Help me, I'm in over my head in a cloud of sometimes foul vapor...

Hello everyone! Obviously I'm new here. Been up reading last night trying to figure this out.

i started vaping (thanks nasty hangover, you changed my life) 12/12, with an EonSmoke ecig. (Short, looked like an analog, with the profiled (which I later learned and refilled myself) and I enjoyed it but it got frustrating constant refills, sometimes funny tasting. So I moved up to Ego type with the side button, thank to my husband purchasing it for me thru our local vendor. I have a chaotic life with big dog, big and little boys and I drop, sit on (ie slip it in back pocket or forgot it on couch when something crash bang boomed.) and chase after my ecig when it rolls off the nothing is actually level in my old house. So then my husband purchased me a k100 (with both long and short batteries) and a vivi nova top coil tank (I use a 2.4 ohm head, I like it the best) and I use an ejuice my b&m makes with a 12mg nicotine level

i know now I have extremely limited knowledge of this, but after reading for a few night (and finally creating a membership last night) I felt the need to ask for the information I should have gotten years ago. im currently using my fifth k100 (this one is a fake but seems better made ..) and the problem I have is because I keep dropping them I'm damaging batteries at an incredible rate. Also, having the top pop out on occasion which I just hammer back in. But after all my abuse, they still work (amazing) but when batteries are fully charged I get a nasty chemy taste (regardless of new ohm head). The gentleman at my local b&m says I should have a mod with VV and wanted me to get the e-LVT mod, but I don't like the shape at all. So thanks to all my reading here, I'm waiting for my new provari to come in the mail, again my husband ordered it so I don't know if he purchased a tank. If he did which one am I SUPPOSED to use? How to I figure out the best one? I don't have the ability to go and harass my local dude (although he is awesome and enjoys my 4yo, I'm also positive that he breathes a sigh of relief that the bull didn't break the china) because I can't pay enough attention to what he is saying. I don't really understand ohm's law, so I need the simplest I can be a total dumb ... at times explanation.

Any advice/help/suggestions would be amazing to me, as I am completely beleaguered right now.

Hey Vexed, and WELCOME! So as I was reading your post, I immediately was thinking Provari before I even got to the part where you said you ordered one lol. Yes you could get a Vamo at a 1/4 of the cost, but will it hold up to drops and rolls off the table like the Provari would, def not. My first vv was a Provari, and I used it for 4 years up until about 3 months ago when I started using Mechanical Mods with RTAs (Rebuildable tanks). Thats a whole different conversation, but to sum it up, it gives more flavor and vapor than I could ever get on my Provari. But Provari is still a beast, and is the best quality unit on the market.

Back to your second question, I used a Vivi Nova BDC on my Provari for a while, but the flavor and vapor production was just not up to par. Do not get a Protank, because these cannot be screwed all the way down into the Provari, they have to be backed out about a half turn at least. This is the one they sell in the Provari kit, but only mention this little detail in small writing at the bottom of the page for the kit purchase. Anyhow, my good friend uses an Aspire Nautilus on his Provari, and the flavor and vapor production is way better than any other tank I have used on the provari aside from rebuildable ones. This would be my recommendation. But you may be fine with your Vivi still being you may not be used to the world of tremendous awesome flavor yet. But once you get a Nautilus going on your Provari, you will experience some of that for sure.

If your feeling really adventurous, I would just get a Kayfun Lite Clone w/Adjustable Air Flow. Its a tank you build a nice easy coil on (take some wire, and wrap it a few times around some silica (a few premade coils come with it) and put it on and tighten the screws. The provari will also measure the ohms of it to see where your at. Once you get a nice setup on it, nothing else will really compare to the flavor and vapor on these things. They are amazing and well worth the 30 bucks. I feel they completely blow away and Kanger, Protank, or BDC out there.

Kanger ProTanks are good tanks, but just make sure you get the one with the adjustable air flow if you go that route. The one with the airflow in the 510 threads completely seal shut when screwed all the way into the Provari. Figured this out when I recommended the Provari to my good friend, and he tried to be proactive and get the all in one kit from them that included a ProTank, and then he calls me freaking out how there is no airflow on his unit, and what is going on!!?? Was kind of puzzled myself at first, and felt weird to have to tell him to unscrew it a turn (as its a bit loose at that point). I dunno why ProVape includes this tank in their kit if it can't be used properly with their own product.

I have a Provari and am currently using Aspire Nautilus tanks on it. It's a pretty good tank but I have had some bad coils here and there. Many others that use this tank have had issues with some their coils as well. There seems to be an issue with their quality control.

I watched a video on YouTube were this guy rebuilds his Nautilus coils so I might venture into that some day.

Not to sound rude but, If I was as rough on equipment as you seem to be, I don't believe I would drop 2 bills on a devise like a Provari.

Believe me, a Provari can take as much punishment as you can dole out. It's built to be every bit as durable as a mechanical mod, and should you somehow break something, you can send it to Provape and get it fixed and have it returned within a weeks time. You'd have to run over a Provari with a lawn mower to break it. Why Provari?

