Hello everyone.

So after reading about ecigs for a while and watching ecig youtube vids I decided to finally try it and I got a starter kit yesterday. It's an elektro, only 40 something bucks for a starter kit. Im sure there are better ones out there, but I never wanted to buy online and the gas station carried this one, so elektro it was. The instruction manual was filled with typos and bad grammar (that always makes me feel safe hah) but overall, so far so good, it works well. I also got an extra pack of cartridges, because for some reason I wouldn't be suprised if the gas station suddenly runs out or discontinues them.

I have some questions for the pros, any help would be appreciated.

1) easy question, but just to be sure, I can just leave the cartridge attached to the battery when not in use right?

2) How long before the cartridges "expire"? In other words, when I attach a new cartridge, how long do I have to use it before it goes bad and I have to change it? Im a light smoker (avg 2 packs per week) so I expect these cartridges to last a while.

3) can the e cig and the extra cartridges be stored in cold temperatures? Its starting to get in the 20s around now and I want to keep them in the car.

4) the cleaning process. The instruction manual says its automatic (after 1500 drags or something), but it doesnt get into detail. how does this work and how long does it take?

I think thats it for now but I'm sure there are more to come. Thanks!

Leaving the cartridge attached is fine. Cartridges usually claim to be anywhere from 3-5 regular cigarette's worth. They usually fall somewhat short. Might not last you too long. Just judge by if the flavor starts to drop off, or if the vapor production declines, you'll know it's spent. I don't know the exact properties of e-cig juice but I probably wouldn't leave it in a below freezing car. Put them in your pocket and bring them inside. Not sure what type of cleaning they are referring to. Welcome to the forums. How come you don't want to buy online? There's a whole world of products with better flavor and more vapor once you're ready to step away from the convenience store models.

Welcome! I can not give you answers to your questions, as I am a 30 day newbie. This will probably be a trial and error thing for you on your journey. I have read many, many posts and information here, every day for the last 5 weeks, and I am still learning.
Some of the more experienced ones here, will answer and help you thru the process. Good Luck on your journey. I quit analogs after only 2 weeks ecig use and I am not looking back.
My only thoughts to you, is read and learn and the best place for you to buy....is online. More choices, better brands and there are some great vendors out there who can offer a ton more info than the service station attendant, who I'm sure.....offered you none.

Welcome to ECF, and vaping!!

1) Not sure what your actual model is but if it's an automatic battery, (no button to vape)
you may want to disconnedt the cartridge to be sure no juice leaks into the battery.
It's a battery killer.

2) When the taste changes, vapor lesens change it, it's toast.

3) PV depends on heat to produce vapor, so 20's may be harsh on the battery and
atty (that's what produces the vapor)

4) The pictures of your setup appears to be a two piece, so the battery doesn't need
cleaning, (other than wiping off the threaded portion) and the rest you're throwing
away.

THAT SAID, you should check out http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/120044-i-made-videos-newbies-particular-broke-newbies.html it goes into noob vaping in detail. And there are many cheaper and more satisifying
models and options you could use.

Thanks everyone, for your input. I want to buy online but the fam thinks I quit cold turkey. So, I prefer to go and get the stuff myself rather than have it delivered to the house. When I get a new place I suppose it will be okay, but for now i think i'd rather keep the vaping a covert operation. Its alot easier to hide without the stench, the butts, and the lighters!

If possible you could try explaining vaping to your family, you're trying to break a very strong addiction and
deserve their support. ECF has many posts regarding some studies how vaping helps, nicotine is not the problem
the other 6,000 chems in analogs are the problem.
How so many of us have given up life long addictions, almost overnight with vaping. I for one have tried every
possible "stop smoking" method to break a 35+ pad habit, multiple times without success.
Vaping actually worked for me.

A little research on ECF and you may find the arguments you need to get them on your side, in the long run
their support will help you quit.

Thanks, Stosh. I definately do have their support, but there will certainly be alot of skepticism. I am a skeptic as well, I really wish more studies had been conducted on this product. Nobody seems to really know anything. But thats another issue altogether. Right now I'm just happy that when I sit in traffic tomorrow morning I know I will grab this instead of a real cigarette.

Referring to the cleaning process...the manual says "This product has the microcomputer procedure automatic control design, this Device has Automatic replacement function. When the user inhales for 1500 times in accumulaiton, the indication light at the front of the "E-Cigarette" body will Shine continuously for 8 seconds, which shows that the computer controlled program is automatically carrying out the cleaning task on this device and guarantees the product service life." Is this for real? How does this work? Sounds strange

Yep, sounds very strange to me. I just don't see how this could possibly be true.

Do you mind if I ask what model you bought and where you purchased it? How much you paid, etc.

Well congratulations on your decision! Stick with ECF and you'll go far!

Many nice people and LOTS of support, and even skepticism. No one here
wants to go from bad to worse. If anything is studied or written about vaping
anywhere in the world, it seems there's a link here the next day.

p.s. cleaning process sounds like hogwash! advertising at it's worst.

Does anyone ever notice that some cartridges are sticker than others? I have a few that are like this. Is this indicative of a damaged/leaking cartridge? Also, these cartridges tend to be noiser than others, they make some kind of gurgling sound when I take a puff. They seem to work anyway though. Should I avoid them, do you think they might damage the battery?

As indicated earlier, I use an elektro...2 parts: one battery and i think the detatchable cartridge includes the atomizer, could be mistaking though.
