3w that's awfully low. Your carto is probably toast. Some cartos are bad to start with. You do need to let them set and saturate or you will burn em.

An over saturated coil can cause a harsh throat hit too. Try to clear the carto by blowing it out into a paper towel. Any juice? Turn up to 8 watts.. Does it taste burnt?

What battery device were you using before the Vamo?

The Vamo uses a cheap 33.3 hz PWM (pulse width modulation) chip commonly referred to as the "rattlesnake effect". In fact, most of the Chinese-made mods use this chip. Some people find this lower frequency to cause a harsher or hotter vape requiring a drop in voltage/wattage, especially if you prefer a cooler vape.

The iTaste VV3 & MVP, Provari, and the DNA mods use a much higher PWM (800 hz or thereabouts) PWM chip which will show up as a flat line on an oscelloscope, and better filtering methods. PBusardo shows this in his reviews of mods when comparing the different mods. Not everyone notices the difference in PWM, many do; some may even prefer the 33.3 hz chip. I prefer the higher PWM of the Provari and MVP. This allows for a cooler, smoother vape, IMHO.

You are using the correct resistance cartomizer; nothing to change there. You are priming your cartos the same as before. The only change in your vape routine is the Vamo itself and there likely lies the problem.

I am on the rms setting
I used an ego and an itaste vv before the vamo but they all broke within a month. That why I got the vamo cause I heard they last long and a provari is out I my price range

Well, the iTaste VV uses the better PWM chip like the MVP and Provari. It will produce a better vape than a Vamo.

Wonder where you heard that the Vamo lasts a long time? Historically its connector threading and control buttons fail within a relatively short time. I understand being on a budget, but the Vamo is a very inexpensive mod and you get what you pay for. You wouldn't expect Honda quality & performance from a Chevy Volt.

You said 3 watts right? Try going to voltage and different soaked carto, vape it at 3.8-4.0 to start then 4.2 - 4.5 volts it should vape ok in that range. Could be a problem with the wattage setting in your device.

But, it could be something else. Did you change your juice at all.
No everything was the same only change was the vamo it is still harsh in volts. I am leaning towards it being the vamo and how it works just wish I could return for that reason

I don't expect the same quality from a cheaper mod but I didn't think it would be this bad. I figured I could get a descent vape without spending well over 100 on a mod. I have yet to find this even with the I taste or MVP and all were disappointing.
It is just frustrating that I can't find a descent vape feel like giving up trying doesn't seem worth the hassle

Wow .. Well there are a lot of people using them. I'm Only trying to help.. There has to be a way for you to make it work for you.. You may just need to change some of the other variables to match up with the vamo better.. What brand carto?

Oh wait, wait a minute.... how is the draw compared to your other devices??? If its tighter that could be your issue. A tight draw will be harsher.. . I'm leaning towards this problem.. There are ways to loosen the draw up.. To test unscrew the carto as far as you possibly can and still get contact to fire.. You should notice a much looser draw.. Now how is that??

I despise a tight draw..

Sounds like bad carto's to me.
I've never had any luck with smok carto's, funky harsh taste is how I'd describe them.
Trying a different brand carto would certainly be the least expensive way to find out if that is the problem. I'd still stick with the higher ohm 3.0 range resistance. Going lower would result in the same harsh vape you are now experiencing if you prefer a cooler vape. Getting a bad batch of cartos from almost any vendor is always a possibility.