Just about any "topper" can be used on a Provari. Cartotanks appear to be extremely popular on a Provari; I used them on mine for over 1.5 years with excellent results (better than any clearomizer tank). I recommend IBTanked Pyrex Cartotanks.

First, I hope you enjoy your Provari. I have always wanted one but ended up going the Z-max route myself. Once you figure out what voltage you like to vape at I am sure that you will be amazed at the difference.

Regarding the the tank, I don't think there really is one you are supposed to use. Use the one that you like the best. I know that for the last year I have been using the Vivi Nova top coil tanks. I have one that is so beat up and scratched it looks like it has been through a war. The threads are barely there, so when I try to tighten it down sometimes it sits cockeyed on top of my Zmax. It still works and has never leaked. I have even re-built the coils in the vivi heads my self. Mostly to see if I could do it, and to save some money. It has worked out well, but trying to re-build a vivi head is a royal pain in the buttox.

Last weekend I finally picked up a kayfun clone at a local shop. I had them build it so I could watch and see how they did it, and compare it to what I have seen on youtube. I will say that so far I love using the kayfun. I think it is working much better then the vivi nova did, and I am enjoying the flavor and vapor much more compared to the vivi nova.

In the past I have tried some re-buildable tanks and atty's but they never worked out for me, so I always went back to the vivi nova's. The worked well, and took a beating. ( I work construction and my devices take a lot of abuse. One time I dropped it and ran it over with a vibratory roller. It still worked when I pulled the battery and put it back in. ) At this point in my vaping, I felt like I was ready for the kayfun so that is what I am using now. If you are happy with the vivi nova's, I see no reason why you can't enjoy that with the provari. Once you find the voltage setting that works with your juice, you should be more the happy with that set up.

Welcome and congratulations for quitting.
I'd say, if you're going to drop that kinda dough on a provari (which I hear nothing but good things about), I'd go for one of the Kayfun atomizers from Svoemesto. You can get the OG one or a clone. I have a clone and it's awesome.
You will have to learn how to do your own builds, but it really isn't that difficult, especially now that there are thousands of videos on YouTube on how to do dozens of different build styles and how they perform.
If you really don't want to bother with building, then I'd agree with getting a Protank, Aspire or Nautilus tanks with adjustable airflow.
Find the juice you like, pick yourself up some AW IMR batteries and vape all day. Good luck on your vaping adventures!

You need a clearomizer with a 510 connection as the PV does not have eGo cone threads.

I suggest the Kanger Aerotank standard or the newest Mega models. Not any of the Kanger Mini versions as they are all eGo Cone thread.

Completely agree with you here. Provari is great, and the Kayfun is a beast and has been the best tank I have owned. May have to restate that statement after I check the mail today lol. My Fogger V4 is coming! Anyhow, yes it is very worth checking into mech mods. Once I tasted a Kayfun at .7 on a mechmod, it blew my mind. I originally had a V1 Provari, and it was VERY limited 10amps I think. The new one is 15amps so I figured it would do me some good. And after them having tell me they couldn't put the new chip on cuz my current electronics were too "old and in bad condition" I had to dish out 70 bucks for everything. Whatever, its brand new now, and has another one year warranty with a blue LED now (oooh aaahh). But was it worth it? NO. For the week they were repairing, upgrading this thing, I got way too used to my Kayfun and mechmod. Its a whole different world that once you get a taste of it, your provari will fall to the way side.

On a different note, I did use my Provari for 4 years and is my "baby". So I still carry it around with me just incase lol.

Definitely keep the Kayfun in mind.

May I suggest that you use higher ohm coils in your Aspire Nautilus. The Provari shines more with a higher ohm coil, preferably in the 2.5 - 3.0 ohm range. You'll also then have a wider range of voltages to try your juices with.

Hopefully you will be able to stop smoking cigarette completely. But I have found that IF YOU really don't want to quit smoking you won't.

The Nautilus is a good atomizer, vaping on one right now, but if you want to go that extra mile get a Kayfun. But be ready for some Over the TOP flavor and better vapor.

I was surprised once I got the coil building down and most important the wick size and placement right. Some times to much flavor from juices I have thoroughly enjoyed in other atomizers.

the stock head sold be Aspire for the Nautilus are those 1.6 and 1.8 ohm heads. But you can rebuild those head to a higher ohm resitance.
Again that means you'll need to do some learning.

Personally I'd just stay with the stock heads. Then if you do get a Kayfun and start wrapping your own coils you can try rebuilding one of the Nautilus heads and see how it goes.

The higher the number the more resistance. I personally wouldn't go to a 2+ ohm coil. I'm running 1.4 to 1.8 on all my atomizers, store bought or hand wrapped, and have great vapes and flavor.

If you want to blow some Clouds you could try out an Eleaf iJust tank. Might be hard to find, I bought one at my local store on a wim, $19.
This thing Blows some Clouds and that is with the stock 1.8 ohm coil head. Not sure how or why but it really does put the Nautilus and my kayfun's to shame on the Cloud department. Flavor is OK, on par with the Nautilus.

Sounds like you are becoming a GEAR JUNKY. They call that GAS, Gear Acquisition Syndrom.
