Use VG....google the truth and carry the article with you. But also carry the truth about the 4000 gases in tobacco. Show the list of ingredients in tobacco now, they change the additives all the time..."nicotine enhancement" additives...smoking tobacco is a thousand times worse than vaping for sure. Walking across SOME streets is more dangerous than vaping too.

It is true that propylene glycol is a primary ingredient in many antifreezes. You can't argue with that.
From wikpedia:
considerably less toxic and may be labeled as "non-toxic antifreeze". It is used as antifreeze where ethylene glycol would be inappropriate, such as in food-processing systems or in water pipes in homes, as well as numerous other settings. It is also used in food, medicines, and cosmetics, often as a binding agent.
Please don't hang me for quoting wikipedia. It's also used, "As a solvent in many pharmaceuticals, including oral, injectable and topical formulations", where toxicity would be an issue.

On another forum, I got hit with this:
The major drawback about them eCigs is they have more chemicals in them (including anti-freeze) that are probably more dangerous than a regular cig.
I don't know when or where, but someone with an agenda has been popularizing the antifreeze thing. There are lots of individuals and corporate entities who might be motivated to bad mouthing vaping. It is disinformation.

Wow, thanks for the fast (and informative) responses!

What's the difference between PG/VG - I was just browsing online at Tasty Vapor, wanting to try the bananas foster, and I see that you can order "all PG", or juice with a percentage of VG added. What to do?

@ needtoknow: I'm ordering an MV Sidesho this week, in the meantime I'm researching everything :) And no, I haven't played online poker (well, maybe on Pogo a few times, but that's about it).

Methinks that "someone" with an agenda is either Big Tobacco, Big Pharma - or both. All one has to do is ask "Whose bottom line will be adversely affected by vaping?" And there's your answer.

What answer to I give to someone who states, "The smoke in those e-cigs contains the same chemicals found in antifreeze"?

Say: "The reason why they started putting propylene glycol into antifreeze to make it safer and less toxic to animals that might lick it on the pavement when it leaks. It's a main ingredient in many dog foods as it kills germs. It's in cough syrup, tooth paste and in many food flavorings.

According to the Wikipedia article on PG, it's also used "in smoke machines to make artificial smoke for use in firefighters' training and theatrical productions" - so I hope that it's safe, or else we'd be sickening firefighters before they start and play audiences and actors.

Another good point: "As a moisture stabilizer (humectant) for snus (Swedish style snuff)" - and Camel just started promoting snus as an alternative to smoking that can be used anywhere. So they can't really dog on PG. And of course, Big Tobacco also uses it "To regulate humidity in a cigar humidor" and "As an additive to pipe tobacco to prevent dehydration."

There are many more uses for PG than just antifreeze listed on the PG wikipedia article. Spell it out when looking it up.

It also says that human oral toxicity is low, and most cases of poisoning are by IV use or children drinking a lot of it.

Thanks :)

Tell them you have it on high authority from a an ex-pharmacy tech that propylene glycol is also used in many medications for compounding and is medically safe if used correctly. And that cigarettes contain small amounts of arsenic.

If you scroll down to the bottom of this page you will see a google search box put pg and vg in there and it will search the forum for post. I got this one by doing that.
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ask-experts/54609-pg-vg-liquid-base.html

pg is more watery in form. vg is rather thick like syrup and needs to be cut to thin it down some. vg makes great vapor but this is just what I've gathered from it you might want to do that search function and read up on it yourself.

Better this from Wikipedia

Propylene glycol is metabolized in the human body into pyruvic acid, which is a normal part of the glucose metabolism process and is readily converted to energy.
The oral toxicity of propylene glycol is very low, and large quantities are required to cause perceptible health damage in humans. Serious toxicity will occur only at plasma concentrations over 4g/L, which requires extremely high intake over a relatively short period of time.[7] It would be nearly impossible to reach toxic levels by consuming foods or supplements, which contain at most 1g/kg of PG. Cases of propylene glycol poisoning are related to either inappropriate intravenous use or accidental ingestion of large quantities by children.[
