"Speedi-
First off I want to thank you because I had spent about 6 hours on this site tryign to determine what e-cig to get my wife for Mom's day and I came across your post where you mentioned the SS Elite you ordered. Since it seemed like you had gone through the same steps as I had but were farther along I went with the flow, rolled the dice and placed the same order as you. So far so good, as you said delivery was fast and everything seemed to be in order at a good deal."

LandtoSea, I am so glad to hear that maybe I actually helped someone at this forum! I've received so much help, and I had hoped that once I knew more about what I was talking about, that I might actually be able to repay the favor someday. So I'm glad you/your wife are happy with the SS Elite!

"So, I don't think the bad taste you are experiencing has anything to do with primer etc.?"

I think you're right. I decided to "break in" my extra atty today, dreading it because I was sure it would have that horrible taste, but to my surprise, it doesn't. I think I've gotten used to it. I still wouldn't say I like the taste, like you do, but I can tolerate it. Still looking forward to my flavored juices arriving. ;)

"Although we are motivated to change we sometimes are not totally comitted and subconsciously look for ways to sabotage our own efforts."

You're totally right. I've done it before, every time I've tried to quit. Now I keep reminding myself that there is a learning curve with these things and an adjustment period to something new. I know that I most definitely resist change so I've decided to take the great advice I've gotten from everybody here. This time I'm going to take it slow, only smoke an analog when I absolutely HAVE to have one, not be too hard on myself when I do smoke one, and remember that every one I DO manage to avoid is a step in the right direction. So far today I've avoided about 12 over the course of the day compared to what I normally would have smoked.

I've also started a list of all the suggestions everyone has given as to their favorite flavors and their descriptions of them so I can try some of them. Somebody (sorry don't know how to go back in the post while I'm typing a reply to find out who it was) mentioned one with champagne and strawberries and chocolate maybe? Now, that's what I'm talkin' about!! :hubba:

I'm with Happy Hips on not thinking I could vape real sweet tastes all day, but I think somelight light and maybe citrus-y (someone mentioned pear - sounds good!) might be a nice change to the heavier tastes. And I will definitely try that RY4. I'm guessing that's a tobacco flavor?

Landto Sea, Does your wife's SS Elite produce a lot of vapor? Like I said, I started my new atty today, attached a fully charged battery, and added a fresh cart, and I am really having to drag hard on this to get the slightest bit of vapor. When I checked the cart and poked around in there with a paperclip, there seems to be plenty of fluid (it is a new cart) so I can't figure out why the vapor production is so low. I can hear what sounds like air being drawn through, but I don't hear any bubbling from the atty. Sometimes the atty gets slightly warm but not every time. The first atty was the same. Gives me a headache drawing so hard to get so little vapor.

Like HH said, when you're new, you don't know if something isn't working properly or if that's just the way it should be.

I knew that it wasn't going to be a direct replacement for a real smoke. After all, were talking about smoking compared to vaper. I did however believe from much of what I've read that it would be a similar taste and all I had to do was think of it as a different brand of cigarettes and I'd be okay.

I was WROOOOONG!!! See, my problem is I'm a menthol smoker. Unfortunately, it would seem that most of the so called menthol juices are missing one critical ingredient. CIGARETTE! The kit I bought let me choose the flavor or cartridge I wanted so I chose menthol of course. What I got was vaproized dinner mints. Nothing like the menthol cigarette taste I was looking for. I was so discusted. If my wife hadn't had her heart so set on this working and me getting of analogues I would have gave up right then and there!

I sent off a bunch of email and made a few phone calls and found, much to my dismay that most of the "menthol" juices totally lack the cigarette part of the taste and only taste like mint. That to me is like eating spegitti without the pasta. YUK!

More research revealed a select couple of juices that had the hint of smoke I was looking for. There on order. I've also ordered a couple of Marlboro juices that I'll add some mint chrystals to. Between them, I should be able to come up with something that I can enjoy.

This evening, I also went a little hog wild at NuVape and got a bunch of their 3 ml test bottles for $1.99. My mom came up with a orange chocolate ball a while back. I never would have thought that orange would work with chocolate, but it did, so amoung the many flavors I ordered was chocolate and orange. I added a few extra bottles and a syrenge to my order so I can play around with a number of different mixes. Rum & Coke, Coffee & Vinalla, chocolate & mint, and what ever other combinations that strike my fancy at the time.

Like I said, I went hog wild with my order, and I plan on doing the same playing with different blends of flavors. I've got a new toy and I'm gonna enjoy it. The more I do that, the fewer analogues I use. That's a win for me. With so many flavor combinations to play with, I'm bound to find something that I can enjoy along the way if I don't kill my taste buds first.

Grumpster, I'm with you. I'm trying so many different flavors I'm on overload! I got the Starter Kit from JC with 10 flavors in it, and before that arrived, I ordered samples from Nuvape as well. Still waiting on those to get here.

When I first ordered my PV, I was sure I wouldn't like any flavors but regular tobacco, but I was wrong. I'm really enjoying some of the ones I got from JC. Their tobacco flavor is close to what I'm used to in an analog so I'm using that as a base and adding a little of the other flavorings to it sometimes.

My son smokes menthols so I had him try JC Artic Mint, and he loved it! He vaped it all night last night instead of analogs!! I don't smoke menthols, but I tried it and I have to admit it was pretty good. Of course, taste is so subjective that what one might like, another would hate, but you might want to try that one someday.

I'm still not getting any good vapor from my M402, tho. :( If I could solve that problem, I'd be a happy vaper!

Hey Sherid...just wanted to say I love your avatar! When those pics of Obama came out I just thought they were the coolest pics ever :) And I was planning on using on for *my* avatar until I saw you beat me to it!

Wouldn't it be cool if he started vaping? Then what could the FDA do? Because, after all, if the President does it, it's not a crime! lol

Hmm...I'm sorta in the same boat.

I'm new to VP's and bought a used one from SheriD from the swap section of this site.

She sent me the m401's that Parked is selling....the bumblebee and scorpion atomizers....so basically 2 full e-cigs.

She also sent 4 "blank" carts that have no writing on the light blue wrappers. When i open a new one I get a chemical smell....but thinking it's the white rubber stopper I'm smelling. She sent me a bottle of orange hig....no mfg name.
I gotta say it really really smelled bad. Now I dont wanna say it's just the orange smell because I ordered marb 0mg, ruyan 0mg (power puff) from Litecig. (He also sent me a 10ml bottle of marb Non juice because he ran out of 0mg marb carts...tyvm shawn) I was pretty excited to get his order because I just couldn't stand the smell of the orange.

Well I opened the package and then opened the bottle and took a whiff, bam I was smacked in the face with that same smell....is it the PG?....sorta smells like old socks. I thought PG was odorless?

I'm thinking maybe of trying VG just to get rid of the smell

Oh and I cleaned the atomizers out by blowing on them into napkin til I got no residue....around the battery hole I saw some dark green liquid....thought maybe primer?....battery leaks? :( (scary thought) so I used a q-tip to remove all I could.

Oh and before you ask why I got 0mg....I quit cold turkey 31 days ago....but THEN I saw e-cigs and I couldn't stop thinking about them.....excuse to "smoke"....I dunno....but if I can stay away from analogs and do it with 0mg vaping....cheers to me right? :D

P.S If I get no answer's to this in this thread...gonna make a topic "PG smell bad to anyone else?"

I am also new to vaping however I have been hanging in because I really want it to work. I first started out with a 901.. I thought this is ok, but god the taste was awful. I kept at it and eventually the att's gunk burned off, then only to find out that my carts were adding to the bad flavor. I read quite a bit on here and have since switched to the joye 510. I am in love. Great throat hit, and vapor. I find it very difficult to vape though when I leave my home. It seems like alot of work, to change the carts or fill them and bring batteries or new atomizers. I guess its all a learning curve. If anyone has any suggestions on how they adapted please share your experiences. Also I have found that a new cart or filter and an unclogged atomizer makes a world of difference I just need to find the right juice and I am positive I can give up the analogs.

I'm new too - I started with the dse901 and found it hard work and ending up with aching jaw/neck - now have a Titan with manual battery, so far so good, hopeing this will get me off the analogues.

What I do with my atomizers when I get them is drain them before I use them, it you watch "igetcha" on utube on maintenance this shows how, this helps a bit with the new atty bad taste - I do wonder though why they need 'breaking in' - I find that really irritating!

I think different makes of juice smell different too, the orange I have smells pleasant, although there again does not seem to have a lot of taste.

I am one month in and am loving it. I have not picked up an analog since day three of vaping. Don't even want one. Have two cartons of them and will just watch them grow roots or give them away. I smoked Marlboro UL or bad copy when prices went up. Now I can barely stand the smell of one.

I bought the 801 from VaporCig and I chose the tobacco medium flavor. OMG-I had a real cig flavor. I have since received a newbie pack from JC. I do not like it much. It seems much thinner than the e-liquid I got with the kit and does not produce as much vapor unless I puff the atty hot.

Now I want a Screwdriver to fit my 801 attys. My batteries only last about four hours and that just makes me nuts--I am worse about the e-cig going out than I ever was about the analogs. I am hooked and I love it!

Hang in there!

As far as the flavor of liquids go, I thought I'd chime in with my opinion and observations from my vaping so far...

When I first ordered my 510 e-cig, it came with pre-filled carts of reg tobacco flavor. At first, I wasn't really into it. It didn't disgust me but I wasn't really fond of it either.

I ordered from Totally Wicked E-Liquid some Camel flavor High nic stuff. By the time it arrived, I was getting used to the flavor that came in the kit and the Camel ended up throwing me off at first. The more I smoked the Camel stuff, the more I preferred it!

The most important thing I've found as far as liquid flavor goes is that even if you are put off by a flavor at first (and by "put off" I don't mean "OMFG THIS IS DISGUSTING"), it will grow on you and you will start to like it. This has more to do, IMO, with how nicotine effects you. There's an article on these forums about it and how nicotine effects how much you enjoy certain activities and sensations:

Research Suggests That Cigarettes' Power May Not Be In Nicotine Itself

I think this has quite a bit to do with why, at first, a liquid that I was "meh" about, all of a sudden appeals to me very much.

For my tastes, Totally Wicked is the best stuff I've tried so far. The Johnson Creek flavors all had an underlying flavor that I didn't like not to mention had little to no throat-hit whatsoever. Much less vapor too.

It's all about trial and error and spending a lot of money. Trying to quit smoking with e-cigs is not as easy as picking it up and quitting. Just like with the standard ways of kicking the habit, e-cigs take lots of work (and typically lots of money too.... at first until you find your nirvana and recoup your costs).

Good luck to you and may you find your happy vaping place!

If you bought secondhand atty's they may have been lying around unused for quite a while - and this could account for the green stuff you are seeing. I think you had best wash out those atomizers (hold them under a warm tap for a while, and shake them well with a half-fill of hot water in them, then blow out from battery-side-hole; repeat this a few times until only clear water comes out) (other methods to be found in other threads if so wished). When done, blow out as much water as you can (use a paper-towel, this way you can check well when you have blown it almost dry).
Then either leave it to dry and drain for a night - or if you can't do that, just put on a number of drops of e-liquid, let it get in for a few minutes, then start to smoke - you might have to go on for a while before it catches on this way, some waterdroplets might still have to get out of the mesh.
Good luck on getting it working well.

I have to admit that the "horrible, horendous, OMG! I'm gonna puke" flavor that I noticed when I started this thread, disappeared in a day or so. Whether it was the prefilled carts or the primer in the atty or just me getting a mouth/nose full of flavor that I totally was not expecting, I can't say. I'm just glad it's gone. :D

BUT, my son tried my PV with a clean cart filled with menthol juice, after I wasn't noticing the bad taste anymore, and that's all he could taste was that awful putrid taste. So maybe it's still there, but I don't notice it anymore.

I got my sample pack from JC and was really excited at first. I opened them all and one smelled better than the other. But after a few days of trying different flavors, they've all started to taste the same to me and smell the same to me. It's really weird. I think it's probably because I'm not cleaning out my atty before switching to a new flavor so the flavors are probably mixing. But at least I do like the taste at this point.

So hang in there, BadAnswer, in a day or so, you might not notice that taste anymore! ;)

My problem is still that with my M402 I am getting really no vapor to speak of and virtually no throat hit. I've tried both batteries (fully charged) both attys, all my different JC juice flavors....nothing. I've dripped directly on the atty....nothing. The only time I got the least little bit of a throat hit, but still pitiful vapor, was with DIPPING the atty in the liquid and vaping with an empty cart, but that lasted for two, maybe three, puffs and then that quit.

At this point, I'm really frustrated and today I didn't even use the PV at all...went back to analogs until I can figure out what I'm doing wrong. Those few times when I did manage to get a decent hit are keeping me hooked on trying to get a PV that actually works...consistently....every time...without fiddling and fuddling around it with for 20 minutes to get two puffs and then starting all over again. :-x

I've got an order of juice from Nuvape on the way, PG and non-PG, so I'm hoping, now that I saw on this thread that some people thing JC juice doesn't give a good hit and produce good vapor, that the new juice might do the trick. If not, I guess I'll be looking for a second PV. I'm thinking either the DSE901, which I originally considered but didn't buy, or the Joye510.

Anybody have any opinions on which one produces the most vapor and the best throat hit, AND (now you thought I was done, didn't you? :p) has an easy draw?

Hi Speedikeys

I started off with a "lil white" and made the mistake of ordering low and 0 nic. I also bought a bunch of lorann's flavorings and VG as well as PG. I figured I'd start off making my own juice. Got the polyfil to replace the stuffing in carts too.

I found that the first week or so although I loved the flavors, I wasn't getting any hit..at least not the throat hit I wanted. I did cough though with long slow draws. It also had a hard draw. I went 2 days with no analogs. BIG MISTAKE - Got really stressed out (probably from no nic) and bought a pack of analogs. That was April 3rd. I had wanted to quit on April 1st. After reading this forum for weeks, decided to order the Vapor King (KR808D). OMG, I loved it from the first hit. I finished the analogs I had (spaced them out so my last would be on April 13th, my father's 75th birthday. I wanted a day I'd remember I quit on. Then I ordered carts from multiple suppliers. I found the taste to be different from all of them. I'm also now using 16mg and 24mg (The first 16mg gave me a headache but after that I was fine). I haven't had an analog since. I have no desire, the last few I smoked tasted terrible. On the rare occassion that I put my VK down and feel the urge to smoke an analog, I just pick it up and vape a couple of puffs and that urge is gone :D

I also found that one day I like certain flavors and the next I can't stand the same one. So I switch around depending on what I like that day. Coffee flavor from easycig.com is my favorite right now (and I don't like real coffee at all..never drink it...I drink Pepsi and can't stand the cola flavored carts..go figure).

The KR808D end up costing a bit more than some of the others because they're a 2 piece built in atomizer design. Unscrew one cartomizer, screw in a new one. Easy. To me, worth the extra cost (still less than analogs though). I tried refilling them but so far haven't been successful in getting the "hit" I'm looking for. Lots of vapor though.

I now have 3 sets with a 4th on the way. I also found that different batteries have different draw (each cartomizer is a bit different also) my black and white ones all have similar easy draw. My silver ones have a harder draw (no idea if it's the color or a fluke). It's nice having the option with different carts. I now only use the "lil white" simply to try different juice flavors but am holding off wasting the juice til I can perfect the recipe to give me the hit I want.

Good luck - Keep trying different things - You'll find what works best for you:thumb:

Anybody have any opinions on which one produces the most vapor and the best throat hit, AND (now you thought I was done, didn't you? :p) has an easy draw?

I have a RN4081 and a DSE901, and both of them work very well.

The 4081, I got in the form of the Smoking Everywhere GoldOne at the mall for far more than I should have paid for it. Like most people who got their's from SE, this was my first e-cig before discovering there are other cheaper yet quality products available. Seperating the item from the price, however, it's not a bad e-cig. The downsides from my own experience are the small cartridge size and the firmness of the draw. Carts last about 2 or 3 analogs worth, though this can vary due to differing vapor styles. The draw firmness can get aggrivating after awhile, but it's not a complete dealbreaker. My 4081 has how become my backup and I drip pretty much exclusively with it. Vapor production is very nice and I get really good throat hits, though these can also be attributed to the juice as much as the pv it's used in.

My DSE901 is my second e-cig purchase and is now my primary vape. It's black with a blue LED, and can be used more discreetly than my 4081, since the latter is designed to look like a real cigarette. The 901 also adequately addresses my 2 major beefs with the 4081-- the draw and cart size. For me, I can get up to appx 8 analogs worth out of a single filled cart. Again, this is one of those YMMV things depending on your vaping style. The draw is silky smooth and practically effortless. Note that mine has an automatic, draw-controlled switch, but it's not so sensitive that tapping the side of the battery will activate it. Vapor production and throat hit are very good, again, factoring in the juice I'm using.

I'm by no means an expert on e-cigs, as I'm constantly learning new things every day. Still, I hope this can be useful to you. :)
