicals.

However, I and quite a few others have found a small company in Georgia that has done an excellent job of making juices from naturally extracting flavors from actual tobacco (NET - Naturally Extracted Tobacco flavors). At present, I believe they carry around 14 different NETs and they are called Heather's Heavenly Vapes. They also do many other flavors as well, Butterscotch Rum is one that comes to mind that I found very, very good and Blueberry Muffin is to die for.

The NET that helped me quit smoking is called Huntsman which has a maple tone to it. I liked it so much I wrote a review on it's "Little Brother" Dark Horse in their Forum. They no longer carry Huntsman - it was replaced by one called Gaia which has a similar profile.

Read the review, check them out and tell us what you think here or in our HHV forum.

40+ years?! Wow! that must be hard, but then i heard you did it, so will i!
Now and then in my (only) short journey i keep trying to open my door to any flavor, including those i never thought i'll try (basically i'm not really into this very sugary stuff yet i've tried some for a change). But then again, old habit dies hard and once in a while they kick harder...thus the craving for 'tobacco' thing...
I guess i gotta find more 'offline' vaping buddies to broad my horizon and to find 'my place' in the world of taste (hey, that rhymes!) :p

Thank you for the inspiration and encouragement!

    Dear Chakris,
Thank you for the suggestion, very very interested to try those. Will check with some people first about 'importing' stuff, especially liquid, since i live in eastern part of south-east asia.
But above all, thank your for the warm welcome, great suggestion and wonderful sharing :)

Whereabouts in south-east asia? I'm in Bangkok, Thailand and have never had any problem importing stuff.

PS I also had a 40+ year habit.

You're in Bangkok? Last year i visited Bangkok several times and promised myself to come back there again more frequent :)
Well it should be fine i assume then. But i'll try to reconfirm with some other people to see their experience

    Thanks

    Welcome and glad you joined.
Might want to do non sub-ohm first (Over 1 ohms, pretty much uses the same equipment, the coil/wick is built different). You will get great flavor but the cloud production is not as intense as you can produce with sub ohm'g.
Could look into the pros and cons of sub ohm'g vs non sub ohm'g before you decide which way you want to go. Some folks jump right into sub ohm'g without looking at the hidden ramifications.Successful sub ohm'rs tend to know the ins and outs of vaping. That's why sub ohm'g is tagged as advanced vaping.

Welcome mamamiaw - and congratulations on taking the first steps on your journey to get off the "stinkies".
Lots of good advice for you already, but just thought I'd throw some ideas your way too (to consider or not - however you see fit).
I smoked 20-30 cigarettes a day for 40+ years and have not had a cigarette since my first vape just over 18 months ago. Because I was a heavy smoker I brought a few tobacco flavours - and hated them all!!
I have a monthly e-liquid subscription where I get 5 random flavours sent to me, and by doing this I have discovered flavours that I would never have brought.
Also, I recently reviewed (among others) a tobacco e-liquid called Tribeca from a manufacturer/supplier who have been making tobacco and menthol flavoured e-liquids since 2009. I have to say, that it was very pleasant, and nothing like the junk I vaped in the early days. Check out Premium E-Cigarettes, E-Liquids & Vape Kits | Halo Cigs and Welcome to HiggyCigs!
Both ship worldwide so you shouldn't have a problem. If you want to check out my review, you'll find it here:
    Good luck and Vape ON!!
