Hello. I'm new to the forum and I love all the advice and ideas around here.

So far I've started with the v2 cigalike, great start but as you know not really that much savings over logs and not that satisfying either.

After a few weeks I bought an MVP, then a protank mini II that I simply can't get rid of. I drilled the holes out to 1.4mm and it is unbelievable now w/a finger "carb" to adjust the draw by putting my finger over 1/3 holes or 2/3holes. I bought the MVP because of all the utilitarian features and bullet proof design. It is THE PERFECT backpackers vaporizer since I can charge it via the fire using my peltier device USB charger, then in turn use it as a backup battery as well for my USB UV water sterilizer and USB flashlight, as well as a backup battery for my phone (not that it ever needs it since its mostly turned off and only used for emergency and occasional GPS).

Moving on, I've recenly got an 18650 battery powered vape which is nice for backpacking as well but no where near bullet proof and can't charge my other devices so I have a feeling it will be left at home quite frequently. I love my EVIC and it is fun to set the voltage ramping curves to attain ALL the flavors in my complex ejuices. I enjoy running the variable voltage curves which allow me to find the high and low notes in my more complex juices and hit them just right. I sit here for hours custom tailoring voltage curves to my juice and I find that the custom voltage curves of the evic really make the dual coil tanks shine such as my aero.

Thanks for welcoming me to the forum and I look forward to contributing greatly as a huge electronics buff. I'm a bit of a lithium polymer freak and look forward to contributing some insight on these cells in particular.

I am also working on a hydrogen reactor powered vaporizer, which doesn't run on batteries but actually runs on hydrogen cells. The batteries do not lose capacity over time and the reactor is small enough to fit in a box mod. The hydrogen cell is about the size of an 18650 and provides about 10x more amp hours as well as much lighter and completely refills via a hydrolosis fueling station such as the brunton model.

See you soon! I look forward to building the ULTIMATE backpacking mod.

Welcome to the ECF and congrats

I had never heard of "peltier device USB chargers" so of course, I googled it and found the "power pot". So cool, everyone who camps should get one (along with everyone on the east coast "hurricane zones" or up north in the "blizzard" zones, or in the midwest for the "tornado/thunderstorm" zones or out west in the "rolling blackout/fire" zones, wait, I think that IS everyone). seemed a little expensive (about the same as 25 Starbucks coffees) but seeing as more and more of us seem to be more and more dependent on staying "connected" it seems like the ultimate "emergency" equipment to have.

Yes, check out the flamestower. It works much better than the power pot or biolite stove. I built my own actually out of a peltier plate, and a firebox nano wood burning stove. The voltage regulator I built from parts off an old sony tape deck I found in my parents attic.

The flamestower will most likely be your best bet for a peltier device.

A hydrogen reactor will put much more power out and puts the 18(k) series batteries and lithium polymer 3.7v single cells that are in most phones and "internal" battery devices to shame though. My hydrogen reactor will only weigh about 2 ounces versus the 10 ounces it takes to build a peltier device that is far less efficient and practical. Since hydrogen cells can be reused millions of times without losing capacity they are much more eco friendly than batteries are. Lithium ion batteries are destroying the environment big time. I'd rather plug a hydrolyzer into the wall and fuel hydrogen cells off the grid than use batteries that continually destroy the world as a consumer item with no end to the destruction they're causing in sight.

Check out the brunton hydrogen reactor if you have no idea what I am talking about. I plan on building a box mod that is a vape/reactor in one. I will also build a 5v USB regulated output into the vape/reactor as well of course so it has similar function to the MVP but without destroying the environment as badly. A half ounce hydrogen cell also is more efficient per the weight as it will produce about 16,000 mA hours for a tiny fraction of the weight of a lithium polymer cell this large. The brunton hydrogen reactor does not produce these figures but mine does. Brunton is to date the only successful personal hydrogen reactor marketed btw. (there is no reason cars shouldn't run on hydrogen at this point but we're idiots about oil what can I say that you don't already know about this though lol)

I currently have patent on this concept as well as a working prototype of course. I'm just working on getting my tooling and manufacturing setup then I will most likely start a kickstarter project to fund it. I figure it will be a novel concept but the clones will come about 6 months later and wipe me out so I'm starting to think there's no market here and may just stay niche with it and run my own manufacturing in house for fun, not profit.

I am truly blessed and do not feel at this time that profiteering my idea is necessary so I'm starting to second guess my idea to mass manufacture my device. In all honesty, China has an amazingly skilled work force now from copying American and British designs for the past almost 30 years now. Things are not what they once were and international patents are extremely permeable and expensive.

Look into the flamestower and brunton reactor. They are both very good eco friendly solutions to vaping in the back country and leave my idea very little room on the market considering they both power USB devices.
