Hello everyone! My name is Sherlock, I'm from Arizona and I'm new to this whole thing.

I started learning about ecigs and vaping since my mom has been trying to stop smoking for several years. The cigalikes did nothing for her and she has a generic ecig (with old juice in it that has barely any flavor) that she was trying to get used to. As I started learning more about vaping for her, I started learning for myself as well.

I'm not a smoker, but have always enjoyed smoking. I'm just paranoid about it actually killing me. I also over eat and it tends to come from cravings. I saw that some people use vaping to control cravings.

And as weird as this sounds, other than helping my mom to be healthier, I hope that this will be something we can enjoy together.

Since I don't have anything yet, I'm thinking of getting two migcigs (Mom likes the shape of the cigalikes for obvious reasons) or two Ego ones. I would like to get either the iTaste MVP or the Kanger Subkit Mini (it looks like a Storm Trooper!). I'm also interested in coil building of all things.

The community also interests me. It seems very tight knit, fun, and full of people who will fight for what they believe in.

This is long so I will take off!

Hi back!
*waves frantically *
I just stumbled upon this awesome forum myself tonight, after quitting a 10 yr cigarette habit by the help of vaping 1 1/2 years ago. I have been using a vape pen that my husband put together for me but really want to get into the whole box mod side of it and know what it all means basically, haha.
I'm glad that I'm not the only noob out there :)

Thanks! <3 I think she's smoking at 18? I'm still fairly new to all this (even learning) but I think if we get her a new kit with a little more air flow and all that (although she doesn't want anything "complicated") that it will help a lot. Especially with all the other stuff. The other thing is, she tried flavors once two years ago (a really bad strawberry one) and now she won't try anything new. So she vapes (sometimes) a plain nicotine with one drop of menthol (0% nic) and it's OK (I don't like the taste), but I can't see how she can be getting any enjoyment out of it. She's a two pack a day smoker, so we want to at least cut it in half. Her cough has gotten so bad.

I don't smoke because I'm paranoid. I'm afraid I will die. To me it's hilarious that my brain is like "Don't touch that cig or nicotine product!" I wonder if my dad knows about the epipes. I should ask him.

Welcome.

Just take you time and ask a lot of questions. Guessing you don't normally open your wallet and pour money down the drain... I would seriously recommend you ask about the kits or hardware you have lined up. A lot of what goes on in the e-cig world is not how it appears.
A lot of brands will sell you readily available hardware with their own logos for maximum profit and minimum customer care. One the of *fake top rated* e-cigs in the US is $120 for a $30 e-cig.

@ Renee Glad you were able to stop the death sicks, Congrats! .... @ DetectiveAlways Yes, the Kanger Subox mini kit is an awesome mod for sure and a wise choice on your part. You can't go wrong with that setup for sure.

Yes, there are lots of helpful and nice people on this forum. I have participated in lots of forums ( of various subjects ) in my day and this forum has a community that is the best I have ever seen. Many folks here are liable to jump on this thread and tell you that if you are not a smoker then you should not start vaping. While I do tend to err on the side of caution as their may be "potential" long term health risks, I also have no opinion one way or the other as to if someone should start vaping if they never smoked.

Anyway, welcome to both of you and I hope you have fun here and learn lots :)

Hi @DetectiveAlwaysWrite and @Renee+Hay=Yay and welcome to the forum!

Good on both of you for looking into vaping! IMHO, it's the easiest way yet to either cut down on or quit smoking! @DetectiveAlwaysWrite - Your mom will enjoy a better setup for sure, and might benefit from a higher nic juice as the nic helps cut the cravings. Remember to have backups. that way, one device can be charging while you happily vape on the other.

Hope it helps and Happy Vaping!

Hello to you both! I was a 2 pack a day smoker who swore I couldn't stop. But I tried a Kanger Evod setup, which is inexpensive and easy to use. I got 2 batteries so I always had one charged up and have been vaping ever since. It's easy to use and I just used plain nic.. Good luck and keep researching :)

and welcome! you are in the right place! there are some excellent options available now for box mod 'starters' (one of my personal faves is the kanger subox kit - very versatile, user friendly) - what kind of setup are you currently using (battery, tank, coils, nic level?) - that will help give a point of reference for suggestions :)

Hi and welcome. I personally like more power than you can get from the pens, but that's a personal thing. I think just about everybody agrees the cigalikes don'tvdo a very good job.

+1 on the fake ciggies ...... Yeah I like more power than pens provide but yet not too much power, unless I am in the chucking mood. I often vary my wattage just for the heck of it and for experimentation sake and I will often vape between 10w and 35w as it depends upon the build I have on the mod and particular juice I am using. On my setup I can usually get a cool but large cloud at 15w and above. But the cloud starts to get a tad bit warm when I start going above the 35 or 40 w range..... Some folks love hot vapes.......... Personally, I can live with or without them. I prefer somewhere in between hot and cool, sort of a "mild" warmth but not too warm. Batteries last a heck of a lot longer at 20w too lol.
