Passthrough Help

Hi folks, I'll start by saying I've only been vaping for 28 days and I am electronically challenged. I've been reading the forums and I don't know a omh from a 5v to a Ma, well you get the idea.

I have a Green Smoke (yep I found this forum after I bought it so I know I paid way to much for it and not may compatible parts--live & learn) passthrough and on the website it says:

"The USB Electric Cigarette works only on voltages of 2000mA or higher, such as a PC. It will not work while connected to a USB or home charger, or with a Mac."

I've been reading and searching this forum like crazy and I see where some folks use portable chargers or wall chargers to power their passthrough and not having any problems with it at all. All kinds of different types, wattages, amps, etc. are mentioned.

Can someone please give me a brand that will work with what I've got. I use the heck out of my passthrough and I've read some horrer stories on this forum about how it's not a good idea to constantly run it through the USB on my computer. Thanks in advance, appreciate ya!

My passthroughs only require 1000mah. I would think that would be alright for yours too. I picked mine up at radioshack. Just ask the salesperson for a cigarette lighter to usb connector. Then tell them you need it to be 5v and 1000mah. Don't get the dual usb connector, because it only does 500 per connector. Hope that helps.

No problem. Have you tried an iphone charger? They work too. At least on mine. If it doesn't, I paid 10.00 for my usb passthrough at vaporflow.com. Good luck Norry!

I just posted something about passthroughs as well but.. you just said this wont work with a Mac? cause i only have one PC that is a desktop that i never really use everything else is a mac... So ur saying a V4L passthrough wont work on a mac? iam gonna be upset cause i just bought one and will only get half of the use out of it if i can only use it in the car.

I haven't tried any chargers yet. I guess the WARNING statement on the GS website scared me enough not to want to attempt it on anything except the usb on my computer. After reading the forums though I figure that it's ok to use either a car or electric outlet usb device as long as the amps, etc. are correct.

I'm traveling the U.S. in our 5th wheel right now and we'll be in Indy on Tuesday. I got a line on another thread about a vape brick & morter store in Indianapolis. They sell both the wall & car to usb chargers. So I'll be making a trip to their store. It'll be a great chance for me to ask all my noob questions in person as well. I was actually searching the forums for a good reference on a place to buy online when I ran across the site.

I don't have a V4L passthrough, Mine is from Green Smoke . The place in my post where I said it wouldn't work with a MAC was a direct quote off of the Green Smoke website where I purchased mine. Of course it also said I couldn't use an external usb power source either.

also if ur greensmoke is a kr808 you should check out vapor 4 life as well they have great customer service and i am new so my opinioion doenst really count but many vapers swear by them

For the car DealExtreme: $2.63 1000mA Car Cigarette Powered USB Adapter/Charger (DC 12V/24V) This shows only 1 amp but I have used it for months with no problems.

thanks for that post searcher i will definetly come back here for that info when i am ready to order those... i am gonna try the car usb adapter i have first... I dont even know where i got it from but it has a gamestop sticker on it likes its for somekind of game or something idk ....but if that doesnt work i know where to go and i still need a home chager so i will be ordering that...

prophetr1, I do have an 808 battery but it's a D-2 not a D-1. There are only a couple of places besides GS (LeCig, Red Dragon) where I can find compatible parts and/or cartomizer's.

I have dabbled with refilling the used GS cartos with some RY4 (yep broke down and paid too much for it in the mall but I wanted to try it and was waiting on my order from tasty vapor) and it seems to work really well. I don't know yet how often I'll be able to refill each of them but we'll see.
