Hi Guys,

Greetings! I am in London, UK. In the last few days I discovered vaping! On saturday last week (12th) I decided to buy a starter kit for my wifey, she wasn't entirely sure about it because she is taking champix (the whole reason this all came about - we need to quit!) and the champix I guess made her not even want the e-cig, well on the other hand I totally LOVED it!

I have been smoking for nearly 17 years (yes I Know, started very young) and have smoked 20-40 fags a day in all that time without breaks, well actually I managed nearly two weeks quit in 2008 but that is it, total.

When I started reading about the e-cig and how it works, and subsequently found out about how the patches (and the rest of the governments approved methods) work in comparison, I was completely blown away. This is a revolutionary piece of equipment and I cannot fathom why it is not rolled out nationwide. Surely if the government truly care about health then why not treat this as a 'stepping stone' for existing smokers, ban real fags and replace them with this, and at least while they figure out how to properly quit we can all chuff without killing ourselves!!!

Anyway I guess thats all political and blah blah so..... The first ecig I bought (the starter pack for aforementioned wifey) was the DSE901 (from Liberty Flights). Yeah the vape was quite weak compared to what I'd seen on review videos but the concept was there and I loved it (even though its not mine!) and chuff on it now and then like a mad craving even though I'm still on the analogs. Why am I on the analogs you ask? Well it was only last saturday and I am awaiting my riva 901 and dse 901 low resistance combo to arrive in the post with some DIY juice for me to play with, once it arrives I am throwing the fags away and going for it! (pray for me)

Liberty flights were really excellent with their customer service, a guy called Abe has been in contact with me and really really helpful, I missed a discount code - he credited it. I mentioned the weak vape - he sorted it (bad atty). I needed advice - he provided, honest and informative. I would have to see a major price saving to drag me away from this company now because I feel valued and I'm really interacting with Abe, and they seem cheap enough anyway (although nicotine seems to be the most expensive liquid on earth :()
What do other people make of this company? I guess the vape scene knows all about whats out there, I just found this one and it was good so I stuck with it, but there may be better / cheaper ones out there?
Did anyone else notice weak vape with the DSE901 starter pack? So far we think its bad liquid (will test with new when it arrives) - if not the liquid then he'll replace the atty cos then it must be that.

So anyway, sorry for the really long post, didnt really say half of what I started out to say but its turning into a novel! I am so so so so SO grateful for the existence of these devices and I just KNOW they will get me off the cancersticks.

Love to all

Oh yeah, I started out talking about champix but forgot to say what I meant. You have to go doctors etc and do this course blah blah.... I've been prescribed the two week course which I can collect tomorrow, wifey is already on day 8 and intends to quit on day 11. Yeah the stuff works it binds to the nicotine receptors blah blah but the point it, what happens after you finish the pills? When I did my research (apart from the suicide stuff, 39 suicides etc, lets leave that out of it) I found they seriously slanted their 'research' and trials - wifey came in talking about 100% success rates and that immediately sent warning bells ringing in my head, turns out they slant on the 6 week findings, and the 12 month figures are closer to 40%, then from there onwards its all downhill.
(I am not quoting actual figures here or their sources, feel free to check it I'm not far off just can't remember!)
Anyway so after 18 months will she pick up a ...? Will she pick one up after 6 weeks? I don't know and personally having read up on the composition of the 'medicine' I have my own concerns as to its efficacy. SO....

Hopefully tomorrow my cig and juice arrives, as will my champix script, the script is going in the drawer (locked) and I am going hell for leather with the ecig. My aim is to see if I can keep off the fags, if I succeed with the ecig then the champix is disposed of, IF I fail (pray for me!) then I might have to try the suicide bridge pills.

I am hoping against hope that my confidence in these ecigs is not unfounded! I see all you shining people posting your stats on how well you're doing and I am full of confidence. Fingers Crossed!

I've only use DSE901 atty on my KR8 batteries but I do think the DSE901 is an airier vape than my KR8 and 510 but a good tasting vape. However, with a Riva 901 you could use LR (low resistance) atomizers since it has enough power and tough enough circuits to support the higher power draw. Those should give a bigger hit.

