Define dying? Do you have a meter, or that son of yours? The resistance could be changing, if it's increasing that's why some will work on 5V that aren't doing well at 3.7. If it's a LR watch that the resistance isn't dropping, it goes much below 1.5 ohms and it could start frying batts. As long as the resistance is close to where is should be a couple dry burns may bring it back to new. Just hot water flushes followed by dry burns. I always stress with electronics though this is my experience only. boB

question is, are they really dead, or just passed out from exhaustion and having ate too much resulting in being too full?

if u know what a multi-meter is (not a type of mod - sorry couldn't resist the joke) check the contacts of the atty, if it gives u a result that's not astronomical and wouldn't make sense for something so small then all is not lost.

1) first try blowing it out REALLY REALLY REALLY good general method is out the back or threaded side (less distance to travel i guess...lol) then see if that at least helps

if it helps but only barely or doesn't then try
2) fill the smallest pot u have up to about what would come up to half the atty w/ water, place it on an appropriate burner, place the atties in the water thread side up, then boil the daylights out of them (it will send junk up through the threads) after they're nice and clean take them out and let them drain thread side up after about an hr test 1 to see if u can quickly get it to work (don't press long as if fully clean will glow orange almost immediately), if that does it then add a couple drops unflavored PG or VG to re-prime it and u'r good to go.

if not:

3) get a HV device and crank it up to maximum (btw this is also the kill or cure method) and see if that gets it to work and try burning the gunk buildup on there by bringing it to orange, letting it cool, bring it to orange, etc etc etc. afterwards if it's worked and gets orange quickly then rinse it out w/ water (water through the thread end ) re-prime and put it back on it's origional device and it should work well again

those are my methods anyway and they seem to work for me - YMMV

just b careful when u check them and LOOK down them (from a distance) i've actually gotten them so clean w/ that method that they didn't hiss or anything, just turned orange until i primed them but it's what i came up w/ and i typically did/do it when some1 gives me a bunch of atties at 1ce that are "dead"

oh i've been busy lamenting it's loss, but privately since i didn't want to open the wounds of chippy, but chippy's cousin that u saw in the pic of that penlight mod i made finally bit it about a week ago put it up to the MMAR (i'm too poor for MMDR currently...lol) and she was flatlined.

can light vapor and light flavor be a sign of a burnt atty? Or is it always because they are dirty. I ask this because I cleaned (5) 2 week old attys after alternating them with mostly sweet flavors. I read to clean them every two weeks in 70%iso. Dried them in front of a fan over night. The next day I put 3 drops and did not know they needed priming. Horrible burnt taste, and even after putting a couple more drops. did not realize they were still dry and not primed enough. Did this with all 5 thinking that 6-8 drops would flood it and ruin my brand new ego batts.

Now, none of those 510 attys are the same. all with light vapor and flavor, and some of those 5 with a slightly burnt flavor.

My orig ego attys were awesome, never letting them dry out, and loving it, until today when I was with a customer and the button got stuck on in my pocket, and vape started coming out of my slacks! LOL. Now this one is the same frickin way and I now have 1 working atty. I am thinking I need to boil them.
