Hello to all,

Unfortunately I have to report that my venture into e-smoking is going to be a short one.
I have bought a Screwdriver which I love, no smell, no coughing but after reading a lot of Kate's post about the e-juice used for vaping I decided it is not right for me.
So right now I am looking to sell my new 3 day old toy :-(. But I need to have a small amount of posts to actually start a thread in the swap forum.
I would like to thank Kate for all her helpful information!

I don't think I've ever said that smoking was safer or healthier than vaping. All I've ever done was try to be honest about what we know about vaping.

My view is that I think vaping is probably safer than smoking so if that's the only other option for you then you might not be doing yourself any favours by ruling vaping out.

Just because there might be risks doesn't mean they are significant or comparable with the known risks of smoking.

Well I am stopping because of the PG or PEG used in the e-juice. That really concerns me. There is a lot of discussion as to what happens when it gets vaporized, whether there is the possibility it could turn toxic. Smoking analogs is probably much worse, but I am a chemist nor Dr.. I did smoke and found this a great substitution but given the choices I may have to quit altogether :-(.

You can't beat good old fresh air Wharfrat, that's what our lungs are made for :)

Vaping isn't for everyone and nobody should try to make you ignore the doubts about it. Try to keep perspective though, where we don't know about vaping, we do know that smoking is pretty bad.

For me the choice is between smoking and vaping and for myself I have no doubt that vaping is better.

All the best with whatever works for you.

No Kate (and wow I finally get to message you :) ) I realize you never said that smoking was safer. I would definitely believe that too.

I just am concerned about the points that have been brought up over the use of flavorings and PEG or PG.

Again, it just is not right for me. I am not here to tell others what to do or think, I just thought I would mention what I thought.

Not sure what you have read about toxicity of PG, but is now a good time to tell you that PG is in cigarettes anyhow?

Yes I realize that, along with the other 4000 other chemicals. Anin not my place to say what some one else should do or shouldn't just brought up my concerns.

As I mentioned I think I may quit all together.

I wish you much luck! I tend to think that some people here are alarmist...... They *have done studies on the PG and heating, look up the results of fog machines in theatrics.

I bet there are plenty of people who see the lack of testing and proof of health claims and wonder why the hype. It makes me suspicious when I see magic bullet type claims about vaping and I hate the rose tinted spectacles we're told to wear.

Ignore the evangelists and extremists and do what you think is best for you.

All the best with it.

Just for what it is worth- before I joined this forum and was just reading along, your lack of any rose tint in your glasses at all almost swayed me away from trying it. lol

If it encouraged you to engage your brain and not follow blindly then I see that as a good thing.

Informed consent is the bedrock of freedom. Without honest information you are a slave to marketing claims.

I don't rave about how good vaping is anymore even though I think it's great because there is so little balance with the number of other people doing that.

It totally did get me thinking- although I was not rose colored to start with, skeptic by nature that I am. But I cannot help but rave- I tell people the good bad and ugly- and have even argued with the sellers at SE about their lies. But I so deeply believe its safer, period- that if asked I do tell them my opinion. People are sheep, I feel like if I dont state some facts they will buy into the SE bs about it being FDA approved etc, but flip side I hate people reading that PG makes your lungs bleed when no study ever has shown that to be true. I stay middle ground!
