hello!
I've been vaping for around 8 months now. Started on those throw away clearomisers that you buy in fuel stations. 5 months ago I bought a kanger subtank mini kit. Very impressed with it.
Currently in using the 0.5ohm coils with element dripper juice on around 30W and I'm really liking it.
Now I'm really interested in doing things myself. I want to start building my own coils and mixing my own juice. I hear Clapton coils mentioned a lot, so I thing I'm going to get some wire and have a go on the kanger rba. Could anyone suggest how I go about mixing my own juice from scratch? And get good results?

Hi and welcome, enjoy your stay! Mixing your own juice is a very good idea. I'd suggest you do some reading in the diy-e-liquid section of the forum before you start. There are a few things you should be aware of, the most important being the risk of working with nicotine.

I usually buy high percentage nic base (dangerous to work with, read about the risks before you start) and mix it with nic-less VG and PG. My juice has an average 3% nic and is 50/50 VG/PG. Besides nic there are numerous flavors i add. I always make several juices with different flavors, let them steep (ripe) for some time and then make mixes with them. Steeping is an important part of the juicemaking process. Especially tobacco flavors need weeks before you can use them.

I often buy small samples of flavors and make small amounts to try out. Finding the perfect flavors and mixes is an ongoing journey. There are several brands that are quite popular in the vaping world. Lots of info on them on the forum.

Things you need, very basic list:
- nic base
- vg base
- pg base
- flavors
- glass bottles (100ml/200ml)
- jars
- plastic (ldpe/hdpe) bottles 20ml/30ml
- syringes (1ml for flavors, 10ml/50ml/100ml for base)
- rubber gloves
- paper towell
- destilled water or demineralized water

Welcome and very cool,

I know you've heard it, can't stress it enough Nicotine is a poison, really if smoking was never invented we would still have nicotine available to kill bugs, especially if you have kids or pets. Just cigarette residue on your hands can wipe out your fish tank (if you have fish).

Tons of good information on making your own juice, starter kits available on line for fairly reasonable prices. This forum amazing source of information. I'm going to try to mix up my first batch of juice later today.

I started mixing my own juice not knowing what I was doing other than the fact that I needed flavors, nicotine (either pg or vg based), vg, and pg. Most of the juices I made came out to less than 10% in flavoring and they weren't that great.

After replicating the most popular recipe found on e liquid recipe dot com I experimented with more complex flavoring and made a banana custard juice that I can't put down and found my sweet spot to be at about 20% flavoring with 40/60 pg to vg ratio and 3mg of nicotine.

My advice is to use e liquid recipe dot com for % / ml calculations or just find a recipe on there you think you would enjoy and replicate it. Then start experimenting yourself.

Ingredients you will most definitely need:
PG, VG, liquid nicotine (either in pg, vg or pg vg mix base), flavorings

Tools you will most likely need:
glass cylinder (i have a 50ml, 10ml, 5ml), dripper (either glass or disposable plastic ones), bottles for storage

What I do is I mix my base of pg, vg and nicotine in the 50ml container, mix my flavorings either in the 5ml or 10ml container, mix the 2 end products and then bottle them.

GL and have fun.

Rebuilding coils is the way for the future, especially with FDA regulations about to put the clamps down on the vaping industry. Not only is building your own coils more economical and practical, but it gives you a better vaping experience.

Information Resources for Your First RBA
  • An essential read and referrance guide for someone new to rebuilding coils. Includes a multitude of useful links on battery safety, mod safety, coil meters, coil building, and the differences in the three types of RBA's.

I'm just researching more about DIY eliquids myself. I'm not sure where you are from, but if you're in the US you've only got a limited amount of time to secure your liquid base nicotine (August 2016) before it will be banned in the US.
