I built it with a USB first and it wouldn't vape at all, even tried on a 2.1 amp usb 2.0 charger from the wall. I checked the connections with a LED and saw that there was voltage (I have no multimeter right now) Then I scraped the USB because I was reading online that it only put out .5 amps, and I went with a PSP charger that was 5v and 2000ma and I tried my dual coil tank thats only 1.8ohm (I know that was stupid now) the tank vaped good for maybe 3 pulls then died. All my other carts are around 2ohm and none of them will produce any vap at all.

i have made a couple of these . use the red wire for positive and the black for negative. i use standard cartomizers and a 1 amp plug in the wall ac to usb adapter . i know people on here say you need two amp but this is not true i always use 1 amp with no problem and i have tried 1.5 amp and it was frying the juice. 2 amp is too much.

Standard cartos usually means ~3Ω. Assuming a bit of loss (parasitic) reistance with a 1 amp adapter that comes out to about ~2.9 actual vaping volts @ ~3W. Most folks would want more.

This thread might help for passthrough ideas:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/battery-mods/245763-passthrough-idea.html

Passthroughs operated from a computer usb port are not viable, unless you're going for a passthrough battery. A battery plus a suitable usb charger in a small box would probably work, as long as the charger circuit works as it should. I don't personally like the idea of vaping with a battery while it's on a charger, though. I don't trust the safety of the circuits that much.

You need a wall wart or something else that can handle more amperage. Got a spare computer power supply? The 5v rail may have enough power.

5v 2000ma should be fine shouldn't it for vaping. I just put my genesis that I use on a 3.7 battery mod and it would do nothing on the passthrough. I used a couple LEDs on the passthrough at the atomizer end and they glow nice and bright, but nothing from my atomizer?

You should be able to comfortably run a 3 ohm coil on that (2.5 ohms would be 2 amps, maxing it out.)

It would appear that something is wrong with your setup. You really should get a multimeter, as was suggested. You can't check for proper polarity or voltage very easily with LEDs. Not to mention knowing how many amps that you'll be running by checking the coil resistance.

Off-hand, it sounds like you just aren't getting good contact between the atty connector and the center pin on passthrough connector, or that you blew the coil. It's hard to guess, not knowing what you've gotten into with this.

IMG_0031-001.jpgjust looking at a computer ps I am reading the amps available on this spare I got it is 16 amps on the 5v rail !!
on utube there is plenty of vids on how to hack computer ps.you can cheaply and simply build one.or go a step further and build a desk top supply with many uses. for safty I limited mine to 10 a with circuit breakers. I also put a vv board and meters in mine.
to feed the home build passthrough I used a heavy duty rca cable and plug.
