I have been searching this site to find out which ecig is rated as a good one. I have heard about the Vapor King and the 510. They seem to be good choices. I want to buy a good one with a lot of vapor. I have been smoking Benson & Hedges for the past 22 years and would like and ecig and juice with an equivalent kick. I was one of the fools that bought into the Smoke Assassin scheme, I was just wanting to lose the cigarettes! I did receive the ecig and tried it. It was kinda cool but had no kick and not much vapor. It did do one thing, it opened my eyes to the wonderful world of vaping. Even if it is a low end product. I really want to quit cigarettes and need help selecting a good ecig.

Please Help!

E-cigs are not a 'magic bullet' to smoking cessation, nor do they taste very much like analog cigarettes.

To get started, score a DSE901 or Joye510 starter kit. Use it, make mental notes of what you like and do not like about your devices and use that information to find a new device when you are ready to make that decision. I quit on an 801/penstyle device, but easily could have quit smoking with the 901 or 510. Don't stress this situation. Just get started; you will buy more devices if you find the e-cig helps you to reach your goal.

Pour over this forum. There is a wealth of information. Ask yourself what it is that you want out of an ecig. Go to the video review section of the forum so that you can see different devices being used. Determine the products that will meet your wants and needs. Buy the product from one of the many reputable suppliers on this forum.

I use the joye510. It has worked well out of the box.

I'm grateful for this forum. It's the reason that I found the right product for me without having to buy four or five other devices before settling on one.

I would follow BC;s advice... you are safe with the 901 or 510...510 being really popular..... get a basic kit.... maybe one bottle of a basic flavored liquid (since you can refill the carts) maybe a pk or 2 of carts.

Test the waters. once you know what you like/don't like come back and search for that question...someone most likely has asked it already... if you can't find the answer don't hesitate to ask again....

you will find something that works for you.

Hi Luigi,

It can be really overwhelming at first but as others have said you're going to be buying different models over time until you find the right fit for you so just jump in with one of the more popular models (with links to their kit pages):

901 (haven't tried this one)
510 (got my kit from cignot.com for $35)
m401 (i get mine from litecigusa.net)
KR808D-1 (vapor4life.com, vaporkings.com, cigeasy.com, litecigusa.net)

Also check out the Supporting Suppliers forums to see who is getting the best feedback and maybe ask some model specific questions there.

And at the risk of overloading you even more :)...in case you haven't seen it there's a very good intro to vaping post that explains the most popular brands and their pros and cons here:

Make a list of what you want in your e-cig then start checking out the different models and see what the high points of each are. My list was: ease of use, throat hit, flavor, vapor, economical.

I went with the KR808D-1 and am very pleased with the product and the supplier I choose. I haven't tried the others so I will not comment on them.

Vaping is an exciting adventure, so enjoy it!

I just took my first vapes early this AM, and I happily endorse the KR808d-1 mentioned in the previous post... unlike the most of the other models, the KR808d-1 is a 2-piece unit instead of a 3-piece... all you have to do is screw the cartomizer (combo atomizer and cartridge) onto the battery and vape... it's very easy, and definitely the best choice for folks who just want to replace a filthy, dirty habit with one that's much safer...

OTOH, if you want to get into all the dripping, dipping, mixing and such... then a 3-piece may be better for you... I am personally NOT looking to acquire a new hobby, so I went with a KR808d-1 starter kit from Vapor Kings, and added one Personal Charging Case and 2 5-packs of extra juice... it all ran around 90 usd and I think it's a great model to start with...

Peace/Pieces,

Yeah, that's how I approached my first purchase. Someone should write a sticky guide called "Choosing a PV: So you want..."

  • ease of use - (list models, reasons why, critiques, links to suppliers)
  • throat hit-
  • something that looks like a cigarette -
  • something good for dipping, dripping -

...you get the idea. It's covered in this section of daboomvape's post here but it's a bit buried under a lot of other info. Maybe something like that could live in the Ask the Experts section they're planning.
