I use an I4 most of the time. I also use the IMR CGR18650CH flat top batteries and not the one that came with the kit. Safe chemistry batteries are the way to go, in a good charger, in a charging bag, while attended, imho. I have three evics and due to their delicacy have now learned to solder as two of them died horrible deaths on counter top drops, popping the heads, and pulling out the leads. That's why I have three evics, now in silver, black and white, and just got two 18350 tubes in silver and black. These tubes are NEVER in stock, so if you're interested:

Joyetech eVic 18350 Battery Tube | Quality eVic Accessories from Aqua Vapor eCig North Carolina | eVic 18350 Tube

The batteries I use I found on Amazon:

Amazon.com: 4pcs Panasonic CGR18650CH 3.6 Volt Li-ion Battery 2250 mAh: Everything Else

Many consider these the best vaping batteries in the vaping world. I like these, the AW's and the Efest's the best.

Good luck with your Evic. Be careful. The new ones added two head screws to keep the top on. We'll see if that works. A little solder and epoxy, also works to repair them fairly easily. Power up and Vape On!

I use pannasonic button top 18650 all the time in my Evic.

Using a button top 18650 on the evic will put a lot of stress on that control head. You ever notice the stock flat top sanyo battery became concaved on the positive end? That's because of a snug fit using a flat top because of a connector pin on the bottom of the control head. Now using a button top will stress out that pin from the control head; either damaging the connector, or even the head itself.

Been using my EVIC for 5 days now, everything is great but should i continue charging via the usb port? dont know if the charging is accurate but my EVIC charges really fast on a USB 3.0 port .. went from 10% to 57% in under 40mins O_O

well is the Xtar VP1 Charger good for 18650 unprotected batteries?
Here's an article that explains what you're seeing. USB 3.0 does have a higher output than 2.0. And, yes, it is OK to charge it from there all the time.

You have an eVic don't you, Batman? Can you recommend proper batteries and chargers for us newbies?

I do have an eVic, but I use the USB port to charge it. It's my back-up, so having, in reality, 80% battery isn't a huge deal for me.

You don't have to take out the battery and use an external charger. You can use the usb cable to wall adapter and charge from a wall outlet. It will be fine.

As I said earlier, you can do this, but you won't be getting a true full charge on the eVic. It may read 98-100% after having it on there, but it drains MUCH faster than if you used an external charger.

Couple of FINER POINTS
First - Left to fully charge, USB Port on eVic should be a NON-ISSUE. As long as the PC Port can output a sustained current acceptible to the charging circuit the battery WILL CHARGE.

Second - OUTPUT is OUTPUT it is NOT effected by the way a battery reaches 100% CHARGED
A battery sitting at 4.2v charged has no reason to discharge at a different rate whether charged on a Ni-core or through a USB
Now, if one charges to 3.9v and the other to 4.2v you have a difference in usable power.
