Hey everyone, got my new eVic on Wednesday and was pretty excited. I connected it to my computer last night to update the firmware. (Have windows 7). I downloaded mvc 1.2. Installed. It found my device and told me I needed to update. Said ok. The progress bar completed but then an error message popped up on the CPU. (I wish I had taken a screen shot, but I didn't). After this my eVic went dark. I unplugged it. Plugged it back in nothing. Tried tapping button 5 times. Nothing. Tried plugging into normal wall charger. Nothing. No matter what I do I get no response from the eVic.

I searched around here and didn't seem anyone to have the same issue. Anyone heard of this?

Also, does anyone know how to force reboot or restart the software on the eVic? (I am fairly technically savvy and would have no problem pushing new software to the device). I just can't get it to recognize anything!

Any advice, tips or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm pretty bummed my brand new toy doesn't work. Especially because I only have one old ego left functioning.

Sorry, forgot to mention tried removing the head from the body. Also removing the battery.

I have not checked if the head is included in the recall. I will when i get home. Is this a common thing in the recalled units?

Every problem you could possibly experience usually happens with the recalled heads, but that's just what I've heard. If yours is among the recalled, you'll want to contact the vendor you purchased it from.

Not true. Recall is for the unit not firing after using a menu - they got hung on exit.

Basically a software or computer error bricked the eVic much like has happened to some cell phones while updating from PC.

See if this will help:
eVic Factory reset code

ETA - Plug the eVic into your PC watching the lower right of the screen. Does the PC recognize USB activity?
If yes, RIGHT CLICK MVR and start as administrator.
Does MVR see the eVic?
if yes - ReRun update

That is what the recall was issued for, but not the only issue with the recalled units.
Simply stating reason for recall. We cannot specifically blame the recall for one off issues on given devices as We have no confirmation from joyetech. I prefer not to include speculation as fact.

evic has malware issues...

Thanks for the help.:glare:
Malware on a device which as yet has not had the code de-compiled.
