I have an eGo 510 and have been mainly dripping instead of filling carts. I have been using the empty cart that came with it as a mouthpiece. Last week, one of my attys just stopped working... was vaping fine one minute, then unable to hit off it. So I started using the other atty I got with my kit. Yesterday, I had my pv in my pocket... seemed to work fine but at the end of the day I noticed the end of the empty cart was melted and when I took it apart it looks like there is black stuff melted all over the atty. this one is not working now either... and not sure I want to use it with the funky gunk all over it...
I have read that rubbing alchohol will dissolve the gunk off your atty. It pours just fine thru the one with melted black stuff on it (although not taking the black stuff off) but just drips slowly thru the other one. My guess is the second one just has large amt of buildup that needs to be cleaned off and my first question is what is the best way to get it back to working? So far i have poured bunches and bunches of rubbing alchohol thru it, sometimes alternating with very hot tap water. I did soak briefly in alchohol although too nervous about melting the glue or whatever else might be inside. Now am soaking in very hot tap water.. what else can I do??
Would also like to know what to do about the one with the black stuff (probably melted plastic from the empty cart) all over it? Is there a way to get that stuff off? Do I even want to try? I am guessing it is not safe to use this atty anymore but if there is something I can do to make it ok again I would really like to know.
I thought having two attys was enough- how silly of me! Will of course be ordering more but until then i don't have any way to vape... was at 4 days without stinkies and really really don't wanna go back!! Please help! Sorry for the long post but I just don't know what to do!! Thanks!

You can try white vinegar - soak it for a bit, then rinse warm water through it, shake it out, blow it out, prime the atty with a few drops and puff (don't inhale) until it stops tasting like the steam you breathe in when you're in the shower.

Are you using automatic or manual batteries? It sounds like your backup atomizer got pocket fired. I always take my battery/atomizer apart if i'm carrying it in my pocket for this exact reason.

Depending on where you live, if you're desperate 7-11 many stores carry the NJoy Npro Duo startup kit ($20 incl battery 2 prefilled cartomizers + usb charger) - you could pick one up while you wait for new parts for your eGo. I use the npro duo as my backup for my reo mini or eGo for this exact reason - I can quickly replace it if something goes wrong.

Good luck!

Something else you can try to get you by would be removing the bridge in your atty. You'll have to direct drip, but that is my favorite method and gives great tasting hits. Get a pair of hemo's or tweezors and try and remove the microphone looking thing in your atty. Just go slow, and be careful. Let us know what happens.

And get those replacement parts on order!!

PS Don't be forceful when pulling parts out of your atty. The bridge itself is very soft and come out easily. If you grab a hold of something that is hard to pull, examine what it is first. If you pull the wrong part out, it's junked.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck! I also drip and use an empty cart for a mouthpiece. Unfortunately, you've learned a hard lesson on why that cart needs to be kept in a certain position at all times. You've probably also learned to take your atomizer off when you put the PV in your pocket. As for the first atty you mentioned, it may just have died. Sometimes attys last for months, sometimes they kick the bucket in a matter of days. That's the nature of the beast. If that one was still under some sort of warranty, then you should contact the vendor for a replacement.

As for the second one, I'm not sure if you can get the melted plastic off of the bridge or not. If you're trying to soak it off, make sure you're using 91% Isopropyl Alcohol. I'm not sure that will work, though. You might be able to remove the bridge and still use it. If you look on YouTube you'll be able to find tutorials for removing the bridge from your atomizer. Be warned that this can render your atomizer completely useless and void any warranty you might have for it.

Lastly, and I think you've learned this the hard way, always, ALWAYS, have back-up atomizers on hand. I always make it a point to have at least two extras, if not more.

If you can't clean out your atomizers, and if you're desperate enough and don't mind driving about three to four hours round trip, you could drive to my house, and I can give you some brand new 510 Boge soft cap cartomizers to hold you over until you can order and receive more atomizers and/or cartomizers. I live about 12 miles south of Lansing, off I-69. Send me a private message, if you're interested.

I also have four cheap, brand new Volcano atomizers that I'll never use, but they are just atomizers without any cover on them, and the cartridges slip over the atomizers. I have lots of cartridges and polyfil and blue foam filters that I'll never use.

Hi,
I used a blank cart the first few days and could never figure out which way to slide it on- have it the same way the silver bridge goes or the other way? Plus I'm older and can't see things up close clearly:)

So I tailpiped it and didn't use a cart. Put my mouth onto the atty to vape. Then I got a drip tip and that's working great but I take off the tip to drip each time and put it back on to vape. With the drip tips- there's no wrong way or right way to put them on- they are circular just like the atty is.

Someone posted a pic of how a 510 cart should go onto the atty for me a few days ago. I WAS putting it on wrong the first few days because I was lining the cart up with the silver bridge- not the white ceramic rectangle. I'm very lucky I didn't break it! Here's a link to how it should go on:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussion/132844-cartridge-question.html

But get a drip tip! You can put them on any old way and they can't hurt the bridge or melt onto the coil!

Lori

P.S. I ordered some more attys last week from Bluegrassvapor. They were $6 a piece and had free shipping in the US.

So far i haven't been able to get the non- melted atty to work. I guess i will be sending that one back as it should still be under warranty (thanks Womanofheart, i didn't even realize). Havent' tried taking the bridge off the other one yet but will try that later today, i think. Also, realizing i still have my luci and might be able to either use that system or tweak it somehow so that it will work on my ego parts is something else i can do (will have a peek in the mods forum) until i get my new attys. Guess I just panicked (blush). thanks everyone for the tips and advice!!

Sorry to offend, was certainly not trying to be rude. I do appreciate the offers from both of you, just had to consider what I wanted to do first before getting back to you. I apologise for any confusion. I guess I was just hoping someone could tell me how to magically make them ok again without having to borrow or buy more.... silly me.

No offense taken. I understand, and it's okay. :)

Good luck!

An update: the atty from my Luci does fit on the battery of my eGo so am using that for now. It doesn't hit very well but shoudl hold me thru til my new ones come in hopefully. I tried removing the bridge thingy from the other atty (the one with melted gunk all over it) and it still doesn't work... but the melted gunk pretty much got everywhere anyway so vaping with that sounded kinda skeevy anyway. Figured it would be better to mess with that one though since the other one is still under warranty. does anyone know what other attys (besides the njoy and the luci) would fit on my battery by any chance? Ideally something I might be able to find at a local smoke shop... thanks!

Any attys with 510 threads will work with eGo batteries. I know the Volcano attys will work, but I doubt that any local smoke shop that has Volcano kits would sell an atty separately. The Volcano attys have no cover around them, just the atty and a cartridge, so drip tips won't work with them. I wouldn't recommend any Volcano products.

I know some local smoke shops sell Smoke 51. The only thing I know about Smoke 51 is they're way overpriced, cheap quality junk.

My opinion is any e-cig products you can find at local smoke shops or truck stops are junk.

Lol, that's what i have been gathering on here... that anything you might find at a smoke shop is just not a good product usually. Well, new attys ordered so hopefully they'll get here soon... Thanks everyone for your help!

Hey! I have a worthless piece of crap Volcano l88b starter kit with a PCC that you can have. I'll tell you my address, if you want to come and get it. It worked part of the time for not quite two weeks. Now, the batteries last about 10 minutes before needing to be recharged. :)

I really believe that the smoke shop store owner sold me two of his display batteries and a display PCC.
