Which is closest e-cig to the real thing?

I may give some of those £1 ones a go. Me and my husband have both now decided we're not too keen on the tobacco flavour we have. I definitely want to give menthol a go and maybe some others. I guess it's just going to take time to adjust from cigarettes. I'm still smoking and have set myself a date to stop in a couple of weeks. Hopefully this will give me enough time. Just need to find the right flavour and the willpower.

Finding the right flavor is just as important as finding the right gear. If you don't like the flavor, you won't use it.

Understand, as others have been saying, that you probably won't find a flavor which "tastes like a cigarette". The sooner you come to grips with that, and find a fruit, candy, desert, coffee, or other flavor that you like, the better off you will be.

vaping is not entirely like smoking. It has some similar components and behavior shared with smoking, but it is an entirely different phenomenon.

If you feel like trying Menthol, I wouldn't recommend the LiQuid range.
One Menthol liquid that used to be popular was this

PREMIUM - Menthol Sensation 18mg.

$7.12 Hangsen E-liquid for Electronic Cigarettes (50ml) - menthol sensation flavor / 18mg/ml nicotine at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

I vaped a lot of this when 2 months in I lost my tastebuds for a while.

I really need to give up smoking but am struggling! I tried the Clear Smoke e-cig last year. It ended up only costing me a fiver but I really, really dislike the taste so stopped using it after a while. I have tried my friend's who has a VIP one and, while I did much prefer the vaping sensation on this compared to the Clear Smoke, the tobacco flavour she has, to me, didn't taste even remotely similar. Her friend - who has been using e-cigs for a while now - said that she didn't have it on the right setting or something. I have no idea because I'm new to this.

I just want a recommendation for a good e-cigarette that tastes as close as you can get to the real thing? Thanks!
Hi Susan.
Close to a cigarette? I searched far and wide for the closest thing I could find to a true cigarette experience. I finally found NEWhere tobacco. Vape it at a good higher voltage and it'll be prettty darn close.

That said, eventually, you'll not care for it. Sniff the bottle now and then and vape something else you wind up liking better (it'll happen).

No vape will be exactly like a cigarette. At first, that sucks, but then you realize it shouldn't be - it is a better experience.

Check out the psychology of quitting thread for additional tips if you're struggling. Quitting is a two pronged approach.

Good luck!

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to go to Bluewater. I think they have a shop there that sells them and possible some stalls. I just remember one time walking out of London Bridge Station and they had a stall there selling them. This was absolutely years ago, probably around 2011. I remember the man asking if I'd like to try it and I was absolutely amazed at how much like a cigarette it tasted... but then I did also have the real thing in my other hand at the time so perhaps this was why.

I'll give some a try hopefully and then decide what I like best. I'm just not keen on the fruity flavoured ones because they make me feel a bit sick.
Yep, Fruity flavors don't cut it for me either, Susan. The cig a likes are limited in what they can do for you. This conclusion is your minds way of telling you there is a path forward for you. So do what I did - go to a vape shop and talk to the guy running it. He'll help you discover the world of vaping and open doors for you.

Just tell him you like tobacco vapes.

Keep moving forward and dont look back. :)

My advice,

Think back to the very first time you had a cig. Did it taste good? Did it make you feel good?
My first did not taste good, I did not even manage to finish it. I felt sick and stubbed it out when I was less than half way through it.

Stupidly I carried on smoking, gradually I learned to smoke without feeling sick, eventually I actually grew to like the taste. 25 years later and thousands and thousands of pounds later and I was still smoking....

I now think that I grew to like the taste because it meant a relief from the nicotine craving.

A great many people find it difficult to quit, its part nicotine addiction, part habit. We have also been repeatedly told for decades that it is difficult to quit.

NRT can relieve the physical addiction to nicotine, but it does not cover the habit or psychological addictions. Partially because the nicotine is taken into your body much much slower with a patch, also because you are no longer doing something with your hands, I found this especially difficult at times when I would normally have a cig.

