Stols001 - I am using an Eleaf 40 watt with a temperature control on it. For a tank I am using a Kanger Tech subtank mini RBA and vaping at .08 ohms.

Kanger subtank mini is what got me to give up that last cig. I have since pif, will always hold a special place in my heart. Have you tried the rba head yet?
Currently using the RBA head now, it works great but find it kind of tricky to get the wicking down properly. I find I use too much or too little and turns into more of a trial and error. Also using 50/50 juice rigth now and normally use 75vg/25pg

Wicking can be a real pain. Thankfully cotton and rayon are cheap. Eventually you'll get the hang of it and will be able to get it right the first time... mostly.

I seem to be getting a lot of spitting and flooding but I think the right amount of wick and adjusting the wattage will help. I was reading that higher VG liquids can use smaller wicks and higher temps than other liquids.
I dont think I will be giving up the subtank for a while, it works amazing when I can get the techniques of building my coils down.

You can generally blame spitback on wicking. Same for flooding (but not always). Downside with wicking tanks is you can lose a lot of juice if you aren't careful. Upside is that wick will go for weeks once it's dialed in.
I have wasted a lot of juice in the past for sure with wicking, I think i got this one down it does not seem to spit which is a good start. Hope it does not flood later or start spitting while I am waiting for the bus later haha.
