Hello! This is my story

I'm probably an anomaly, but I quit smoking analogs about 22 years ago. Had not picked them up since then or even been tempted. Then a couple of friends were able to switch from smoking analogs to vaping e-cigs and for the first time I was tempted. It seemed like you get the best of smoking without the negative (except cost). I realized I have missed the act of smoking, just did not want (or miss) the nasty parts (unhealthy, smell, etc). So I bought my first ecig - an Njoy. Really liked the taste but at $9 a cig realized that was going to get expensive real fast. I tried the Blu, but didn't like the flavor. Green Stick was pretty good but again, expensive and didn't last long. To get away from the disposables I bought the 21st Century rechargeable. Thought the flavor was pretty good (menthol) and have been on those for a few months. Bought some eliquid and have been refilling the cartridges so the expense has gone way down. I don't care for the flavored eliquids, just like menthol. I've got a Joyetech e-roll kit ordered so I will refill the 21st cartos until that arrives. The only "issue" (for lack of a better word) I've had is that I seem to get accustomed to the flavor, like after vaping one flavor for a while I don't seem to taste it as much. I've bought a couple different brands of menthol and switch them around and that seems to help.

Another of my reasons for picking this up after so long is that I feel I will eat less & can lose some of this extra weight. I've lost about 5 pounds so far. When I smoked analogs I stayed skinny because I didn't eat while the "taste" of the cigarette was still in my mouth. Plus I'd stop eating sooner so I could go smoke. I do this now but do it with my ecig.

I am keeping my habit from my family because I don't want to hear the criticism I know they would have (can't believe you are going back after so long...). But I can vape 10 seconds before they walk in the room and they don't suspect a thing because there is no lingering odor. I'm sure I will "come out" soon, but I just wanted to share my story here first, for what it's worth.

Welcome to ecf.

I have heard of closet smokers(altho, can't quite get my head around ppl not noticing the smell) but a closet vaper? Well, guess there's a first time for it all. LOL

What level(if any) of nicotine are you using?

Look around, ask questions if you have any. There is a vast amt of info here.

:)

Hiya! I also quit a long time ago (it'll be 14 years in April) but love vaping even though I would never smoke another cigarette again. My boyfriend is also an on-again off-again smoker and was stoked when I broached the idea of vaping - he'd been interested but was worried about what I'd think. Now we're both vaping up a storm and loving it. I admit that my initial intention was only to vape 0mg but more and more I find myself going for the low-nicotine stuff, especially in the morning; and you're right, it's a great appetite suppressant. I don't think I've really snacked since I started vaping and have also lost several pounds.

I love vaping. I get all of the things I loved about smoking and none of the stuff I hated.

Welcome to ECF. :)

Hi and Welcome to ECF!

I have seen a few similar posts recently - former smokers picking up an ecig as they enjoyed the act of smoking but had no desire or genuine want to pick up the old tobacco. Its certainly a wiser decision and if it makes you happy and helps you continue to not smoke - vape away :)

Using the same flavor does seem to cause a little "vapers tongue" its kind of an exhaustion of the olfactory senses dumping the same flavor in constantly. I have a totally different than my norm flavor I rotate in when things taste bland and tastes come right back! Good oral hygiene (extra good really) helps and hydration :)

Welcome to ECF. Congrats on the original quit! Not sure how I feel about taking up nic after all these years, but you're old enough to know what you're doing by now. I'd just be done and stay done at that point...maybe suck on a Tic Tac if I wanted zero calorie flavor. But, hopefully you're able to keep to zero mg as much as possible, just would hate to see the addiction kick back in and back to analogs, should something go awry. Surely your remember all that?

Thanks for sharing! Welcome!
