Relatively speaking, I'm a short-time lurker. I've been lurking for as long as I could take it before becoming "involved" with the community, which lasted all of 3 weeks! Haha.

My short story:
About 3 weeks ago my wife and I started with a Greensmoke Lovebird Kit. We had been off and on with disposables but never able to quit. Much to our frustration, we were unable to quit with Greensmoke as well. After a week, I switched over to an eGo style Vision Spinner 1300mah with a number of Vivi Nova tanks and within a day I was able to quit. My wife just got her Vision Spinner in and I'm happy to report that her analog days are numbered. :toast:

I owe a huge thanks to the support of this community. There were times where my cravings were intense when kicking the analogs, and I looked to the support threads for inspiration. Even though I've been lurking, I've gained a wealth of knowledge from the forum and I'm so glad to be a part of the community.

So now that I'm here, I want to know about some bad purchases you've made along your journey - whether new to vaping or a long-time vaper. I've kicked the analogs, and I've got a very small setup... a single VV Spinner, and several tanks. No backup or anything (I keep unopened disposables around always, just in case). Every time I go to look at a backup unit, I can't help but think, "why waste the money... save up for a solid investment like a Provari".

So I pose this to everyone reading: You've got your initial setup, kicked the analogs, now what?

Congratulations to you and your wife. I looked hard and long at the Greensmoke kits! I decided to go with an eGo, but regret just a few weeks later that I did not buy a variable voltage battery. I have tried many clearomizers, and have my first wickless and an EVOD in the mail, along with the GotVapes Phoenix (really excited to try that!). Only regret was not getting vv, and so it will be my next purchase. I aim to make the vv my primary pv, with my current kit as a backup. I like, just think the variable voltage comes in handy with how juices taste and produce vapor. I'm not big on throat hit, I am a "sipper" when it comes to vaping, and prefer a smoother vape and the vv allows that option! Sounds like you did great! Welcome to ECF!!!

I'm in same boat as you, still have just the starter kit and don't know if I really want more. I even considered starting with a greensmoke kit originally but wound up going to a local shop for an Ego kit instead. Probably only smart thing I've done since at least for me it has worked, not so much for my wife.

Not that there's anything wrong with the Greensmoke, as its definitely better than the disposable e-cigs, and it worked to help me cut down the cigarettes from nearly 2 packs a day to under half a pack. But it was the VV eGo that really helped me kick the analogs entirely.

Best of luck to your wife! Mine is still smoking a few a day, but she's come down from a pack a day. Even though she still smokes, I'm loving the vaping and not tempted to go back to cigs.

Ok bad purchase history. 2 blu kits 1 v2 kit one bull smoke kit. A stacked battery mod scared me away from vaping 400 roughly there. I also bought a few different bloog kits liked those. Then I moved onto a evic helped me totally quit. Then as a gift a brand new provari v2. If I had not gone through all the crap I would not love the setup I got. The month of may will be juices and a new experience in direct dripping. Cheers welcome to ecf.

Thanks much for your thoughts! The VV is definitely an invaluable tool for vaping. I picked up a Smoktech DCT the other day - is that considered a wickless tank? Don't think I've heard that term before.

Yeah it seems like a lot of people start with something similar to the Blu/GreenSmoke setup. But I've just noticed in all my reading that eventually, everyone seems to end up with something like the Provari or _______ [substitute blank with any reliable mod system]. Definitely going through those setups and moving to the eVic and Provari probably helps you appreciate those significantly more. I'm trying to avoid putting purchases towards anything else that isn't a permanent vaping solution.

I'm not familiar with the Smoktech DCT, but I did a quick Google search and it appears that it's a dual coil. That means that it has a coil (with a wick-I think) on the top and bottom of the tank. This is what I have on order: Wickless CE4 Clearomizer for eGo. I would like to see if having only a wire mesh and not the actual wicking material changes the taste of the eliquid. I am a newbie, so I am trying out a lot of products trying to find my sweet spot! Like I said earlier, with all of the clearomizers I have, I am hoping that once I get my vv battery, I'll have my dream kit. I am not looking for an expensive kit just yet (though I could have probably bought one by now!) maybe later. I am having fun learning while trying things out!

I've made 3 mistakes since starting to vape. The biggest mistake I've made was putting more emphasis on the PV rather than the juices. I finally kicked analogues once I found a juice I liked(Copper Creak House Blend). Another mistake I made was continuing to buy/try juices once I found one I liked. I have $150 in juices sitting around that I bought after my cc juices that I tried a couple of times from various recommended companies, which I didn't like any of them. The last mistake was getting replacement coils(for an EVOD) at 2.5 ohms(all they had at the time) rather than the 1.8 ohm. I needed to vape at higher volts which drains the battery faster.

If your looking for a good, solid vv mod that won't break the bank, I would recommend the Itaste MVP. It's a great unit and the complete kit costs about $60 and comes with 2 dual coil cleros. I would also try a BCC like the Evod to see if you prefer top or bottom coil cleros.

My first was a Fin from Wal-Mart...ewwwwww put it down quickly and picked up my stinkies and felt better. My next was an ego-T, that made me quit the stinkies for good! After that it was on to a Vision Spinner 1300 mah and that is my current setup as well. I don't see me every going to any other battery cause I am getting exactly what I need and want from my Spinners. I have 2 protanks, an iclear 16, a Kanger T3 and an Evod, with 2 Spinners. I am a very happy vaper and can't imagine going back to stinkies. I have several e-juices but have just recently started making my own.

I am a very happy camper and am very satisfied with my setup. In the end, that's all that really matters right? It's not about what you have, it's about how well it works for you, it's about staying away from the analogs.

Welcome to the forum and I hope your wife follows you in giving up the analogs, she will love her Spinner, just make sure she has a good tank/clearo.

Very interesting. I have not seen these. So the inside post of this uses a wire mesh? I googled and couldn't find what was inside of it. The Smoktech has the filler material (cotton or whatever it is), and inside that yes, two coils. And I totally hear you on buying an expensive piece of equipment, but I'm trying to avoid buying a bunch of stuff that will end up just becoming a backup because as I've said, it just seems that everyone eventually goes to a mod.

so for all the juices that you dont use (i have about 15 bottles myself that just collect dust) I just found a local 'juice meet' which is basically a meet-up of fellow vapors that you use to trade juices with others.

I would try seeing if you can find something similar around your area.. that way you can give those juices to someone who might like them, and get something for yourself as well.

Thanks for sharing some of the mistakes you've made! I'm absolutely with you on the juices. I went to a few local shops to find a good juice that I can procure locally should I really need something. Now that I've got a good source, I'm starting to look at online shops. I've heard Copper Creek is great, in particular the House Blend. I have heard a number of good things about the MVP - definitely one I'll be looking at when I'm ready for the next piece of equipment.
