If you're venturing into RDAs your first purchase should be a digital multi-meter. They are simple to use and necessary for measuring your coil resistances and your battery voltages (before and after you charge them) Safety first.

Now down to particulars, a good RDA to try would be an Igo-W, you can build them single or dual coil, and they are usually well less than $20.

For batteries, look for the IMR, AW and Panasonic get good reviews, and get high drain, high amperage (20 amp rating is nice). The batteries are not where you want to go cheap on, a top quality battery should last over a year and perform better. A higher amperage rating means you can use it in your current mod, and most any other you might purchase in the next year. (be realistic, you will get another before the year is out...)

ahhh thank you stosh!! so relived just one last question? my mod would be okay with supporting a rda??

Yes, it will. Because your regulated mod has a 2.5 amp limit and protective circuitry built into the chip, you'll need to keep your coil resistance above 1.2 ohms. (above 1.2 ohms for a single coil or above two 2.4 ohms for dual coils.)

Here's the supplies and tools you'll need for rebuilding coils, along with some online calculators for ohms law and coil wraps.

A quick note on the battery. For this mod you do not need a high amp battery. Even with losses in the board you will not go over 5 amps. The question you have to ask yourself is What will I get next? If you do not plan on getting anything else most any battery will do. If you plan on a mechanical down the road think about a battery that will work in both.

So, for the x gun vv mod, would it matter if it's a flat top or button top battery?
I'm looking at the AW IMR 18650 3.7v 2000mAh from RTD Vapor.
Unless the manufacturer specifies either a button-top or flat-top battery, it doesn't matter which one you use.

The AW IMR 18650 2000mah battery is a great general purpose battery. Smart of you to buy it from RTD Vapor as they are an authorized dealer of AW batteries and you will have no risk of getting a counterfeit battery.

The authentic mutation x is about $30, it's very easy to build on.

My favorite RDA though is my veritas clone. I love the flavor and the fact that it rarely leaks. Mines a tobeco clone and the top cap is very tight and I often struggle getting it on and off. That's my personal experience with that one, no idea if they're all like that.
