I really want to buy an e-cigarette but I'm really struggling with which one to choose. Some are really cheap, some are really expensive. I've heard that some of them (the cheaper ones) aren't good for you at all.

I keep googling reviews on e-cigs but end up giving up because there are so many with conflicting reviews. I just want one that tastes as close to a cigarette as possible and is good value for money.

Any recommendations as I just can't seem to decide! I'm in the UK. Thanks.

I would suggest something like the ego c. I started with cig-a-likes because I didnt know where to start they went terrible in that they were easy to use but constantly dead batteries bad flavor and expensive dud cartos made me give up. Although if you have never tried an ecig you could get a disposable cigalike to try it out.

I went with an ego c next with 2 1000mah batteries and some decent juice . Aside from some leaks (user error) I learned about pv's in more detail. It was a good restart it is easy to use not to big and has been reliable. Took a while but finally aml off analogs after about three months.

As a reward I have an itaste vtr and some recommended gear that should come in the mail. I think I'm ready for a mod now but glad I didn't start that way. My ego will be on standby for when the new pv is to big to carry around.

I will say my experience is none will ever taste like a analog. I tried all kinds of tobacco flavors and they didnt do it for me. What has are the sweet flavors and even though it can damage some devices I really liked the hot cinnamon flavors.

Hope that helps just my experience.

I agree. Start with an ego style with a tank. Find a descent ejuice and you're set. If you have a Vape store near you I'd suggest going there so you can taste test some juices. There's a lot of awesome juices, but there's a lot of nasty tasting ones too that can almost turn someone away from vaping. Once you taste a great juice you won't turn back.

I don't advise anyone to start with a cigalike. I started there and wasted a lot of money. I wish someone would have pointed me toward an ego when I first started.

You seem to be serious about quitting analogues, i suggest a Variable Voltage 1000mAh-1300mAh Ego style battery (you might find some kits offering this type of batter) Excellent starting point that can still be relevant in a years time. Get your self a decent tank, maybe a protank2/3 mini. Or iclear 30s ..etc

The ejuice is very subjective so you 'll just have to try a few and make up your mind. Generally speaking the tobacco flavours areen't the best. but definitely do give them a try. but get your self a few other choices..

You'll soon discover vaping is soo much more pleasurable than analogues and surpasses the overall analogue experience. I actually feel ive rediscovered nicotine - in a good healthier way. Smoked red for 10 years almost

A great place to learn all about Vaping/reviews/builds ..etc is youtube.. search for any item you are interested in.

good luck and happy vaping

I would check out some of the You Tube reviews. They are nifty for reviewing the positives and negatives of the brands. Just be sure you are able to obtain the brands being reviewed if you are in the UK. Unless you go with a cig a like you are also going to want to choose juices too and want to check out reviews of those. If you also want something that *feels* like a regular cig you might want to try disposables, at least at first. I don't know if they are available in the UK, but White Cloud makes disposables that have a huge array of flavors called the flings and mini flings. The flings have a soft tip and the minis are the same size as an Analog. Some people start off wanting something that tastes as much like a regular cig as possible but then decide that pretty much nothing tastes quite like that and they head for fruity or sweet or some other specific flavor. So definitly try many flavors, you may be surprised at what appeals to you. Personally, I like many different flavors but mint is my mainstay, and it has to be slightly sweetened mint for me to enjoy it to the fullest.

When I was wanting to quit I ordered e-liquid in tobacco flavor because I thought it seemed sensible to try to replicate a real cigarette as much as possible. WRONG. (for me)

I hated that flavor soooo much. There may be some really good tobacco e-liquids out there but I don't care to try them when there are a million other good flavor types.

I think it's wise advice you got here. Skip the disposable types you see I don't think I've seen anyone say they helped. I tried them and they didn't work.

Also, start slow, buy an eGo or something of that type to get your feet wet. Accept that some of the stuff you buy you will prolly hate. It's kind of a rite of passage I think =)

I've only been at this 2 weeks and thanks to these forums I have a HUGE list of things I want to buy but I'm trying REALLY hard to pace myself. Go crazy (within reason) at places like Mt Baker Vapor or ECBlends where you can get small bottles of liquid and let that be your splurge till you know what you want for sure.

Most of all, congrats on your decision to vape! If you're like the rest of us it's gonna be a fun ride =))

Oh wow, I think I have a lot to learn about these. I just want to cut down on cigarettes before actually stopping. With summer coming, I know I'll struggle so my aim is to have given up by October time.

I've only ever tried one once and it was on a stall as I was passing. I actually had a real cigarette in my hand at the time so that may not have helped to give me a good idea of how good it actually was but all I know was that I was absolutely amazed with how like the real thing they were. Think I will have to do some research into the juices. My thoughts was just to go with a tobacco/nicotine flavoured one to try and mimic the real thing.

I've ordered a sample from Clearsmoke as it's free, you just pay £4.95 for the p&p so I think I'll see what that's like and to get familiar with it then I will definitely give eGo a go. Thanks for your advice. I'll head over to youtube as well to check out reviews :)

Hi Susan,

I wish I had seen this earlier. Whatever you have ordered, take the "free" e-cig, and get out of there.

