Hi all,

My V2 KR808D-1 has died

It does nothing but flash three times everytime I attempt to draw. I have tried blowing down each end 4 and 5 times (as I have read to do somewhere) but it doesn't seem to help. Although I don't know how long each blow should be, nor the delay between blows, but have tried several different of each.

It isn't discharged, it was working fine half hour before this happened shortly after a full recharge. I've only had it for just over a month, used daily for moderate use.

Does anyone have any tips/tricks that I may try in order to bring it back to life?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

EDIT: It also refuses to charge any further - light does NOT blink three times as it should when put onto a charger, and charger light remains green as though nothing has been connected.

I have emailed the company I purchased from but it is now out-of-hours so will need to wait until tomorrow earliest for a response. While V2 offer a lifetime warranty, I have checked with the company's website and see no mention of such a warranty.

So far I have been impressed with their customer service: 2 of a 5 pack of V2 Menthol cartos were DOA. They immediately sent out a fresh 5-pack plus a pre-paid envelope for me to return the faulty ones. BUT, I think as I have gone over 30 days (only just - typically) since purchasing the battery, then i'm not likely to get a replacement.

Here is where I bought from (pretty much the only company in the UK to sell V2 cigs):

V2 Cigs UK - Buy V2 Electronic Cigarettes

UPDATE: Just had a phonecall from my V2 supplier. They are mailing out a fresh battery today along with a prepaid envelope for me to return the faulty one. Can't ask for more than that!
:rickroll:

Also had a Riva 901 battery turn up today from Liberty Flights and i'm very impressed. Has air-holes so standard KR808D-1 carts work without issue... got some LR Boge 808 cartos which i've tried on there and they are also very good.

Three flashes on most batteries indicate a shorted cartomizer. Does it do this without a cartomizer installed?

If you screw the carto on too tight, the center connection gets pushed up into the outer ring. When you install it, the outer ring touches the inner contact on the battery and shorts it. The fix is to use a paper clip with a tiny bend on the end. Insert in in the hole and pull up gently until the inner contact is slightly above the outer contact. Alternate sides back and forth as you go. Install and screw it down just enough to make contact. Don't force it.

I believe three flashes on this model is safety cut-out mode, for whatever reason.

Does it with and without cartos... already investigated and tried the centre pole fix to no avail... not that i'm fussed anymore cos a new one is on it's way (which I didn't think would happen) and my Riva 901 was delivered this morning!

Thanks for your suggestion though, always appreciated! :)

I think they charge more because of the lifetime warranty. Vendors of KR808D-1 batteries in the UK are VERY hard to come by (as I found out when I asked about it in another post). So, I got a DSE 901 auto battery with KR808 thread-adapter, a USB DSE manual 901 pass-through and a Riva 901 which rocks (The Riva actually has KD808D-1 threading anyway so didn't need the adapter for it). I actually like the Kanger cartos that V2 supply, especially their Red flavour. They work really well on my Riva 901 and i'll get at least a week out of each one if I don't fry them. Quite cheap when 40+ are bought at once.

V2 (well, a UK V2 vendor) sent me out another battery anyway so I think i'm well covered the next time I have battery issues. I was lucky that I had a freebie disposable (Electric Zebra - they were giving away samplers) in the house that kept me going until the next morning when my Riva arrived - kept me away from the analogues. ;)

I agree with Blitztech. V2 were my introduction to vaping and I paid alot for their product. Within 4 months all my batts were dead and their customer service was so shoddy I went back to analogs for a few months.

I ordered a Halo G6 and have not had any problems since.

I'm happy you were able to recieve satisfaction for your problem Buxton.

Yeah, V2 were my intro to the vaping world too. I now rarely use my V2 (just a back-up now) as I have a Riva 901 for using the 808D-1 stuff with, plus 2 x 510 eGo batteries, a ViVi Nova V2 (expecting a Vision Ego Replaceable today too) and have ordered an eGo-C Twist which I expect will arrive tomorrow. I have also rebuilt my Nova heads several times with wick and wire with great success so I doubt I will use my V2 again.

We live and learn!

Found this topic searching for info on my KR808-D1 set batteries which came with my V2 ultimate starterkit I ordered from this V2 retailer too as my 1st set.

When I charge a battery, the usb led first turns red and the LED on the battery blinks red 3 times and later the USB plug blinks red and blue to end up blue when fully charged.
Now I wonder, sometimes I see the USB plug being blue while the LED of the battery blinks red a few times, sometimes causing the USB plug to switch from blue back to red again...

Can anybody explain what that means ?
It looks like the battery is fully charged but if I don't take it out immediately I notice this blinking again.
Is it measuring its power or such ? Like the portable charging case does when you attach a battery to it ?

Just wondering if this is normal or maybe an abnormal functioning.

Sofar I have a good experience with this retailer... 1 battery was broken at arrival and a new one is in the mail right away after an e-mail that was replied to within 24 hrs.
I just forgot to ask about this blinking while charging so I thought to ask it here

wait is this lifetime warranty (if you buy every 90 days) on a site from the US?? It sounds great!? Where is this?? Also, I was going to ask if you tried pressing the firing button 5 times rapidly? Some batteries have the turn off mode and you can turn that on by rapidly pressing the firing button 5 times fast without noticing yourself doing it? I'm not too familiar with 808D V2's but I know some batteries do, do this. My smoktech eGo does for instance. You could give it a try? Sorry I can't help further.
