Ok. So I'm pretty new to this vaping stuff. I know I want something like a mod.

But I don't like the whole idea of swapping out the cotton, rebuildong the coils etc.

I do like the tank idea that eGOs have? because say if I'm tired of vaping orange I can swap my tank out for a grape for example. But I want it in mod form? I like how you can make a mod look cool. I saw a few that look like a lightsaber.

I am not sure what's the difference between a RBA or a RDA. I don't know where to start. So many questions I know and I apologize if they are stupid or redundant.

Any help is appreciated.

I think you should browse some online store and choose what looks best for you by the pictures.

If you don't want to rebuild the coil don't start with RBAs (you probably will get there in few weeks/months lol).
You can get a nice variable voltage mod (just an example - Zmax mini/SID) with a good clearomizer (for example - Aspire Vivi Nova-S/Aspire Nautilus) and get GREAT vapor, flavor and setting flexibility.

RDA - rebuildable dripping atomizer
RBA - rebuildable atomizer (general name but usually refer to rebuildables with liquid tank).

The reason I chose to recommend on Zmax mini/SID is because you want a nice design, and there aren't a lot of VVs (variable voltage) out there that looks nice.

The reason I recommended on Aspire Nova-S and Nautilus is mainly because they use a Pyrex (glass) tank instead of Polycarbonate (plastic) and it's easy to find coil replacements for them.

Would you recommend me going straight into an RDA then? If it would save me money should I just jump into an RDA. I know this next question will start a flame war but let's hope it don't. What is the better choice when it comes to an RDA? I've heard of a Tesla? I've also seen one that looks like a lightsaber? Which company makes that one?

Any recommend links that the forum suggests? With perhaps discount codes? (One of the other forums I follow offers discount codes they worked out with the vendor) if not it's cool. Just any decent vendor that's US based preferably.

no such thing as a stupid question I'll do my best here to answer. I suspect when you say light saber mod you mean something like the VV VW SVD from Itazte or provari or even Sigelei type battery mod. I personally use the SVD and love it to death. You can use pretty much anything on it you like RBA, RDA ,clearomizer, cartomizer. If your new to vaping I woud do a good bit of research on the items avalible and pic what fits your budget. You can always upgrade from there as you learn and if you like vapping. The RDA RBA type will require rebuilding so we know there out. I would suggest a good battery mod, like the SVD, Provari, Sigelei and others in the VV VW adjustable range, those mods will serve you well for most all of your vapping regardless of vaporizer atomizer choice. For a starter atomizer I would suggest the IClear I 16 it uses a replacable coil and fairly cheap they rarely leak if ever, you can have several ready to go with different juice flavors and there small so you can carry as many as 6-8 in a small case the size of a cigarette pack. If your looking for tank type atomizers, I would suggest the Iclear 30S of all the different ones out I find it to be the least troublesome, has great vapor and flavor and the coils replace easily and are cheap. There are other good tank types from Kangers aerotank, protank line. hope this helps a bit.

I am willing to learn the rebuild part if need be. If the rebuilding makes my vapor flavors stronger then I'm all for learning it.

I'm still fairly new to vaping as well, just over a month into it.A very beginner friendly set up i have been using,is a vamo mod with a kanger pro tank or even the mini pro tank. This will give you that light saber look, and it wont kill your bank account.I have maybe $65 in this set up with the vamo and both tanks.

If you are like me though,it wont be long before you will want to start rebuilding.I have started doing my own micro coils with cotton wicks, and it blows the regular coil/wick set up away.I have also already started making my own juices, that is fun as well, plus there are so many good recipes listed on this site, that you can pretty much make any flavor you want from the ones people have listed.

I don't think you should jump into RBAs yet, that's something that require understanding (reading) and passion, you gain that with time.
Anyway with RBAs you'll still need a mod and you'll probably want to have tanks for times that you don't want to start messing with rebuildables, so it's not a waste of money.

I do think you should pick a better mod that you need right now, so you won't need to upgrade it too often.

I think Tesla is kinda generic mod, most of them sold brandless.
You can find it under $45 in few places so I think it's really a good choice.

It really depends on what you're looking for and what's your expectations, but around $50 I think the Vamo is also a nice choice. Any time its using 18650, output 6v/15w and reliable, it should be good for you for the long run.

I assume these prices are mostly online prices. I have been to a brick and mortar stores, and those prices are expensive. So much to consider.

Ok. So I'm pretty new to this vaping stuff. I know I want something like a mod.
when you say a mod do you mean anything that doesn't look like a cigarette, or do you mean a mod and are you wanting a mech mod (basically just a tube and battery) or a regulated mod (tube and battery and usually is vv/vw, puff counter, battery life, atty ohm checker, ect)
But I don't like the whole idea of swapping out the cotton, rebuildong the coils etc.
you don't have to rebuild to enjoy vaping....there are plenty of tanks, like vivi novas, protanks, and even some rebuildables that you can buy already made coils for :)

I do like the tank idea that eGOs have? because say if I'm tired of vaping orange I can swap my tank out for a grape for example. But I want it in mod form? I like how you can make a mod look cool. I saw a few that look like a lightsaber.

New Vapor Info & Starter Kits

Some things to keep in mind:
  • Try to stick to pv's (personal vapors) that have both the 510 and ego connections this way you have all kinds of options when it comes to juice delivery systems.
  • Variable Voltage (vv) = everyone's taste is different so you can set your voltage up or down to help suit your needs as well as different juices and different juice delivery systems (cartomizers, tanks, ect) taste different at different voltages. (how many times can I say different)
  • Variable Wattage (vw) I haven't tried yet but assuming it is the same principle as stated above for vv.
  • Pass-through battery to be able to vape while charging.
  • the higher the mAh the longer the battery life
  • do you prefer a warm vape (top coil) or a cool vape (bottom coil)? top coil vs bottom coil tanks, to each their own...but go with glass or metal so that there's no worries about tank cracking juices.

something hopefully to give you a good judgement of sizes....
Size Does Matter
For those out there with the "size problem"
Here is something to give a good judgement

Two part question anyone have any thoughts on buying mods from eBay?

A friend of mine suggested a Nemesis mod?

Sent from Blood Gulch Outpost #1 using Forum Runner

For starters I personally wouldn't buy from eBay and u would definately want to look at a nemesis clone..original is expensive and honestly harder to find.

if you are ok with buying from ebay that is up to you....but keep in mind if anything happens to the mod there's no warranty or customer support....

and the nemesis that's up to you...what is it that you want from vaping...nemesis is a mech mod so it is just a tube and battery, nothing else....no special features to it, no battery protection....

mod is a general "slang" for battery tube, it can be regulated with one voltage settings (4.2v-3.5v depend on the battery charging level), variable voltage (usually between 3.3v to 5 or 6v) or mechanical (doesnt use any electronic parts, connecting your atomizer straight to the battery).

If you're building your own coils you can adjust the resistance and than using one voltage setting doesn't really limit you because the wattage depend on the mod voltage output + the atomizer's resistance, so you want to control at least one of them.

If you're using a "pre-built" tank and also using fixed voltage mod or mechanical mod, you have no way to change the wattage. That can be fine for some users, but most of us are looking for some "control".
