Help : Coil Building For Beginners

Hi Everyone

I recently got a Manhattan Mech Mod with a Mutation X v2 and i would like to know if there are any easy coils for me to try and make. I have been vaping for about a year now and i just want to get into building my own coils. My local vape shop does build coils but I want to try it out. So if anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it.

Thanks:)

Welcome to ECF!

I would suggest starting with a single coil, once you get that down, then move to dual coils. The mutation x v2 has AFC for single coil right? I think a single micro coil is a great starting point, and you can tweak it from there. My standard micro is 8-10 wraps around a 1/16" drill bit, placed as close to(and in line with) your air flow. What gauge wire do you have?

Where you least expect it....
Welcome to ECF!

Perhaps after you have gained the required 5 posts. You might want to create a thread in the Rebuildable Atomizer Systems sub-forum:

Rebuildable Atomizer Systems

Also, you might want to familiarize yourself with battery safety and ohm's law. They are paramount when you are attempting to use RBA's for the first time.

A micro coil is wrapped on a 5/64 drill bit...1/16 would be a nano coil and would need to be dragon wrapped...youtube video will show you how to dragon wrap a coil. I do agree with the micro coil then wicked with what ever you are wicking with. Use the steam-engine.org website to figure out how many wraps you need to get the the resistance you are looking to hit.

What wire do you have?

Hey new to the mod world of vaping, I have the Nemesis Omega Clone, It's a dual coil and I'm having a lot of trouble with the coils. I got the guy at my local vape shop to help me build the first coil but it was a pain in the ....! It took us 45 min to do so. He said its because my atomizer is very cramped which makes it hard to put the coil through the holes. Would you recommend getting a different atomizer until I have more experience or does anyone know of any helpful videos on youtube as i could not find any specifically for my atomizer. O and i'm using 26 amg kanthal a1 wire
Thanks! Blaise

Actually, from the guy here on ECF who arguably created the "micro coil" 5/64" would be a mini/macro coil.

1/16" can easily have a wick through it, not dragon wrapped, I've been doing it for over a year now.

The omega has that super high well wall, which does make it difficult to work with. I'd suggest starting with longer legs so you can put them through the post holes then pull your coil into place, though you'll have a hard time keeping it on your jig while you're mounting it.

Can you really get enough cotton or wicking material through a nano to make it work?...I never could, I would just end up burning the wicking.

What wattage do you vape at?

Well, it's not a nano... but yes, running 16-22w(I use mechs) wicked with japanese cotton, the wicking definitely keeps up. If I were to go 0.5 or below, I would probably move up in diameter a little, to 3/32

Here is where I learned it from: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/coil-builds/416271-micro-coils-increase-vapor-flavor-th.html
