They remind me of a gourd. Or is it a squash...

They are called "Calabash," although the vendors were calling them gourds for awhile. I like the pumpkin-ish look, but it also comes in white that looks like a snowman. I have been watching these puppies for about 6 months waiting for someone to carry them that didn't have an outrageous minimum order.

ETA: I have an on-going list of cheap, weirdly shaped mods I would like to collect.

ETAA: And I have been watching the development of the "Bamboos" (there may be more than one design). They are weird, but not weird enough for me. I believe I made this last November:

Not sure if my other post went through, so here I go again :)

Is this an o.k. set up to purchase? It is a K1 Variable Voltage Starter Kit and it is not really expensive. ty

I know somebody who bought one because that was what the guy down the market was selling. Vapour production was pretty disappointing once it was in use and the battery voltage dropped off. I didn't have my multimeter with me, but it's possible that it's not actually able to deliver 4.2 volts except on a freshly charged battery, which means the voltage would start dropping immediately.

An experienced vaper could probably learn the limitations and enjoy using it for it's smaller size and low cost, but I really can't recommend this as an upgrade for a newer vaper.

I'll assume you want to keep costs under control since you are looking at a lower cost device. A much better option if you want a variable device would be the iTaste VV V3:
$24.80 iTaste VV V3.0 Variable Voltage / Wattage 800mAh Rechargeable Battery - w/ USB charging cable at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

This device has many of the features of the larger mods, but in a small form factor and a fixed battery. I suggest you have a look at the specifications and operation of this device here:
iTaste VV V3.0 User Manual - Best Electronic Cigarette | E Cigarette Manufacturer| Innokin

If this seems a bit complicated right now, then you should probably consider a Joyetech Twist or a Vision Spinner. They are very simple in operation and are also low cost devices.

There are also many cheap clones of the twist and spinner, eg
$12.69 EGO-C Twist "1100mAh" Variable Voltage Rechargeable Battery for E-Cigarette - pink / 3.2-4.8V / 930~950mAh actual capacity at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

All of these devices have a 510 thread as well as the ego thread so can take a wide variety of devices such as cartomisers and clearomisers like the Vivi Nova, CE5, Evod and the very popular Protank.

I just received two of the Vision Spinner VV's today as well as 2 Kanger Protank Mini 2's. I chose these because of suggestions from some of the vets here. They just finished charging and I started dialing them in. I played with the protanks for a few hours while the new batteries were charging. There is a huge difference. I had to change my coils once to hit the sweet spot. I like the set-up. Would have to say that it is a good first step if venturing into the VV realm.:vapor:

fabricator4 and others ty for your replies... I am a little afraid to order from Fast Tech because the many bad reviews.. any thoughts on this?

FastTech is quite popular to order from, as long as you don't mind a long delivery time. They even have a customer service department that actually answers questions. This is based on what my friends have told me, I haven't ordered from them. Some of their products are name brands, some are generic; more than anything you have to do some research about what you want to order, since their product listings can be hard to decipher.

Yes. Some people have trouble reading the TV guide. It's also a fact that you are much more likely to hear about the bad experiences, while those that have a good experience don't feel they have to tell everyone about it. The only times I've had trouble with deliveries was because I did not check the details before I finalised the payment.

Fasttech is not the fastest option. Yes the name is a bit of an oxymoron; the free postage is extremely popular but you are not going to get it tomorrow or even in a couple of days. The free postage is however completely trackable and as reliable as any postal service usually is, which means that occasionally a package will get directed wrong. This is not Fasttech's problem however their customer service has been very responsive in these cases. I heard of one package that went missing in the mail sort facility, and one case where a package was sent to the wrong country.

Tips for using Fasttech:

1) Make sure the product is what you expect. There's original brand name product and there's copies. Learn how to tell the difference and read between the lines. If you are not sure open a new thread and ask here.
2) The absolute cheapest version of something is not necessarily the most economical. If you buy a packet of 20 CE4 clearos for $10, you're really going to be surprised if four of them don't work?
3) Double check what is on your order and the delivery details.
4) Check the listed delivery times for your items before you order them. If one has an expected shipping time of 7 days the whole order will be held up waiting for that one item to come from the manufacturer.
5) If you have a problem raise a support ticket immediately. You will normally get a response within 24 hours.
6) When you get your shipping confirmation there will be a photograph of your package. Conversely, if there is something missing or broken Fasttech would like a photograph of the complete package contents. Refusing or being unable to do this will harm your claim.
7) If you have a problem, be polite. Getting upset and doing the email equivalent of a screaming fit will probably get you ignored.
8) If you have to send something back to Fasttech because it is faulty you will have to pay the freight. I've heard of cases where people have been credited the cost of the return freight if it's Fasttech's error, but warranty returns are your responsibility not Fasttech's so it would be wrong to expect it in all cases. If this is an issue for you, consider if you should be dealing with a local company.

I am in the same boat as you are OP. On my freedom smokes they have another one that is called an X6. It does not have as many changes to the voltage as the K1 but it is the same price 30.95 for the starter kit. All the reviews for it on their site are good. People seem to like it and I am considering one myself. I dont have the money for a provari and doubt i will any time soon. I am thinking about giving this a try. Will be ordering it this week. If you want i can let you know how it goes.

hey op i have vaped an x6, twist, and now own a k1 i like them all and there a really good deal but as alot of people have said they dont do anything like the more expensive mods but with a nova tank they all produce good vapor and great taste plus the novas are cheap (price wise) and are easily rebuilt. for a less the $50 dollar setup the twist ego and a 2.0 nova with an ego adapter is a really good deal along with the ability to find the sweet spot of vapor heat and flavor
