What flavors are you working with. Without knowing the flavors it's hard to help you. It's pretty normal for TFA flavors to fade while steeping. A good example is the Black honey tobacco. It's awful the first 2 to 3 weeks and no amount of hot water or UC steeping is going to help that. But the flavor mellows into something wonderful after 4 weeks.

there is also the legend of the vape mouth- I get this frequently, if I vape a juice for more than 2 days the flavor fades until I can not taste it any longer.

so what I do is vape a flavor for a day or so, once the fade occurs I switch flavors- and repeat process, eventually you make it back to the flavor you could not taste, and like magic you can taste it again

I've noticed something like this too. By the bottom of the clearo it seems to loose some flavor sometimes. I suspect the 'flavor' wicks quicker and gets used up faster. If that's true, then either it's not mixed properly and I need to shake more before filling (and it's not DIY btw) or it really is something to do with the wicking and type of flavor.

awesome info again. I am primarily working with Tobacco, Carmel, Nuts, BLACK HONEY as stated below, coffee, Vanilla, The list goes on. But also we make fruity flavors (dont seem to fade as much). I know not much help. I am simply amazed at how flavor dissipates.

I guess maybe im trying to imitate some recipes that might not be all that good to begin with, and adjusting to my liking. Again i will be mixing it up a lot this weekend.

The mixing calculators recipes don't seem to include these tidbits, but im guessing it is put in there.

tobaccos, caramels, vanilla, black honey, coffees, creams all fade during there steeping period. I would say steeping is your biggest problem. You need to let these steep 2 - 4 weeks and they will fade after there steeped. Hot water steeping only can do so much. Steeping with an ultrasonic cleaner for 4 or 5 hours produces far better results. After there steeped you need to adjust them by adding more flavor and unfortunitly let them steep again. The good news is what you add the second and third times wont need to steep as long. Maybe 3 more days. Why you ask. There is a phnominum called the seed steeping effect. After a juice is fully steeped the chemical reaction of newly added flavors speed up and steep in a shorter amount of time. Keep track of how much flavoring you use to get it right and that is what you use next time you create the mix. Keeping track of all this by writing everything down is very important. And as mentioned working with only VG will require more flavor then pg/vg mixes.

Okay all this leads to my next question. When you buy liquid is it assumed then that the bases are completed (Steeped) then flavors added? They always say Born on date?

I know they are pro's but seems like that isn't whats happening.

I would then assume i must come up with a good Tobacco base and let it steep before actually making my goodies?

May bee someone with a known good recipe with VG and any TFA flavorings ( I have 85% of them ) and about 30 of Capella's flavors should post here. I know there are a lot on this forum but not many replies to them.

I have searched these threads looking for a recipe and have yet to come across one that has more than 1 response to it. (This forum is big)

In other words just because it's posted doesn't necessarily mean it should be duplicated.

The lemon juice and apple cider seem to be holding the flavor as well as getting juices to the coil seems quicker (All good Things). Made 4 this weekend, plenty for the week. Feeling good about this DIY. My current Mixes are acceptable but need more records and tests. In any case they are better than a lot of the juices i taste and purchased and that's gooooooooooood. Although there are a few i will always purchase (I think) lol.

If i ever get one that just blows me away i will share, and if you have one please bring it out.

Thanks all for the help

Another thing i found on here, just passing along my findings for others.

1- Put Nic Juice in bottle
2-Lemon or cider next with or without sweetener depending on tobacco or fruity vape
3-Then flavoring
4- Mixed above well
5-then added VG
6-And of course mixed again

Don't know if that also made a difference or not but seemed to.