And with an adapter (just to provide the air inlets) you could use KR808D-1 cartomizers. You can also get 901 to 510 adapters and use 510 stuff and that's where the largest variety of atomizers and blank cartomizers are.

liberty flights are priced well on starter kits, the rest is about average. Abe is fantastic. I used champix and still smoked after the 2 week mark that they give you up to. or are supposed to make you feel ill. i noticed you said nicotine liquid is most expensive liquid on planet.............because a pack of 20 analogs are what.....cheap? lol when you get into the swing of things you'll notice how much cheaper it is............the initial cost seems high.......but if you quit you will save loads. later on if you diy your own juice you'll save a ton more :)

welcome to ecf and happy vaping :)

Hi thanks for your comments, wow this forum is LIVE! just shows how well loved these life savers are.
@jackoboy82 yeah I see the cost saving is fantastic, I've been trying to work out the cheapest way to make my DIY liquids, and of course researching how to get hold of source materials in case any bans come into effect. The one ingredient I can't get my head around is how to get nicotine? Anyway I don't want to spark off a massive discussion on its dangers on this thread, I've read hundreds of similar threads and I have worked in labs and understand etc blah blah, I just want to find a cheap cut source at safe levels to save me having to suit up - a source that will still be available in the event of a ban and not one that involves distilling dirty stinking tobacco with all its chemicals!

Oh I found cheaper VG, 5 litres is in the post to me, FCC food grade and I think it was around £6 or so? So thats available pretty much easily found. and the PG the same, flavours I'm sure will always be available.... just the dreaded N juice!
Anyway I'm happy buying the liq'd from LF for now, they are cheap enough, I was just curious for above mentioned reasons!

I'm a newbie so can't post links, but look for a user called "biostain-on-e-bay" on.. you guessed it.. Ebay!
Looking back I think my quantity was out, I didn't buy 5 litres for £6 (bad memory), but check them out because whatever it is it was the cheapest I could find anywhere on the net, and one that I trusted (FCC certified certificate is traceable)
BUT... If its not as cheap as I think, please please post your source!

EDIT: Just checked, I bought 500ml for £2.50 or so (add postage and its £6), I intended to cut that down to 5 liters worth of juice so thats where I got the 5l from! Silly me.

EDIT, they sell 5 Liters, from them is £14.75

I'm using the ejuice calculator from todmuller.com to work out my recipe, just keep changing the amounts until the nicotine ml's match what I have to mix with and then can go from there. This is all only theory though until my first batch of juice arrives (hopefully) in the morning! I might stay up all night I'm so excited lol!

cool, you should of been able to send me a private message via my profile, but never mind lol. try boots for vg, paid 1.50 ish for 250ml ;-)

Sorry didnt think about pm, I don't want to use the boots one as I heard it's not food grade? plus this ebay stuff works out roughly the same price anyway so I'll stock up and use boots if its a dire emergency lol

Just an update on me, I got my Riva 901 with dse901 lr atty and lots of lovely juice this morning!
I'm chuffing away on two mixes, one about 12mg nic with strawberry flavour (used calculator again) and the other a strawberry flavour with one or two drops of nic, reason is I'm going at this like crazy and dont want to overdo the nicotine so alternating!
I want an analog now and then, its only 11:17am and I've thought twice about picking up a ..., I need to tie the e-cig into my habit somehow, might go to the window with it like I do when I have a .... But I'm determined!!

if you're craving a cig then i'd suggest upping your nic level to around 18mg. i understand what you mean about not wanting to overdo it, i was the same at the start. always felt like i needed a cig. then on the advice of ecf members i increased my nic level. i now vape 24mg as standard, but i do have some that are like 8mg that i go onto later in the day. what i noticed was a) i wasnt craving the cig any more b) i used it less.................dont be afraid to up the nic level, it'd take hell of a lot of vaping at a higher level to be dangerous. the first thing to break is the smoking habit..............i went down the my e-cig needs to look like a real cig route and failed. did the same routine with it, would go outside with it, use on breaks at work (outside), failed! I changed my whole routine with the e-cig, increased nic, and now im not dependant on it. the other day all my batteries were dead and it didnt even bother me. put them on charge and carried on with my day.................though later on i did realise i had a pass through in the draw that i could have used lol. I hope this works for you at the level you're at........just don't suffer needlessly because you don't want to use a little more nic :)
