So, I finally bought a Reo on the classifieds here. Got a great deal, but it had a collapsed spring. I ordered a new spring from Reomods, and for good measure a rebuild kit, an additional spring (didnt know what caused the collapsed spring in the first place) and a couple of extra bottles. Both packages showed up today.

I replaced the spring, loaded up a bottle, screwed on an atty, and fired. Nothing. I take it apart, and see that the firing pin is completely flat. I watched every Reo video i could find, and using the rebuild kit, replaced everything: the firing pin, center pin, bottle, tube...everything. Loaded it up, fired, and.....BLISS.

The Reo worked perfectly for 6 hours or so, and then just stopped. Thought it was pretty quick, but having never used a mechanical mod before, just thought the battery was dead. Changed the battery...nothing. Checked the spring...perfect. Changed the atty, tried another atty, tried a carto...still nothing.

I took the reo apart again, gave it a bath, filed and noalaxed the contact, reassembled and.........nothing.

I am out of ideas. Any suggestions for a Reo n00b?

i am not 100% sure the atty is making contact with the center pin, but i took the black piece off and tried pushing the pin up from the bottom, I also tried pulling the center pin up like i have done in the past with my zmax. Tried multiple attys again and nothing. Is there another way to check/adjust it?

I do not have a multimeter, but both attys, and the carto are 2.0 ohms.

Just Noaloxed the spring plate, which i had not thought of, and still nothing

If it's not the atty/510 contact, the only other thing I can think of is (well aside from your button being in the locked position) . . .. is, when you did your rebuild, you may have overtightened the 510+post / nipple connection (where you capture the back end of the firing pin). I've done that before. It's quite easy to partially shear the threaded part of the 510+post and have it come apart after some time (I've done this myself). You would only know if you carefully screwed it apart again and had a look.

Does it have a delrin button top? If it does that might have moved down on the button and made it stop reaching the firing contact. Look inside at the contact when you push the button. It should move down below the delrin cover just a little.

Pull up on the button top and see if it moves up.

To me it sounds like the previous owner might have used flat top batteries, or just been a button masher. With the AW IMR button tops you do not have to mash the button hard to fire. Just a slight pressure will move the button enough.

We have a winner! thank you so much.

Derlin button stays off until my button top batteries arrive.

My Reo is still working great. It also came with a RBA, which will be my next project...expect some questions soon...

I just wanted to say thank you, and that it is great to be in Reoville. I got more responses, and received more likes in 12 hours than my entire time here on ECF. I think I have found my home here on the forums.