A decent e-cig can give you the relief from the nicotine craving, and give you something to do with your hands that mimics smoking much more closely. Initially higher nicotine levels help a lot to make sure you kill off that pesky nicotine craving quickly.

Most smokers stick to one brand, often the brand that they first started on, anything else tastes odd.

I doubt that you will find a flavour that tastes the same as your favourite brand.

Surely its got to be easier to switch to a flavour, one that you actually like the taste of, rather than one that you had to learn to like the taste of?

If you can find a good bricks and mortar shop, rather than an online shop, they will usually let you try different flavours until you find one or two that you like. If they won't let you sample the flavours find another shop!

It's not true that you can't find e-liquids that taste like the real thing (tobacco), those that say that probably haven't tried natural tobacco extracts (NETs), or whole tobacco alkaloids (WTA). The tobacco "flavored" juices like RY4 are what do not taste like real tobacco, I tried many and while some were ok, none came very close to the real thing. I prefer natural tobacco extracts, they are derived from real tobacco and have good flavor and satisfy just as well but without the tar of cigarettes, and are the prime reason I was finally able to quit smoking. My favorite NETs are from:
www.Naturally-Extracted-Tobacco.com, e-liquids for electronic cigarettes
I highly recommend the Sun Cured Turkish and Organic Tobacco for starters. I believe the proprieter (Clay) ships to the UK, you can email him and ask. There are also suppliers of natural tobacco extracts in the UK, but I have not tried them, you can google and find them, perhaps folks from the UK can give you recommendations. NET's have tobacco flavor, but not the paper burning taste, just good real tobacco, and to me its better than cigarettes ever were.
These days I tend to vape unflavored nic base, 18 to 24 mg, from Nude Nicotine. To me this tastes more like a mild flavored cigarette than fruit and sweet flavored juices, and its cheap. Sometimes I add a little NET to it. I don't care much for flavored juices other than an occasional custard, or add a light flavoring. As you get off cigarettes you will want to try flavors, etc, and find what works for you - many who get used to vaping flavors prefer those. For starter tanks and mods, I recommend the nautilus mini, triton 2, or kabuki tanks, and the istick 30W or istick TC40W are good inexpensive regulated mods (with batteries built in). Hope this helps, and good luck!

Thanks for this. Although I'm not sure I can get liquids shipped in from outside the UK can I? I thought there were all regulations and what not on that. I know every time I send a parcel off from the post office, they ask me if it contains any liquids, batteries, etc, etc, etc. I'll look into this. I definitely want to try some menthol juices and I might just get a few others to experiment with. My husband has done really well today. He's only had a few cigarettes and hasn't smoked since 10am this morning which is unusual for him. The thing with me is I set a date to give up the real cigarettes (which I've set at next Thursday) so am aiming to kick the habit by then. In the meantime, I'm hoping to be won over by vaping!

I did enjoy my first cigarette, in fact it was probably the best one I'd ever had but I'd had a good few wines at that point. I was quite a late starter with the smoking.

I'm going to look into getting some different flavours. I don't think from reading on here there's any point chasing the cigarette taste that I'm probably never going to find. So I'm going to try something different as this tobacco one I have at the moment is a bit sickly.

As things stand you can import e juice in any strength up to 72mg / ml, don't vape this though as its way to strong. You have to dilute with VG or PG before you use it.

But in May new rules are coming in that will restrict the strength to 20mg / ml and you will only be able to buy it in 10ml bottles. There are other rules governing labelling and testing and some hardware restrictions too. It's not clear at the moment how this will effect the industry in the UK and the rest of Europe.

There is some more information here:- EU Legislation

I thought all liquids needed to be put through a few hoops.

The cost (for 'notification') is going to be £220 per liquid. £880 for a flavor available in 3,6,12,18 mg

20 flavors, £15,000. I think we can safely say many small business e-liquid firms will stop selling.

That's kind of what I meant by "labelling and testing" A lot of the small business's are going to go down the pan.

I DIY my own juice and have done for the last 3 years it costs a lot less, but The OP is just starting out and they probably have enough to deal with. They need to have some idea about what they like and if they are going to stick with vapeing before they go down the DIY route
