I have a 510-tank, battery life is dismal, flavor production im told is only so-so, vapor production is okay.... I ordered a 510-tank Low Resistance Atomizer... but aparantly i cannot use normal 180mah 510 batteries with the LR Attys? I read somewhere i need a minimum of 450-650mah batteries to use with LR Atty, but i asked the owner of a reputable ecig website and he said it would be perfectly okay to use 180mah batteries (normal 510 ones) with a 510-tank Low Resistance Atomizer, he said it was fine all it would do was drain batteries slightly faster... so im getting two different stories..

either im going to be charging batteries more often, or im going to ruin all my batteries on this LR Atty...

(only option i see is getting an ego battery, which would look ridiculous on a 510 atty, and i would need to get an adapter to charge it on my 510 charger, and aparantly it would take FOREVER to charge an ego battery on a 510 charger)

Please help shed some light on this and give me some options!!!

The Vendor is wrong. What is the resistance of that atty? If it is below 2.0 ohms then I would not use it on a penstyle batt. The drain is to high for those batts and while they may work for a short time you will be buying new ones soon. The Ego/Riva is not that big and if you want to use LR stuff then it is a bigger mah battery or a true 3.7v MOD. Best of luck.

Realistically, if you want to use the LR attys, you probably should just go ahead and order an eGo-T kit. I know it's another 65-75 dollar investment, but they last quite a while, and it comes with a charger. They advise not to use chargers with the wrong battery. eGo chargers are for eGo's. 510 pen-style chargers are for 510 pen-style's. Since I'm not a battery chemist, I can't really tell you why, just that it's a really bad idea to use a charger on something it's not designed for.

Best of luck!

i got the pack of two 510-T LR Attys from americaneliquidstore.com, there was no mention of numbers or ohms or anything lol..

idk, all the reviews about 510-Tanks and Ego-Tanks are that 510-Tanks are much better in every way, except the battery life. I would like to get into "mods" but im on the go half the time and i refuse to carry around some bulky box or flashlight tube putting it to my mouth every 5 seconds lol. so im trying to find the best ecig out there for vapor production, flavor, and size.. no bigger then the ego.. but im not having much luck >.<

Actually, it's done all the time. To take care of the cosmetic issues of the different sizes, they make a 'cone' that screws on to the eGo battery and gives a nice taper down to the 510 carto. The comes come in the same colors as the batteries.

One thing - some carto's are a bit bigger around than others and make a pretty tight fit with the cone, which will give you a rather hard draw. All I did with mine was to put the smaller part of a 7/32 socket (1/4" drive) into the cone and tapped it gently with a small hammer. All you are looking to stretch it by is about the thickness of a sheet of paper - so it doesn't take much. Don't whomp it - it will split the cone.

I seriously doubt the folks at Craftsman would applaud my use of the socket in this way - but I paid for it, I can abuse it if I want. :p

Just get an eGo cone to fit over the 510-T atty on the eGo bat.

Believe it or not, there is a LR 510-T hiding beneath both of these drip shield cones.

The LR 510-T is 1.5ohm, and should not be used on less than a 400mAh battery.

I've actually been using 1.7ohm cartos on my eGo-T batteries, and it doesn't look all that strange. The exposed threading actually gives it kind of a cool look. The device itself isn't actually that big, sure it's bigger than a cigarette, but I didn't want something that could be confused with a cigarette.

Sooner or later you're gonna end up with a big battery mod anyways. If cosmetics is a concern try looking into an Icon or a Precise. There are 3.7v box mods that fit in the palm of your hand which is comparable with the size and weight of the ego. (If you want a 3.7v box mod pm me and I'll give you the details). Hell even the V3 is pretty slim and gives you 3.7 or 6v. Replacement batteries are cheap as opposed to getting replacement ego batteries.

Well..... The vendor is mostly correct, IMO. The thing with the super-small batteries is that you are stressing them to their max .... kinda "red lining" them. It's hard on them, and causes them to fail earlier like Liv2Ski said. They can't put out enough amps to fry the circuits tho (which was a historical issue with the eGo stuff and 1.5 ohm-ish LR atties.... current claims are that's mostly a thing of the past).

I'd have a stack of em and risk it...lol. But that's me. I use the 5v box mods anyway... so not an issue. If you do it, don't be surprised at quick battery death, and short charge duration (LR uses charge up faster).

thanks for all the help! you guys are great im pleasantly suprised at the response time! :D

do you have any reccomendations at a mod thats cheap (under 50$, would like to be under 30$), with good battery life? maybe i can use my LR 510-T attys with it? something ill only vape at home, that gives great vapor production, and good flavor?

    thanks again!

Well.... the easy way to try it out is to use a 3.7 v mod. You can build them yourself if you have a soldering iron for < $10.00. Or buy a pre-built one < $30.00. Then there are higher quality mods in all price ranges. So it's very hard to say. You'll need batteries and a charger too.

Then, there's the Riva type systems, which are not replaceable batteries, but give you close to the 3.7 volts. And the e-power that has replaceable batts.

Build one via instructions in the modder's section. Some vendors, such as Welcome to MadVapes LLC sell kits (they also sell the e-power).

Of course, if you really want the vapor production, you need to look into 5v or vv mods IMO. But that's not for the LR stuff. Also, I find 1.5 ohm stuff too hot at 3.7v, but that's me.
