Ok, so i bought some new 901 and 510 atomizers online and noticed that they have a different internal design than what I was used to. (see picture). I'm used to the metal mesh being down there, and now i've got this very intersting metal disc. Only thing I can come u with is that they are there to prevent flooding, is this correct? I have noticed they are way tougher to get started (priming) but compared to my more traditional atomizers don't blow through liquid nearly as fast (they don't produce nearly the vapor either). I would like others opinions on this design and if they are made by a specific manufacturer. Would be nice to be able to identify this manufacturer so i can be more proactive about what I purchase in the future. Thanks for any insights!

I can't confirm on the 510 as none of them I have bought have a disc like that. However recent 901's made by SLB (Saillebao) have this disc. They are the makers of the DSE series. They can also be identified by the code etched into the connector (some numbers and the letters "SLB"). Their design seemed to change within the last year. I'm really not sure of the reasons behind it, but it might be to help prevent flooding as you suggest. I also guess it might shield the cartridge from some of the heat from the coil to prevent "filler burn".

I'll speak to the 510... all Joye 510's I've had have the metal mesh at the base rather than the 'washer'. All other 510's than the Joye (Dura C, Titan, Yeti - all Joye Tech's) either have only a small ring of metal mesh or look like your picture and SLB would also be my best guess, although it could be anything other than a Joye. I prefer the Joyes as I think the metal mesh helps hold liquid near the coil and prevents it from drying out and rendering a nasty taste - also helps prevent burn out. With any atty or cartomizer, refill or drip whenever you detect a drop in flavor - that way you never get to the dry nasty taste, so keep them wet and you should be good.
