Hi, I'm new around here. I have been vaping on and off for the past year. Started with Blu, then switched to Vea, and I'm currently using an Ego with a T3-S and a sort of Vivi Nova knockoff thing.

I have tried Johnson Creek Smoke juice, a juice from a local vendor that is awful, and am currently vaping VapeDudes juice.

I am not a complete newbie to vaping and I do a ton of research. I am hoping that my current issues can be resolved with ECF's help!

One of my top issues right now is juice.

I have read through these forums for hours and I have found that many haven't taken a liking to Johnson Creek Juice. My boyfriend and I however love it. We loved it from the beginning and though our adventures in juiceland are not extensive we haven't vaped anything that comes close to JC.

JC juices seem to have a complex flavor with no gross undertones.

He loves the Tennessee Cured and we both are in love with Vanda and Merango. Wisconsin Frost was my first love. Swiss Dark is nice but doesn't seem to have an overwhelming flavor. But all of the JC juice tastes full bodied. We ordered 100% VG. Our second order of Tennessee Cured was 100% PG, we didn't like it as much as the VG version, but it was still good. No funny taste. JC juice is fresh Barnies Coffee.

The juice we got from a local vendor seems thin. Not really the consistency, but it tastes thin. Even though the some of the flavors are nice and prominent, there seems to be a terrible undertone to the liquid. At first I thought it was maybe alcohol, like rubbing alcohol almost. Then I thought it was maybe because it is 24mg of nicotine- but all our juice is and we never had a problem. It even almost burns the back of our throats. It made me slightly nauseous. It was a blend of PG&Vg, not sure how much of what. If JC juice is Barnies coffee, this juice is dirt mixed with water, with some pesticides for flavor. It doesn't even get a brand name, not even Maxwell House.

We were really excited about our VapeDudes order. We purchased Blue Honey, Mocha Java Nut, and Pumpkin Cheesecake.
The Blue honey is probably our favorite. Although it doesn't taste like actual blueberries, or honey. But it's kind of a candy version of what we expected. That isn't a bad thing. But it wasn't like JC's Merango- biting into a fresh strawberry. The Mocha Java Nut is supposed to taste like a white Chocolate Macadamia Nut cookie and coffee. It's good, but if I hadn't read the description I wouldn't have known what exactly what this juice was supposed to taste like. I was so excited about the pumpkin cheesecake. It doesn't taste like pumpkin cheesecake. I don't know what it tastes like. My biggest issue with VapeDudes juice is that it also has that thin quality and we sometimes still get that icky taste. We ordered 50/50 PG&VG. This would be Dunkin' Donuts coffee. Not terrible, but if we had to choose between Dunkin' Donuts coffee or making coffee at home, we'd make it at home.

I don't know if anyone knows what I mean when I say the juice tastes "thin". I'm not sure how to explain it, other than my coffee examples. We are looking for a full bodied juice. A juice that tastes like what it says it tastes like. That doesn't have any weird flavor.

We really want to try different vendors. While we love JC juice, we want a little more variety. But now we are nervous. We don't have a lot of money and we really don't want to buy cigarettes.

On a side note, we never steeped JC juice. We won't bother steeping the local stuff. But we are sort of steeping the VapeDudes juice. It's all we have right now so we have to use it. But it is being stored with the caps off in a dark place and doesn't get touched for about 2-3 days at a time. When we refill we recap the bottle and give it a good shake. Then back it goes into it's dark home.

Hello Amanda, and welcome to ECF.

If you search or have searched thru the eliquid forum you will find that tastes are soooo subjective.
What one person loves, another hates. One persons trash is another persons treasure type thingy.

Like most people, I am also in search of an eliquid that tastes like it says it does. I mean Oreo cookie should taste like Oreo cookie not like the cardboard off a notepad, or aftershave, or some kind of chemical

So far I have found that no one company makes all good juices. Some are good ...some are awful. Some companies seem to specialize in awful. (LSmoke)

It seems to be a matter of finding the right flavors, with the right company, in the right proportions (PG/VG), at the right price, the right Nic level, Soooooo many variables to fulfill :p

Best of luck in your search

I absolutely know that tastes are subjective and I have more or less devoured the eliquid forum.

I know my boyfriend are only 2 out of many, but we both are picking up on the same taste- that thin, alcohol like taste. If we could figure out what it is we would be better able to decide which juice to purchase.

I just haven't come across anyone else who has brought up this chemical/thin taste so I'm just grasping at straws. I was hoping someone might know what I'm talking about and be able to say- "Hey, that's the nicotine your'e tasting" or "That's common with PG prominent liquids."

Thank you for responding :)

I ordered a sample pack from vapor god and had the same alcoholic flavor when I first tried it. I think many vendors use alcohol extract flavorants, so they need to be steeped for a day or two with the caps off to allow some of the alcohol to evaporate off, then possibly some additional steep time lids on in the dark.
I feel your pain: finally got a setup I'm happy with, but still haven't come across that elusive "all day vape" everyone speaks so fondly of. Just gotta stick with the trial and error until my taste buds are happy.
While I got some people's attention: anyone recommend a good orange creamsicle flavor? Vapor God's has kind of a sour orange flavor, very little "creamsicle". Picked up EVO tangerine swirl yesterday and same issue - good tangerine flavor, very muted vanilla swirl on the inhale.

Havent looked into any Vape get-togethers yet.... but I could bend yer Ear about MANY Great Bike gatherings, Gotta Luv the sound of multiple Harleys !!!!!

Im no Juice expert by far, but heres my take on a few clues.....
"Thin" ... Could be Heavy on the PG as it is much thinner than VG.
"alcohol" ... Could very well be alcohol as it is used in some mixes, or it could be the chemical taste some refer to. Some flavorings have this taste and some steeping may lessen it.
I get that from a Jamaican Rum concentrate, even @ small percentages.... but after a couple weeks it evens out.

Good Luck in your Quest !

Johnson Creek black cherry is probably my favorite juice but I never buy it anymore because it's too expensive. I mix my own and buy concentrated flavors. That being said, there are not a lot of flavors I've tried that I truly can't stand for one or two vapes. I have vaped one that I swear tasted like popcorn (it wasn't supposed to), one that tasted like soap, one that tasted like awful.

Its hard to know what flavor it is that you're tasting as it's very hard to describe flavors. Try vaping an unflavored liquid and see if the flavor is still there. The liquid itself does have a taste to it. If that's the flavor you don't like maybe mixing your own is the way to go since you can add more flavoring.

As far as I know nicotine is completely tasteless.

Dry hits from the atomizer are nasty as well and once the wick is burned it tends to always have a burned taste after that.

Also a weak battery or dying/gunked up atomizer will produce weak vapor that won't taste as strong.
