My name is Alex and I'm from Indiana. In the past, I've used a couple of those cheapo cigarette-looking ecigs and about a year ago, I upgraded to a Chrome Lambo 4 and a smok tank. I have been having problems with it, which brought me here.

I have seen another post on this forum, actually, regarding the same issue. Even with fully charged batteries (brand new batteries, even, charged upon receipt), the device blinks and behaves as if the batteries are dead. I can sometimes get a hit out of it, but it is very finicky. I have bought 3 different sets of 18650 batteries thinking it must be a battery issue, tried different voltages and cartos (apparently 4.2v is optimum for my current setup), even bought a new battery charger. Nothing worked. So I think I've isolated the issue to being internal to the Lambo itself.

There does not seem to be a solution on the web. In the other thread I found, the general consensus was "You bought a POS. Get something else." This is not satisfying, but so be it. I emailed the manufacturer a few hours ago, but I'm not hopeful.

Which brings me to my main concern: Any recommendations on a variable voltage mod? I don't need the full starter kit- I have batteries, a tank, drip tip, charger, etc. I just need a mod to slip my battery into. Must fit 18650 batteries.

Budget is $80 or below. Preferably below... :D

Glad to be here! Thanks.

since the smok tank's are 510 connected your device options are limitless. If your looking to stick to the tube style devices I would suggest looking into a vamo. It's all my wife really uses and she has many options sitting on my desk. You should be able to find a vamo between 50-80 depending on which style pops out to you.

If you were looking for a box mod style that does 1850 batteries I would say go with a dna30 clone. Gives you more features then is probably needed in your case but has the capabilities to keep up with any future topper changes you may try out. There are is also the mvp2 which is my daily work horse and the eleaf istick that i will be recieving shortly and has gotten stellar reviews. The mvp and istick have buiilt in batteries and can pass-thru charge so you can vape while charging.

hope that guides you along a little better.

did you break your lambo down? clean it fully, check to see if the "floating" center pin is actually still floating, and that the battery spring is not gotten "soft" and doesnt push the battery up enough?

Thank you for all the replies. I prefer 'Light sabers' haha. And all of your suggestions are great!

And Fallen: thank you for your idea. This is the kind of advice I was hoping to receive. I don't even know what you mean by center pin. I do understand what you're saying about the battery spring, but if you could clarify the center pin thing a little for me, I will definitely take a close look inside the lambo.

In the picture, I have circled the "center pin", In older vamo's as I understand it.. it is a screw adjustable type, so it has a flat head slot.. and you can screw it up and down a little to make a better connection to the 510 connector of a tank or dripper. In the newer Vamo's it isnt a brass screw, but a "floating pin" which means it is spring loaded. So if you push it down it should push back up when you stop applying pressure. Sometime with floating pin types, they get stuck in a recessed position, either by catching on something, the springs tension lessening over time or because a bit of juice or some other gunk "glues" it down.

Hope that clarifies it for ya.
