Had my ehpro kayfun 3.1 for about a month now. Was working fine until today when I started getting burnt hits which I have never experienced before with this device. Been using 28g kanthal microcoils at 1.5 ohms on a VV/VW device.
I take it apart today and it looks like the kayfun is coming apart. You can see in the photos a clear plastic looking piece has emerged underneath one of the posts. Is this kayfun toast? How could this have happened?

As Talyon said, it's an insulator. I have the same Kayfun, and I experienced this exactly last night when mine was disassembled.
With the base taken off, line up the post/insulator.
When you re-tighten the screw in the 510 connection, hold the post in place as you tighten it.

Yep I can see just fine, and have had one of these apart. It's not toast just needs a new wick, the post that sits on this insulator should not wiggle, if it does it needs tightening by removing bottom 510 thread section, there's several good utube posts on this. Check them out there great for digging deep.

Maybe I simply haven't noticed before, but I don't ever remember the insulator being visible. I guess I may not have noticed it before. Is this what it is supposed to look like? In the first images I posted?

As far as tightening, I'm not sure how this is done?
I'm not familiar with the terminology, please forgive me. Are the pieces circled in this photo the posts?

If those are the posts neither of them are wiggling/loose.

When you mention removing the bottom 510 thread section, do you mean like this? And what is this screw thats visible in this pic? If you could link a youtube video that would be great.

Yeah that screw connects the positive 510 screw to the positive terminal block...not the Philips screw but the big post with the slot in the center.

You may have melted your insulator. Loosen that screw all the way and take the block off and see if that plastic insulator looks melted. The block should rest right on it and not look "sunken into it"

relocated the post inline with insulator before screwing back together. make sure you hold this in place, so the post doesn't twist while tightening the bottom screw (first image)
I hope this helps ya

I did what you described and loosened the bottom screw/510 connector but the posts do not move when I try and adjust them. Do the screws on top of each post need to be loosened in order for the post to be adjusted?

and what is this screw in this image?
