Help me build a mod!

I want to build my first 5v-6v mod. I want it compact (fits in my pocket) I also want it to last me around 8-10 hours.

What batteries should I use?

No, it can be done. In fact, has been done many times. What battery do you have now and how long does it last you now. Scale that up to 8 - 10 hours. If you use a linear regulator to give you 5 volts then add in a factor of about 1.5 since the 7.4 volt (average from a stacked pair of 3.7 volt cells) will eat up some of your battery power.

A guess that a pair of 14500 protected cells in a plastic box mod with a linear regulator would be a little small to go 8 to 10 hours (would for me). A pair of 18650 protected cells would.

You could go with a buck switching regulator and gain back some of the losses caused by the linear regulator.
Then the pair of 14500 (or maybe 18500) would probably make an all day vape.

I vape all day on a 18650 single with TI boost to 5 volts.

Takes a 26650 to make it all day for me. The OP may need more or less.
