I'm a two pack a day smoker. Last September, I bought a Joy510 kit. I quite anologs in two weeks. And during those two weeks I smoke less than a two packs total. I was doing great until a few months ago. Frustration is the problem.

The Ecigs are great but that batteries don't last the atomizers clog and die etc. I didn't care. I wasn't smoking and I was still saving money. I made a few battery mods and even played with making my own juice.

I was using an atomizer for a week or so and then replacing it when it stopped working well.

Then I ordered 5 more atomizer and they sucked. The flavor was lousy. I finally bought some real cigs.

Now I want to get back to ecigs, but I read here there are a few different types of 510 atomizers.

Which one is the best? I know its subjective, but I'm sure some of you know what I mean when one version is lousy.

I don't high voltage vape.

Thank you

First, Welcome Back!! Let's see if we can 'Start you up, so that you never stop' :)

People have different opinions of course on manufacturers, models, etc. but I like the Joye 510 atomizers because they have the full metal mesh base around the atomizer bridge. I think this help keeps the actual coil from drying out - the main cause of atomizers dying and nasty taste - by holding ejuice in and around the coil. Some SLB and BE (best ecig) 510 atomizers have little or no metal mesh at the base but have what looks like a stainless washer there instead.

If a vendor doesn't say their atomizers are 'Joye' then it is likely they are not. Some will say that it is 'compatible or works with Joye, Titan, Yeti, Dura C, etc. (those are all Joye atomizers) but all that means is that their atomizer has the same 510 threads as the Joye but might not be a Joye.

On the battery side, there are now 'mega batteries' that last about twice as long and are an inch longer than the regular 510 kit battery and also a major improvement in charge time and vapor as well - the Janty eGo, Totally Wicked 'Tornado' or the Joye eGo (all the same ecig under different names). The regular eGo/Tornado 650mAh battery lasts 6-6.5 hours and they now have a 900/1000mAh battery that lasts 9+ hours without recharge.

As long as you already have 510 atomizers and carts you could just get a battery, a usb battery charger (it's different than the regular 510 charger and is not compatible - but it's not expensive), and a cone - a piece that fits over the atty/cart and screws onto the battery for a sleeker look. That way you don't have to buy a kit. You can get all, if they are in stock at Janty, Totally Wicked, cignot and heaven gifts as well as other vendors.

[there are other 'clones' available - Riva, Maxx, T-Rex, but Janty originally designed the eGo and Joye Tech then sells it through TW(Tornado) and HG/cignot, etc. (Joye eGo) under different names, whereas the others are not manufactured by Joye. All the Joye models have fully compatible parts - charger, cone, etc.]

Another development is the low resistance atomizer. Regular 510 atomizers are rated at 2.1 ohms and the low resistance attys (LR's) are rated at 1.5 ohms. This results in a hotter vape (hence more vapor). However, because they burn so hot, they are more likely to burn out. I'd highly suggest trying out the eGo/Tornado/Joye eGo battery, quick usb charger and cone - 2 batts if you can afford it. And because they are so popular, if in the unlikely event that they're 'not for you', you would have no problem selling them in the classifieds here.

Here's a page that has all the accessories just to show you what they look like but you can purchase from the vendors mentioned above and others as well. Again, you could get the 651mAh batt, the 1000mAh batt (some call it a 900mAh batt - and the 'mega batt' is only 13mm longer than the regular Tornado batt and the same diameter), the 'mega usb charger' and a cone.

I've heard lots of good things about the 510.
I use the RN4081 and the atty is great---the batteries suck big time though. With dry burns and vodka cleaning, the atty will hang in there for months.
I also use the DSE102 which you won't hear much about but it is a durable little atty. Factory batteries with this model are better than the Super White RN4081 batteries. Downer is the carts are small because it is a mini mini. If I use filler in the liquid cups it doesn't take long to empty.
I mainly drip though. The DSE102 is great with the ZFM which makes it my #1 on the go model since it's hard to drip when I'm on the go.

You may want to experiment with the other manufacturers' 510s; you might prefer them. They include BE510, L2 510, BW510, DSE510, and others.

The LR (low-resistance) 510 atomizers Kent mentioned definitely deliver a much more intense experience. It may or may not make them taste better. [Some e-liquids and flavors blossom at higher watts, some collapse.] The effect is the same as high voltage (~5V).

The higher mAh batteries (e.g., Joye eGO/Tornado, Riva, Absolute MaxX, Hello 016) that Kent mentioned will enable you to vape longer between chargers and will slightly alter the experience. [I've learned from Kent that the eGO is 3.4V to the 510 battery's 3.1V. I don't know (no one yet knows?) the voltage of the other fat batts (as I call them), but I believe that the MaxX and 016 are higher than the eGO and Riva.]

jj2 has pointed you in a different direction (i.e., different atomizers, not just different brands): one that I encourage you to explore. Although I would direct you toward my prefered atomizers: DSE901, DSE801, and KR808D-1 cartomizers. My favorite skinny (i.e., non-mod) battery is the Kr8, because it is the most powerful (280 mAh and a true 3.7V). It works with Kr8 cartomizers, of course, and with the 901 atty. With a $2.50 adapter, it also works with the 801 atomizer (and all other penstyles). [And with a 901-510 adapter, it works with your 510 attys.] It seems to do no wrong.

You may want to consider starting with an inexpensive Kr8 kit and trying out the other atomizers at whatever pace you like. I strongly recommend the newer Kr8 cartomizers (e.g., Vapor4Life's Premium, VaporNine's Turbo, CigEasy's Gold Label Deluxe). They are very good and their vapor production rivals the 510 (high praise).

Last, but foremost, try different e-liquid: both different flavors and the same flavor from different sources. It is possible that your tastebuds are changing since quitting smoking. Mine have.
