I have been smoking tobacco for 30+ years, the last 5 or more RYO.

I enjoy smoking, but hate standing in the cold, and REALLY hate the stink that goes with it. I am ready for a change.

I noticed that many prefer the "510"(?). I am looking for suggestions on what to get. I like the idea of VG, and I like a decent draw.

I am considering ordering a larger model with longer battery life for at home and maybe a smaller cig-like version for out-and-about. I have no problem with hands-on operation like filling cartridges(?) and doing mods. I am sure that after a short while I will be attempting to make my own juice.

Can you gurus please give me some info on which large and small models to look at (and links) and what juices to consider? I am not much into "flavors" - I like the Virginia tobaccos. Want decent battery life. May be willing to get a "starter kit" in order to get multiple chargers, etc.

Should I even bother considering the BLU?

Should I consider the Screwdriver and the 510?

Looking forward to hearing from you experts.

Ditto - forget the Blu. I can see some merit in going directly for a larger battery mod rather than fool around with the smaller batteries. But by the same token, you can "get in" fairly inexpensively with a kit just to make sure you like vaping and in the meanwhile continue to read and explore this forum. I ordered too quickly and bought too many things that I find I now do not use. Just move a little cautious.

Welcome to ECF ecitek! :) I would second the Tornado by Totally Wicked or the eGo by Janty. The Tornado has wonderful battery life and produces a very nice throat hit with alot of vapor. I would also say that the 510 is also a wonderful choice. My husband uses the Tornado and I am a 510 fan. If you decide on a 510, I would certainly go to Cignot.com and purchase one of their kits. They have the best prices and the customer service cannot be beat. As far as ejuice goes, well, we all have different tastes. I would certainly recommend Tasty Vapor, My Freedom Smokes, DIY Flavorshack and Ms. T's. You can read more in the ECF Supplier forum. Lots of great information there. The amount of ejuice needed varies from person to person. I would certainly recommend that you get a couple of ejuices with varied strengths and flavors. Remember, when you start vaping and not smoking the analogs, your taste buds will change. What tastes great now, you may not like next week and vice versa. Good Luck!

I haven't figured out how much is equivalent for me yet or even if it's an individual thing. A more experienced vapor may know.

I was one of those who thought that I would only want tobacco flavors when I started. Boy, was I wrong. ;-) I am using Ms T's Orange Juice in the morning and any number of different flavors from other vendors throughout the day. I have also begun mixing my own a bit. I like my VG based Butter Rum.

My intent was to at least cut down. With the upcoming ban on shipping analogs in the mail (I was ordering over the Internet) and the outrageous price increases, I just could no longer justify the cost. I was smoking American Spirits, so, at least, I wasn't getting most of the chemicals in traditional cigs. I do plan on quitting completely now. I am just being patient with myself. I haven't bought any analogs since before I bought my 510, but that last order was 6 cartons. Still have four left where normally I would have bought another 5 or 6 at the beginning of this month.

I purchase from a number of vendors. I got my first 510 from Parked at Dietsmokes.com and then one from myPVshop.com (wanted a copper/gold one) and then one from Cignot.com for a friend. Cignot.com has the best prices, from what I saw. The Tornado was from Totally Wicked (be sure you are at the US shop, not the UK shop) since Janty was out of the eGo. Also, TW came with 2 attys where Janty only supplied one. Janty has a better warranty though.

For juices so far, I've use Ms T's Bakery, myPVshop, intellicig, and a number of others. I'm on a search for the best for me. Totally Wicked's juices are expensive, but some of the flavors look very intriguing.

Can you recommend WHAT to get as far as a TWT "starter" package? I don't mind ordering items separately - but need to know what items I will need. Like, how many batteries, what chargers, what liquids to get started, etc.

I am looking forward to getting started. I am sure that my tastes will change, but at this point I am CLUELESS.

If I can get a good list of suggested items I will place an order later today. Until then I will do a lot of reading here.

Can you get a basic nicotine liquid and then a few flavors that you add to it? Is there a good liquid starter assortment that will give me an idea without spending an arm and a leg?

I have heard people say that they prefer cartridges for travel and dripping at home - what do I need to be able to do that?

BTW - I have been able to keep my tobacco costs down to about $30 a month, due to bulk RYO. How much do you save (or not) by Vaping?

1. The TW Tornado Starter Kit comes with 2 batteries, 2 atomizers, an adapter to fit the battery on the charger, the charger and a bottle with different strength cartridges. I would order some juice and some empty 510 carts from someone else. Personally, I haven't tried the TW prefilled carts yet. Have no idea how they taste.

2. It's hard to say what flavor juices you will like. We are all different. If you can figure it out, try to avoid the DeKang juices. I haven't been impressed with them. Some of the suppliers just resell them. I did just order from Tasty Vapor and am waiting for an order from Ms. T's Bakery.

3. Yes, you can mix your own. There are a couple of subforums here all about that. I'm doing my own Butter Rum, Watermelon and Orange Cream right now. You might want to wait a couple of weeks before trying though. Get used to your Tornado first.

4. Nothing more than what you will be getting from TW. I tend to stick with carts, but I'm on the road a lot. I have some extra atomizers that I dedicate to specific flavor families and just swap them as desired.

5. Since I'm only in my second month, I haven't saved a cent yet. In fact, I suspect that I've spent more than I usually do per month. I refuse to add it up though. I'm sure that once I settle in that I will be saving a lot.

If I had it to do all over again:) I would get 2 "no box" 510 kits from www.cignot.com they also sell Ecopure vg juice from the U.K. which is very good. That will give you enough to get started and be able to tell if you want to vape. They have super fast shipping also. I use pyramid teabag for the cartridges for better flavor.

For a mod that will just plain work the 1st time and every time and not break the bank, I would buy either a lil chuck or chuck from www.thagbuilt.com . You'll get about 2 days of vaping from 1 batt. Then recharge. I prefer the 510 atty because it burns hotter, more throat hit and is pretty sturdy.

For batteries for mods www.batteryjunction.com . Decent prices and decent ship times:) Wow, that was a dimes worth:)

I spoke to Parked at DietSmokes and he was very helpful. I think I have decided on the Janty eGo. Looks cool, long battery life, nice big cloud!

Maybe down the line I will get a 510 for backup.

There is a ego/tornado setup in the classifieds:)
