I really like the look and the reviews of the SVD. I'm probably going to go with that one instead.

Not sure what an ATTY is, or "cloud", sorry but im new to this kinda thing and am not so familiar with the terms :p but yes flavor is probably the more important part here.

What about batteries for this device?

We keep hearing quality issues connected with the svd.

BEFORE you buy an SVD... read the SVD thread; they have more button problems than you can shake a stick at.

Try the Sigelei Zmax v3 or v5... awesome mod, just $39.95(v3) or $46.95(v5) at Desert Vapes. Their shipping is amazing too; I ordered mine Sat. night, regular 1st class, and it came today.

PS. In the Sigelei thread the other day, someone said something that seemd to indicate they thought I was getting a Vamo.. I said no, I'm getting a Sigelei v3... someone else piped up with "I have a Vamo... you made a good choice." From which I can only infer that people who own both, prefer the Sigelei.

Also, batteries: the long, longer lasting ones, 18650s, Amazon has a good price on a pair of them, $20.99.

The shorter ones, 18350s, also a fair price at Amazon for a pair, $7.89+$4.99 shipping, or $12.88/free shipping.

And a decent charger, also at Amazon, the Nitecore i4, $15.40 -- both it and 18650's mentioned above are fulfilled by Amazon, so if you order them together, you get free shipping (over $35).

I have a vamo and a zmax; I use the vamo because of the ease of checking ohms and battery condition volts

Does it matter if these batteries are protected or unprotected?

As mod users, we depend heavily upon batteries. To assist novices to choose which battery to use in their mod I have written this guide. Our choices are IMR, protected ICR Li-Ion, and a new class of Hybrid batteries.

High quality IMRs are currently recommended in place of Protected Li Ion for all applications. (reference - Rechargeable Batteries)

IMR (Li Mn) batteries are the safest batteries available to us for vaping. They use safer chemistry, so they don't require protective circuits like ICRs do. They have higher tolerence to stress, and although they may vent during failure it is less likely to be as dramatic as a ICR. Should protective circuits fail in ICRs they can vent violently in flames.

High Quality, Brand Name Batteries. Batteries are not created equal. Mod battery experts recommend the following brand name IMR and hybrid batteries:

AW IMR
18650 2000mah 10Amp CDR
18650 1600mah 24A
18490 (1100mah) 16.5A
18350 (700mah) 6A

MNKE IMR
18650 1500mah 20A

Panasonic or Orbtronic hybrid
CGR18650CH (IMR/hybrid) 2250mAh 10A
NCR18650PF (LiNiCOMnO2) INR/ICR/IMR Hybrid 2900mAh 10A
NCR18650PD (LiNiCoAl) 2900mAh 10A
Orbtronic 18650 SX22 (hybrid) 2000mAh 22A
Orbtronic 18650 SX30 (hybrid) 2100mAh 30A

Sanyo
UR18650EX 2000mAh 20A

Samsung hybrid (LiNiCoMnP)
INR18650-22P 2200mAh 10A
INR18650-20R 2000mah 22A

Sony hybrid
us18650v3 IMR 2250mAh 10A
us18650vct3 1600mAh 30A
us18650vtc4 2100 mAh 30A

EH IMR
18650 2000 mAh 16A
18650 1500 mAh 22A
18500 1100 mAh 8.8A
18350 800 mAh 6.4A

Efest IMR
18650 (IMR/hybrid) 2250mAh 10A
18650 2000mAh 10A
18650 1600mAh 30A
18490 1100mah 8.8A
18350 800mah 6.4A

If you do sub-ohm coils, you must use a battery which has over 10 amps CDR.

Ok and what about batteries for that device?

I just told you the batteries for that device. But whatever you do, don't buy any batteries or charger with "fire" in the name anywhere. Apparently they're cheap, could be knockoffs. If it looks too good to be true... it almost always is.

Are they suppose to be buttom-top or flat-top for the Sigelei Zmax?

I'm told that either will work fine. I got flat tops for the pair of 18650s and 18350s I bought, and when I get another pair of 18350s for stacking, I'll get button top, so they'll be easy to distinguish and keep apart from the others.

For lots of really great info about the Sigelei Zmax, really either the v3 or the v5, check out the Sigelei thread, it's really been a great, useful thread to be reading while deciding on which mod to go for next, and some swell, smart folks in there too. :thumb:
