I have loved and hated smoking...it's been my master for long enough. I tried a couple of e cigs which were not robust and broke, the complete turn off was having a coil burn out while I was taking a drag which was unpleasant and led me to loose confidence in vaping. I need your help in selecting the right vaping kit. I need a similar effect to Marlboro lights? Can that be done?

We can help you.

Google can also help you. Help you pay $119 for a $29 e-cig.

..and we wouldn't want that.

The industry is twisted out of all shape now. Never trust review sites or customer reviews in general. That can only end in financial doom.

"Make vaping great again..." ooh, kinda catchy that one. :)

Honestly, you won't find something "just like" a cigarette.
But literally millions of people now have tried, and found something they liked BETTER.
So YES - you can find an ecig that satisfies, and quit smoking.

It's not really simple though - because different people like different things - and what you like may change over time too.
To quit, you may want a "tight draw" - where you suck kindof hard like a cig. But many move on to "more airflow" - where you inhale more gently, and probably get more vapor.

Flavor is mysterious as well. A LOT of vapers START by looking for a tobacco vape, then are suprised themselves when they quit smoking after finding something like "Chocolate Raspberry" or "Vanilla Cream Donut". LOL.

If you CAN, find a vape shop that will let you try a few devices. Some stores are full of idiots, but some can be very helpful. Don't let them tell you something is "the best" if they haven't first asked about your preference, and let you try some stuff.

Here is a decent selection of popular, flexible devices that might be good for a "new vaper"...
Mostly "big brands" where you'll be able to find coils, switch to other tanks if needed, etc - companies like Kanger, Innokin, eLeaf. And yes - MOST of the good gear is shaped like a box. There are a few decent starter "tubes" if you insist - but often people outgrow those.

Good luck!!

If you want to quit smoking and start vaping do it instantly, don't go from reducing the number of cigs a day. Won't work. Assuming you smoke marlboro lights should be quite easy. I quit from 2 packs or reds a day [emoji23]

I disagree... duel using has worked for a number of people including myself. If someone stops using cigarettes immediately, or cuts down while vaping until they stop is as individual as vaping itself. There is no right or wrong, it's what ever works for the person.

I dual used for about three months and then quit. My opinion is if you feel like having a cigarette then have one. After a while the thought of smoking will make you sick and you'll wonder why you even smoked. That's how it worked for me anyways.

I would suggest one of the simple (and cheaper) devices like the Joyetech ego AIO or the Innokin T18. You can also go old school and try an Evod starter kit. These will be easier to start on and you can branch out later.

Flavor is a whole nuther discussion. No one can tell what you will like. It may take lots of samples.

I'm in a similar position-confused! So much ohm and subohm talk.
I have an iLeaf 30W but I just don't know a good beginner ohm, watts, volts etc... to start with. What works best for a newbie?
Thanks

No one can really give you a direct answer on this, as it is different for every person. Personally, I like to recommend the subtank mini or toptank by Kanger. They have airflow that can be closed off pretty tight if you don't want much airflow, but also opened up quite a lot of you want a less restricted inhale. In addition to that, they have several different coils you can try in order to find what works best for you. In addition, either of these tanks would work decently well with your eleaf.

That would be my suggestion. Vaping is a very personal thing, and what works for others may or may not work for you. There are several members on here who like a very tight draw and scoff at the idea of a lot of airflow. On the other hand, there are others who hate tight draws and want all the air you can give them. A subtank mini or toptank should be able to give you a bit of each. I view them as the jacks of all trades, but masters of none. They worked excellent for me while I was unsure about what I wanted. Just play around a bit and you will be able to find what works best for you.

Hi guys, thanks for your support! It's great to have this site- such a relief to find.
I'm in the uk- between £50/£100. I've heard about the innokin? The eleaf ? Mudder?
What's the best out there? I don't want to taste a metallic taste that I experienced with my previous e cig as I really want this to work - may of been v2? But am not sure
Easy to manage for an technically ignorant person like myself lol ;)
I don't mind what it looks like, as in it doesn't have to resemble a cigarette....other than that I don't know?
Dr vapers prescribe me something brill lol

Mouth to lung (mtl) is when you draw into your mouth and then inhale to your lungs. The way most people smoke a cigarette. A tank with a tight air flow works best for that.

Direct to lung (dtl) is when you draw the vapor directly into your lungs. A tank with more air flow works best.

Since you're in the UK @djsvapour can advise you better than us yanks on where to buy etc.

The Eleaf iSticks (several different types) are a good place to start and there are many others.

Welcome, V9offa, you're in the right place for help!

I really despised smoking for the ten years before I quit, and had no success with various methods including the cheaply made convenience store "cigalikes" and didn't have any success until I switched to a "real" vape. Everyone is different, and there are a lot of good combinations available today for not a lot of money.

As others have said, it's going to be difficult to find something that exactly replicates the experience of a Marlboro Light, but I'm sure you'll find a device that keeps you satisfied and helps you get away from cigarettes!