Trials are notoriously risky, so I'm hoping it's just a straight pay the P&P and get a trial item. If you have done any more than than, please let me know.

There are lots of products on the market, many of them are overpriced and quite useless. The "biggest" selling e-cig in the UK (measured by money made...£Millions) is also the most expensive and one of the least effective at delivering nicotine.

I hope you come back. :)

Yeah wish I'd read the T&Cs first because it's a trial for 15 days, then you have to pay £60 if you don't want it. I'm going to give them a call tomorrow and try and cancel. If I can't cancel, then I'll do the trial and send it back. Damn me not reading those T&Cs. I never do!

Speak to your bank. Do not hesitate. There must be a legal requirement under the Distance Selling Regulations act. (UK government 2000)

For example.

For goods purchased online, by mail order, over the phone -

Your right to cancel starts the moment you place your order and doesn’t end until seven working days from the day after you receive your goods

You must stop these companies, threaten them with whatever it takes. Also tell your bank what has happened and you will report them if they do not cancel this company's right to withdraw money from your bank account.

If you ask on AAEC - UK, you might find there are friendly people with more experience who can help.

Please keep us informed.

Dave.

    Welcome :)

I too read a lot of reviews when I switched, it's almost maddening. I started with an eCom. It's ok but now I wish I had started with a MVP and two Nautilus tanks. It's easy to use, compatible with other stuff and all around the best experience you can get except rolling the coils yourself. And then it gets complicated :D

About the prices, think about it as if you where in prison: Convert the currency into packs of cigarettes. E.g. If you pay 50 bucks, that's a week worth of cigarettes. I'm at 2,5 months worth of cigarettes now. I started vaping last week.

I agree that Ego is the way to go. If you get a vv Ego like the twist, you can dial down the voltage to make a lighter vape if you suspect you may be more comfortable with a cigalike style amount of vapor. The important thing is to have the option of feeding it more power if you feel like a heavier vape. Ego batteries are a good solid middle ground between the powerful vapor of a mod and the light vapor of a cigalike. And even if you decide you want a mod, you can still use your Ego as backup or just for when you're on the go.

As for flavors, I'm going to have to disagree with dinner other advice here and say tobacco flavors are the way to go when your just starting to quit. I was lucky enough to find a good flavor when I started and I really think it helped me transition easier because it helped with the flavor cravings. Plus it's going to take a little while for your taste buds to wake up so that you can really taste other flavors. Personally I've found the best replicas of analogue flavor have came from the Chinese companies like Dekang and Hangsen. Dekang in particular has a wide variety of dupes for different cigarette brands. And by golly, their Camel flavor actually comes pretty darn close to tasting like a Camel. :D

When you're ready to stay experimenting with different flavors, I highly recommend starting out with at least one from each category: sweet, sour, spicy, fruity, and menthol. I've noticed with myself and other vapers that you usually tend to have one or more categories you naturally gravitate the most towards and others you generally can't stand. Like I tend to gravitate towards fruit and sour the most, and can't stand menthol or sweet dessert type flavors. If you get a good idea of what direction you prefer the most, it makes picking future flavors to try a LOT easier.

Lies.. coiling is not complicated ;) rocket science is complicated.. coiling is not ;)

As for the MVP.. wish they had that one in starter kits section of most webshops and not in the advanced section ;)

Lots of good vape units out there...
but my question is why do you want one that tastes like a ciggie?? Most people have a tendancy to get away from the tobacco taste and prefer other flavors....
there are several vendors that offer taste-a-likes but they never actually mimic the flavor of a ciggie.
as far as offering an opinion on what to get, we need to know what your preferences are as far as usage time ( heavy smoker? lite smoker?)
size preference, are you into fiddling around with things? ( rebuildables) or you are more apt to just plug-n-play...

Ok should have been more clear: Coiling isn't complicated. Choosing a rebuildable atomizer / RBA / RTA / RDA bottom dual coil tank, then finding a shop and finding what kind of clone you can afford to buy is maddening!

I started seriously vaping about a month ago. Before that I was off and on with the cigalikes. But, they just never seemed to work for me. none of them tasted like a cigarette. None of them felt like a cigarette. Even the one that were heralded for having the most accurate cigarette flavor.

It wasn't until I got my ego twist that vaping became a true option for quiting. Also, it took me only a few day of vaping to move away from tobacco flavored juices.

It isn't about the flavor of the cigarette, its about what it does to your body. Once you try a cigarette after a few days of vaping you'll question how you every thought it tasted good. It truly taste nasty, yet you want to do it anyway. Think about how much better it would be to get that same nicotine but from something that tastes good, mmmm like cheesecake! or my favorite peach! Imagine eating a peach satified your nicotine craving!

I'm new to this forum, so I'm not sure how everyone here feels about WTA e juice, but that is what I use and it got me off cigarettes. If regular ejuice works for you, like it has for so many others, than use it. But, if you are like me and the regular stuff just wasn't cutting it, look into WTA e juice. It's more expensive, so that alone turns most people away.

Give yourself awhile with regular e juice though, a few weeks, maybe a month. Scores of people quit with regular e juice. This forum is a testament to that.

Happu vaping. You can do it!
