Maybe I should rephrase that...as we know Chinese QC is iffy at best. In the past day and a half I've tried 5 tank cartomizers. Of the 5...only ONE is working correctly and isn't tasting burned right out of the pack! What is up with that? I got these from My Vapor Store (no slam on them, they didn't manufacture the things) and they had good reviews, but so far I'm less that impressed. Apparently they are made by Smoktech....came in a smok box. Normally I would have thought that would be a good brand. Anyway...I'd love to find some good single coil, one or two hole punched tank cartomizers for a standard 3.5 or 6ml. DCT tank. Can anyone suggest a vendor who's stock still has some good ones? I like 2ohm best.

If single coil is too much to ask...I'll settle for dual coil. Help!

Not trying to say you did anything wrong, but the only time I've had burnt taste from a carto/tank is when I didn't get the carto fully filled. I have used both Smoktech and Boge and my preference is Boge. Boge recently started selling punched xl cartos if you can find them. The Boges are harder to get filled unless you use a syringe. JMHO

Someone call me?

Here's a very recent discovery on my part. I'm a avid fan of DCTs (Dual Coil Tanks). I've been using self-punched 1.5Ω SmokTec DCs. A while back I ordered some 2Ωers. Well, I finally got down to 'em and... blah (POS)!

Ordered some more 1.5ers and am now again a happy camper. Single coils have never provided me with the vape I prefer.

Gotta luv the endless personal preferences for hardware and jooses...

I never had a problem with smoktech until this last batch I ordered in a 15 carto deal thingie. Half of em taste burnt and the other half leaks incessantly.

I'm not keen on trying boge since I'm not keen on turkey bacon flavor. I have no idea if bogegate has been resolved or not. BUT i have supplies incoming to start recoiling my vivi nova heads so I may not need to worry about cartos as much. They're more or less reserved for flavors I like but don't want to vape all day; my ADVs go into my tanks.

I have been using these for a couple of month now and I really like them. Single Coil XL Tank Cartomizer for the SmokTank XL

I don't know who the manufacturer is, as they come to me individually wrapped in clear plastic wrap, not in a box. But the online vendor is Smoktek, not Smoktech (note spelling). These are offered in a variety of resistances and the option of either one or two laser-drilled holes.

I personally get some with both one and two holes; using the single holes for the usual 50/50 pg/vg ratio juices, and the two holes for any juices that have higher than 60% vg.

I use the 2.0 ohm on my 3.7v Silver Bullet and BB. I use the 3.0 ohm on the Provari. $2 a piece; progressively cheaper discounts if you order 6, 11, or 16. I've never had any DOA's or issues with flooding or burnt taste with these; I have had some of the dual coils from here get a burnt taste, which instigated my trial of their single coils. Your results may vary.

I tend to prefer a cooler vape, so I've never liked dual coils (which also are not kind to battery life) or low resistance cartos.

_______

I've always heard good comments about the Ikenvape cartomizers, especially the Fusion (801 threaded ?) and Platinum (510). They have been out of stock for weeks, but I got a tip today that they are back in stock, and ordered some "Punched" Platinums to try out at last.

The "Punched" have 2 larger laser-drilled holes for cartotank readiness. Prices start at $1.85 each. ECF5 discount code for 5% off. These may sell out fast as it seems they may have issues keeping them in stock.

Ikenvape. But you have to check often and buy in bulk when they have them in...they sell out quick. I use the Golds and Platinums for tanks, the Diamond have a wrapper that is a pain to get off. A simple saddle valve will punch them.

Just placed an order...they finally have some back in stock including the punched versions if you prefer those.

Remember with tank cartos you have to treat them like any other carto to keep from burning them. After putting them into your tank first fill the carto then fill the tank.

Thanks for the replies! First, to address the above quoted issue...I always fill the cartos with a syringe before filling the tank. That wasn't the issue.

I don't like dual coils because I don't like a "warm vape". I vape menthol...and menthol is supposed to be COOL! lol! At any rate...I'm not a big fan of them. They seem to be harder on the battery life and burn juice faster. IMHO. But...I have used them and still use them when I don't have my preferred single coil. I'm just not real happy about it when I do.

Pretty much the same issue occurs with the LR (below 2ohm). I tend to get more of a harsh taste and it totally messes up my carefully crafted DIY menthol juice. I don't find it pleasant. 2ohm is "just right" for me. I have pretty much stopped using variable voltage and am happiest with 3.4 to 3.7 volts (eGo T Mod, 3.7 Gripper and Telescope mod). My preferred watts is minimum 5 watts and max 7 watts...with my preferred range at 5.8 watts to 6.8 watts. I can use 1.7ohm, but that's about as low as I find does justice to my juice...and it's not my favorite. I haven't tried 1.8ohm yet.

I'll check out some of the links here. Been doing this vaping thing over a year and know what "works" for me. Won't be what a lot of people like (I get so frustrated by the proliferation of vast quantities of dual coils nowadays) but I've been on a long journey and tried just about everything out there. I finally know what makes me happy and makes my vaping life the best for me! Sadly...I don't get my check until Nov.3rd, so the Ikenvape ones will probably be sold out before I can order. But I'll bookmark the site and maybe get lucky one of these days! :)

And what's the difference between gold, platinums, and diamonds?

I got to admit other than the color of there connectors I really can't tell a difference...lol...they all vape great. I just get whatever they have in stock. As I said tho the Diamond does have a silver wrapper on it...pita to get off and then get the adhesive cleaned off for use in a tank.

Regarding their atty's however I have to say their IO6 does outperform every other 306 I have tried when it comes to vapor production and clean flavor.

I have been researching this same topic as much as the OP has i'm sure. I've spent a decent amount of money lately to try everyone's suggestions since the best way to find out what is best for you is to try it YOURSELF.

I have a couple of smoktech SR's and LR's that I had been using punched by myself, and honestly they have a harsh TH which is rather dry (and the 2 holes are slightly bigger than what the single pre-punch was). I just bought a set of 5 boge SR xl's from Valley Vapes (punched and tested) got them in today, filled & primed, and I must say it's the best vape yet. I use them on my ego twist, and I have tried the CE4+ and CE5 clearos too, but so far since this morning, I am loving the boges. The only downside is what others have mentioned in my research, you need to make sure you have a cone to keep the tanks from sliding down on the boges since there is no flange. I wish I had more time with them than just 1 day, but I don't. Though they are the best first impression from anything I have tried to date.

If it's any help to you, the way I test is by taking a juice that I like and try it in all my set-ups to see which one is better and a little more consistent, instead of using different juices. That way you can really get a good review. So far my vape is best in the boges, but everyone has their own opinions. Hope my rambling helps! lol

I've been satisfied with every cartomizer I've used so far. Boge single, smoktech single and double, ikenvape 801 fusion and 510 platinum. I usually punch my own and it seems like each one likes it a little different. I've never had a dud or even one stop firing, but it seems like my ikenvapes have lasted longer with the same clean taste.

Since getting my hands on a 4amp capable Zmax, I have really appreciated the ST dual coils SR and LR. They really come alive when ran appropriately.
