Hey guys, Mohit here, I'm located in India so sourcing is tough and a pain, anywho, I've been thinking about pulling the trigger on vaping for a while.
First a little back-story, well I don't smoke, and there are hardly any vapers in India, so I never knew about vaping, until on a keyboard forum (GeekHack) someone mentioned how they vape to taste flavours that are from sources they are allergic to, now this got my interest, I started reading about vaping and the gear and all, I also encouraged a friend of mine (Who is also a member here) to take up vaping and quite analogs, he has successfully been converted.
However I soon found out that I am type-2 diabetic, so I got involved in that and forgot all bout vaping, however I do have a sweet tooth, and an extreme one at that, probably the reason why my blood sugar level are so high. I am able to control my diet and with meds have got my sugar under control, however I do cheat ever so often and eat something sweet (We love our sweets here in India). Due to this problem I discussed with a couple of friends and I tried a drag on my converted friends mod and I actually thought it would be a good idea to use vape as a method to experience "mouthful" of sweet flavours without consuming a lot of actual sugar.
Oh and I love DIY, I am a fairly hands=on person and able to achieve what I set out to do on most occasions, so I don't mind jumping straight into DIY juice, RBA's, etc.
Based on a lot of reading and my knowledge of flavours I like, this is my criteria for a hopefully perfect vape for myself:
1. Lots of flavour
2. Cool vape, I don't like hot stuff
3. Fruity flavours
4. Minimal throat hit
5. Clouds would be nice
Based on these requirements, I cam to the following conclusions:
1. No nicotine - Since I have never smoked, I don't need this and throat hit from it
2. No PG except from what is in the flavorings - Again I want minimal throat hit so I don't see a reason to have PG in my juice.
3. 70% VG - I think this should be optimal enough, I don't want to minimise VG as well since it is converted to glucose, however the small amount consumed should not be troublesome.
4. 30% flavor + distilled water - This I think is a good balance with the 70% VG.
I have ordered some stuff to get me started (I know, I know, I should have created this thread before ordering the stuff
)
1. Vamo V5 mod with a pair of VTC4 bats and a XTAR charger - Seemed like a good choice for a cheap VV/VW mod, other option was the SVD (Which is way too big) and the MVP 2.0 (I initially went for this, but then realised I'm not digging the box-mod and I wanted somethign with external battery, also allowing me to use those batteries for a future mech mod)
2. Kraken Clone from FT - Wanted to go for a RBA since I wanted to build the coil exactly to my scenario, since I will be suing it occasionally, I wanted to be able to use it like a dripper while having the option of using the vape for chain-vaping.
3. 28g Kanthal wire - Seemed like a good thickness, to maximise surface area to get good flavour.
4. A long drip tip - I believe this should help deliver a cooler vape
5. 100% VG base and few fruity and menthol flavorings from MBV - Again, attempt for minimal throat hit and cool sweet flavours.
6. DIY stuff - Various gauge needles, various volume syringes, some measuring cylinders, various size PET bottles, small glass vials. I do dabble in electronics so I do have multimeter, tweezers, soldering gear if needed, wire cutters, etc.
Wow, that was long for a first post!
I need help in figuring out if the choices I have made are correct? And what would be a good coil setup to suit my needs. Any and all help is welcome
