    Thank you Danrogers.

Yes, DIY is the way to go. I tried talking to my vape shop about e-juice prices but he wouldn't hear any of it. I figured I was smoking about $100 a month and e-juice was going to cost me close to $300 a month. It was insane.

So I took $100 I would have used for tobacco and dumped it in e-juice supplies and I figure I have around 8,000 ML worth of juice now. At 10ML per day......that's a little over 2 years worth of juice for what I would have spent in 10 days at the vape shop and I get to control every aspect of it from nice level to flavor.

right on brotha... I figured out my supplies one time back when I used to only vape 2ml per day.... I also wind my own coils and make my own wicking as well as mix my own juices... Anyway, back when I was only doing 2ml per day, I calculated in exacting detail what it was costing me for all supplies including the coils wire, juices, and wicking. It came to a grand total of $1.60 per month is all! That is almost non existent in comparison to commie tobacco products. Of course, I vape more and go through more juice now but it is only a couple more dollars/month than when I vaped 2ml per day.

If I recall correctly by my calculations my actual cost to DIY is .4 cents per ML unflavored and that was only buying 1 gallon of VG and a quart of 100MG Nic. I was buying 100ML at the vape shop for $65+ taxes which totaled just over $70 or 70 cents per ML.

I came from a small business background, both parents and in laws all own their own businesses, so I understand there needs to be a profit, but I could not see paying 150 x cost for a consumable so I started to dabble in DIY. I tried talking to local vape shops about lowering their profit percentage to increase their volume and have a wash in over all profits, but none would hear it.

I still buy all of my hardware from my local B&M - even when they are significantly more expensive, because I see it as a 1 time purchase and done. It is also much easier to deal with returns B&M rather than online. Finally mom and pop shops have a soft spot in my heart.

Yeah my figures were quite accurate but then again I was not buying my supplies from the cheapest place either. So my figures would have been even lower had I been purchasing from a different place. Vape on!

Yes. Mine are rather crude. Just something I came up with waiting on the kids to get out of school a couple days ago.

I purchased the VG from TFA for $25 for the gallon. The Nic from RTSVapes and was $40 ish shipped for the quart.

Grand total $65ish + another $30-40 in flavorings from TFA.

I started out vaping 6mg nic and have no problem at all dumping my DIY 6 mg nic to lower the level to 2mg after I purchased better equipment.

The one great thing about DIY is the cost is so reasonable you can AFFORD to mess up. If I buy something at the vape shope for $70 you bet your ... it's getting vaped - it cost to much to dump!!

I hear ya brother... I also get my Nicotine from RTSVapes.... Every so often I will splurge and get my nicotine from Dr. Eliquid which produces probably the highest quality nicotine to be found....but, you will pay about 20 times as much for it as Nicotine found else where. I just get my PG and VG from Essential Depot.

I think I'm about ready to take the DIY plung myself. Without really realizing it (funny how that happens), I've got 420 ml in route somewhere. That's about 2.5 months for me, so I can direct my juice budget toward basic equipment and supplies.

I've spent some time reading various threads on best nic, best sources for VG/PG, best flavors in from each mfg, and it's all too much information. I think I just have ti pick a reputable place, find a recipe or two using flavors form a single company and get started. Otherwise, I'll just keep waffling.

What are you vaping now? Something sweet? Something tobacco flavored?

I used to smoke swisher sweet little cigars (just like cigs but dirt cheap) so when I started vaping I naturally went for a cigarish type flavor. This made DIY simple. I asked my local vape shop to tell me the ingredients in the juice I was buying - RY4 and French pipe, so when I took the DIY plunge that is where I started. RY4 and whatever "pipe tobacco" I could find. TFA has 2 RY4 so I purchased a 4 ounce bottle of each for like $4 each. Personally I like the RY4 double much better, but you should try them both and make your own mind up.

There are a couple great things about DIY. The big one is the cost, the next big one is you are in control of everything from nic level to flavors.

My first batch of DIY I used Walmart VG and to be honest it turned out fine. I use those 6 ounce bottles still to steep big batches in that I know I like.

I find TFA fruit flavorings easily over power and are flat out nasty on their own, but make a wonderful accent to a tobacco flavoring.

Keep it simple with 1 or 2 ingredients to start and see what you like and go from there.

Now that I think about it, I guess I do know where I'd start. Peppermint & black licorice were all I vaped for my first year of vaping. I haven't vaped either recently, but I peppermint would be a nice place to start, and easy enough to mix.

Beyond that, I guess I'll just look for a coffee recipe without too many flavors.

Thanks for prompting me to think. That wasn't so hard to figure out after all.:)

It's fun!! It isn't suppose to be hard!!

Don't be afraid of failure! The great thing about DIY is the cost. If you screw up, dump it who care - it's really only a few pennies or couple bucks at most.

I would have never thought of peppermint or black licorice! That is another great thing about DIY is you can cheaply experiment with flavors. My next flavor order I'll probably pick a small bottle or two of each up and give it a try. I would never buy something like that in the vape shop though!
