An 801 is a penstyle and 901 is a mini. Meaning the 801 is bigger than the 901 both in atomizer and in battery. A fully assembled mini is around 4.5 inches long and a penstyle (my M201) is about 6 inches long. I don't have an 801 to tell you more than that. See the pictures here

If you prefer a smaller (analog size) PV than it would be the 901.
I use 2-3 auto batteries during a 10 hour work day with a 901. But I vape constantly at work. Changing & charging batteries aren't a problem there either. I have an M201 penstyle and I will still have to change the battery once at work usually sometime just before I leave.
I use less juice in the 901 than the M201 and for me the flavor is better on the 901.
