Hi

I bought the tugboat v2 mod and rda clone that finally turned up today. Bit concerned with using it on inspection it seems there is no insulator between the 510 positive bin and the negative outer threads only an insulator within the deck. Please see photos attached.

Is this safe to use or shall I contact the seller and not even bother trying to use it?

@Craigo121 It looks as though the insulator is back there, behind the female piece. As long as that pin is not touching the sides, which it looks ok on the first pic, all should be good. I would def fire this on a reg mod prior to throwing onto a mech. Or you could build it and test it on an ohm meter. If it shorts you have your answer.

If you have a 521 Tab and are doing Rebuidalble anything, please for safety sake learn how to use it. It does more than keeping you on target for your build. It can actually help troubleshoot most any problem. If that att with NO coil reads .001 that is a dead short and should not be used. Take a reading on the 510 Tab and post it. We will give you input!

Oh I know how to use it I've been building for years but haven't used a mech since the nemesis age since all the regulated high wattage box mods came around, but saying that I'm just a very prangy person when it comes down to these things that's why when I couldn't see an insulator I panicked :)

I put a single coil build in and read at 0.5 ohm and no shorts or anything and it fired absolutely fine I'm just not sure if I should return or not

My only concern is that if there is no insulator and it fires fine couldn't problems arise later on or if there was no insulator would the ohm reader pick up a short straight away? Would the positive pin and the negative threads be technically touching without an insulator so there would be a short straight away not something that will short out later on if that makes any sense?

If your not comfortable I would return it. Seems the insulator should at least be noticeable from what I've seen of the Tugboat on the internet. I don't have one myself, but if I was uncertain I'd just return it.

Probably right. I was under the impression that the OP was going to ask for a "replacement", which in my mind would be the same as the one he has now and wouldn't accomplish anything.

But yeah, OP, if you are that worried about it - send it back for a refund and get something else.

Yeah I did message the seller and he said he will compare the photos to the rest of his stock as he hasn't had any complaints from other buyers and he has sold a fair few.

But do you think my above comments is true? Say if there is no insulator at all would the ohm reader pick up a short straight away like it has to have that insulator to work or is it only there as a safety precaution incase the positive pin arcs?

Appreciate the help guys :)

Note the reading on your ohm reader without atomizer. Take the coil off the atomizer and put it on your ohm reader. If the insulator is there it should read the same as without atomizer.
Ah I see I will give this a try! Surely the ohm reader will read the same without a coil if the insulator was there or not?

I'm not familiar with the 521 Tab but all my meters and readers clearly show a difference between an open and closed circuit.
