Hello all. So I am "new" to the forums but I am not new to vaping. I was just trying to post in the health section but I can't so I suppose I will post here as I have a few questions. So I've been analog free foooooor I think a year and 2 months or so. I quit after smoking for only 5 years(From 18 to 23). I had quit previously with a Blu then moved to an ego for about a month, all was well then. I went back to smoking a month after, and smoked for about another year. I quit just because I was coughing stuff up, the smell, remembering how I felt when I had quit before. This time I quit with a V2, just went all out. After no longer craving cigs I went on to a mod the uhh iTaste 134. This time of quitting was, and has been, extremely different. As expected when quitting, I expected my lungs to have to recuperate, the withdrawls and whatnot. But here's what's bothering me. While I was smoking, I was working out 2-3 times a week with no breathing issues. When I quit I decided to take a 2 month long break from working out, no big issue, just to give my body time. But over the 2 month break from the gym, I began to feel worse. I gained about 20 pounds in that time(I know that cigs can cause weight loss, but I have never been at this weight, I have always been very in shape as compared to having a gut now). But my biggest issue, is my breathing. I feel short of breath, all the time. I find it hard to catch my breath. The first time I went back to the gym, I did some stretches. I planned on playing basketball for about 40 minutes for some cardio. Now, after about, 2 laps on the court, my chest started to feel like there was a ton of bricks on it. I tried to keep going, I ran the ball to the other side of the court, made a shot, and then my legs started to tingle. As I was walking to the otherside my head started getting very hot, and I started coughing(it felt like there was metal inside my chest, if you've ever had a metallic-y kind of cough). It felt very rough in my lungs, very heavy, and my body literally started telling me to get myself into cold water, everything in my body and mind said "go jump in the shower and blast cold water". That's what I did. I eventually calmed down, but that metallic taste was in my mouth. There was no blood, it wasn't that kind of metal, I literally was imagining that it was from burning metal in my ecig. Now I am all for ecigs, this isn't me bashing on them. I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this. Maybe I need to go to a Doctor though I can't afford it currently. Maybe I just need to quit ecigs. Maybe it's too much nicotine? I do smoke on my mod now(An iTaste MVP with a KangerTech Aerotank Mega)quite a lot. I smoke at 12mg nicotine. I shake my bottles well, I make my own juice with nicotine from High Desert Vapes and some flavors from TPA and people like them(I think one of them is Ellas?). I've tried switching from 50/50 to 100% VG(Though I probably didn't give it enough time). I feel weak, my chest feels heavy all the time. I have troubles catching my breath, stairs are horrible. I was wondering if anyone else has had something similar and has a way to counter this. Though I know I really should get to a doctor. Thanks for reading.

Edit: I should add that I do drink LOTS of water. I go through a jug about every day. When I quit I wanted to quit a lot of things(soda mostly along with fast food). So it's not a dehydration issue.

I tried 100% VG for a couple days, but I went through it fast and didn't feel any different so I just thought eh nevermind. It was maybe 4 days? I know that when I first quit I went 100% VG on everything because I was new at it and thought "I want more visible vapor". So back then I was 100% VG. I'm thinking it could be PG. Whenever I puff 50/50 it feels very heavy.

Hi, and welcome to ECF!

Those are pretty unusual symptoms. I actually lost weight when I started vaping, because I was still getting the nicotine but also the tasty vape cut into my desire to snack.

Putting on the weight might be at least part of the problem (particularly if your clothes haven't kept up).

But it just doesn't sound right at all. I know it can be expensive, but do see a doctor!

I'd get checked out. Electrocardiogram is about $50 at my doctor's office and they can tell enough from that to clear you on most heart issues. It will tell them if you have had even a mild heart attack. A treadmill test is more accurate. They hook you up with the cardio leads and put you on a treadmill and slowly work you up to faster and more elevated levels while monitoring your EKG. Some inject a small amount of dye that shows the veins of the heart in a scan. They can pinpoint most any small problem using the dye based treadmill test.

At least start the process and go see your doctor if it keeps happening. Vaping shouldn't cause that with PG or VG.

there's a lot going on Christopher, but firstly I'd get to a doctor. They have those walk in clinics, I think one of our Urgent Care ones, it's like $130 to walk in, any tests are extra, not sure, you could have walking pneumonia, having a PG reaction, both, who knows?

sorry, the alarming things were heavyness in your chest AND the shower, the making your own juice concerns me, are you SURE you're making it with just 12mg nicotine? using a needle syringe/ml measuring implement? etc?

if a doctor dismisses anything you say and you don't feel that's a right thing, reject the doctor, you can walk out on them, and remember they work for you, you want to get checked out and rule out pneumonia or cardiac involvement.

I have adult onset asthma and your symptoms appear very similar. see a doctor . From experience the longer it goes the worse it gets and you can end up with permanent damage without meds. I have it and it was way prior to vaping. I used smokeless tobacco and had other unfortunate causes. The longer you go without treatment the worse it can be
