So I have smoked for way to long and after some attempts to quit using gas station e-cig, to Blu, to ego variable with various $15-$20 tanks, all of which broke and didn't work very well, I have purchased a Fogger 5.0, a smok Magneto II mod, two 3.7V 2500mAh batteries (not sure of the brand), and Cotton Bacon wick. I have wrapped coil and changed the wick successfully (I think, vapor is good-ish, pg/vg blend, and taste seems ok, but I have a popping when I fire even though the coil is two days old). Anyway, I need some info on resistance and what-not for my setup, as well as gauge of my wire, how large I should wrap my coil, and how many wraps. Also is this a good set up for me? It seems to be ok outside of leaks when I refill (I have tried closing the vents and tilting it upside down to stop it, it seems hit or miss). And what is some good advice for someone new to rebuildables?

Hello fellow newb! Welcome to ECF and the wonderful world of rebuilding.

I don't know much about the Fogger but YouTube is a great source of information, tips and tricks when it comes to coils and wicking just about any RTA. Leaking, as far as I know, is a common occurrence with tank systems and I've not personally found anyone who has a tank that doesn't leak to some extent.

No one can really tell you if it's a good setup for you - that's up to you! It depends on a lot of factors that can't easily be assessed on a Q&A type basis on a forum. If you've stopped smoking analogs and are solely on your vape with minimal cravings - it is a good start! Once you've gotten into it all and built up some experience, you'll want to customize and create. It'll be something you have to find on your own though, kind of like a random itch that just comes out of nowhere that you absolutely have to scratch.

That's how I went from an eGo twist to a mech/RDA to building my own box mod in a matter of a few months. Best of luck to you though!

Hello and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here!:)

If you are new to mech mods and rebuildables I highly recommend you spend some time with Baditude (one of our resident battery experts) and visit his blogs. You are now 100% in control of your own safety (and others around you). Make sure you purchase an ohm reader and a voltmeter or DMM so you can measure your builds, check for shorts and measure the remaining charge on your batteries.

Baditudes Blogs. The blogs regarding mods and rebuildables are listed below:

BATTERIES

9. Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected ICR?
* Another essential read to understand which batteries are safe to use in mechanical and regulated mods. Includes a frequently updated list of recommended safe-chemistry, high-drain batteries with their specifications.

17. Purple Efest Batteries Not As Advertised
* A cautionary blog that reveals that the purple Efest batteries may not have the specifications advertised. Also includes a commentary on "continuous discharge ratings" vs "pulse discharge ratings" of battery specs.

OHM'S LAW

14. Ohm's Law for Dummies (Vapers)
* My attempt at explaining Ohm's Law in layman terms and how it relates to vaping.

16. Explain it to the Dumb Noob: Ohm's Law Calculations
* As simple as it is to use, some people have a tough time grasping the concept. Warning: Includes graphic photos of mod explosions.

BATTERIES - WHERE TO BUY

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* RTD Vapor
* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics

Thanks for the advice. I have looked up some vids on the Fogger 5.0 and the four I have watched seemed to vary significantly on how to wrap coil and how to wick it. I think I can play around with it a bit and find a good method. Any good suggestions on a reliable vid for wrapping the coils? I have just followed what the guy I bought it from had shown me so far, but I would like to know the whys and how's of it all.
